It's definitely the place for me to go to for my Bingsu Fix. The place is quite spacious and I love staying by the window side of the cafe. It overlooks BGC; nice and bright in the afternoon. If it's your first time to try Bingsu, go for the fruity options: Strawberry or Mango Cheese. For me, I always get a regular size of the Injeolmi Bingsu and Mango. For the Injeolmi, you'll be surprised with the amount of rice cake cubes in it! Each spoonful you'll scoop up a good portion of finely shaved milk ice + rice cake + soy bean powder. I always love the bite and the chewiness. On my last visit, they now have a new flavor: Match Bingsu! Definitely a must try! If you want something different, try the sweet potato bread with injeolmi. It's not too sweet but quite filling. Very tasty and worth a try. Right now, you can get condensed milk for free at the side! Don't put too much though. The Bingsus are sweet enough! :P

Must be the record-breaking heat we've been having. Or maybe they're just really good. Located at the 3rd floor of Bonifacio Stopover, Hobing is a little hidden - the establishments beside it are salons, nail spas, a gym. It's a great location though for a dessert place to move to after having lunch - considering the 1st and 2nd floors of Bonifacio Stopover are full of places to eat! The shaved ice itself is really smooth and soft, and comes with its own flavor to match whatever toppings are on the shaved ice. And what makes it even better - they don't skimp on the toppings. If you order the strawberry bingsu, you'll find a lot of strawberries on top and inside the ice as well. They also offer toast and other snacks, but people come mostly for the shaved ice. I'm not surprised but when there are a lot of people, it could take some time for your order to come. And this place also gets full during weekends. I also wish they had wifi. Or maybe it's better that they didn't so people would leave quicker and give others a chance at shaved ice goodness. I love this place and will come back! With this heat, I hope they make a serving that I can dip my whole body into so I can roll around in snowy soft shaved ice.

It's inside a tall building housing Balenciaga, two other couture retailers, a small art gallery, and event space with escalators ... anywho, when inside Rockwell's Uptown Mall, go left toward Zara on the first floor and exit the mall. Walk across the street into an expensive looking tall building and ask the guard for directions. It's a bit confusing but plan ahead while in AC. I was skipping like a kid in front of a candy store. I suppose the pastel macaron shells will have to do. Of course we took photos in front of the glass entrance. The employees probably had a good laugh at us tourists. This is the most posh Ladurée location I've ever been to, high decorated ceiling with macarons all around, shades of pink, blue, lavender, and yellow permeating the space. They even sell perfume, or at least the bottles here! Filipinos definitely love to smell good, I noticed perfume at H&M as well. I was thinking to get a 3 macaron stack keychain but figured I'd get one in Paris one day. They go for about ~$35 but the rhinestone studded Eiffel Tower one I had my eye on was $100! Eh, that's ok. I'll stick to the baked goods. My mom & sis were skeptical prior to visiting, wondering if they'd be as good as NYC's. I had my doubts, but one bite into that chocolate Earl Grey and I knew it was exactly the same. Delicate shell making way for a chewy ganache center. Ahhh perfection in a tiny bite. TBH who couldn't gobble these up in 2-3 bites? At PHP 150 ($3) a piece, or $4 if it's in a fancy box, we've got to savor the moment and take at least 4 bites. 12 flavors available each day. I planned to buy a 6 piece Arabesque box ($24, cute oblong box with gold leaf design, almost looks like an eyeglass case) but got the 8 piece ornament box instead. My sis & cousin got the Arabesque. I was able to try pistachio, brown cheese, chocolate Earl Grey, vanilla, coffee, raspberry rice pudding, chocolate, and salted caramel. Brown cheese was definitely a stand out. I couldn't really place the raspberry rice pudding, just happy it was ganache and not jelly. Coffee wasn't as strong as I remember. Employees were nice, polite, and bagged up our purchases separately in those cute green paper bags. They'll also accommodate requests for wax paper bagged individual macarons. Boxes themselves cost ~$4-6. Would I come back? It's Ladurée! Can't wait to visit more locations.

And yes, I do get a lot of, "But whyyy?" reactions from people. That aside, I do get occasional cravings -- days when I just really need something sweet to cap off a big meal or a reward after a long day. Purple Oven is the perfect place to satisfy my dessert desires. I love the Chocolate Campfire cake, it's rich, moist, chocolate cake that topped with marshmallow icing. MARSHMALLOW ICING! I suppose you could take a slice and sandwich it between graham crackers and call it a smore. For days when you just need a little sweetness, try the double chocolate chip cookie, choclate macademia cookie or chocolate dipped cookie (where literally have the cookie is dipped in chocolate). They're pricey at P60/cookie but they're a little bigger than my palm and the chocolate chips ooze out when you bite into the cookie. There is no scrimping on ingredients in Purple Oven. The products here would also make great presents. They're hefty and have the wow factor because of their packaging. The chocolate crinkles, lemon squares, brownies and revel bars would be great to share at the office while the cakes would be awesome to bring home to family or to impress in-laws. Enjoy!

Every layer had the perfect balance to the palate. We next opened the lid for salted caramel tres leches, it had a round sponge cake topped with whipped cream, drizzled with caramel syrup, soaked in evaporated milk like consistency. It had a pinch of salt that enhanced the dessert's flavor. Overall, it was a delightful experience!

She was happy with my gifts and was sure it wouldn't last until the next day ;-) I like that their plain vanilla is really well made and not boring at all. The only thing I'm sad about is the NYC pricing has also landed in Manila. Expect to pay between P145 to P165 per cupcake.

Their bucayo, which a local sweet made from coconut flakes is a wonder for a quick sugar fix. Their Silvanas? Don't even get me started. Melt-in-your-mouth wafers with the perfect amount of butter and flavoring. They also have a few cupcakes which are even better and taste far less commercial than some of the ones sold by the pricier cupcake cafes. They also sell polvoron; classic and cookies 'n' cream. Both good. (Polvoron is polvoron. You can't sing much praises about it without sounding like you're pushing it.) They also have mango bars which I love because of the texture. A bit crumbly but still chewy and filled with tiny dried mango bits. Their Josephines which are sugar biscuits with light cream in between are also perfect with black tea or coffee and I love how the cream is never heavy. Their lemon bars though, lack a bit of lemony-ness for my taste and the cheddar used for their ensaimadas is bit too sharp and salty. Their cheese rolls are perfectly soft but ironically, lacking in cheese. All three are still good though.

When you go to House of Silvanas, there is a dessert they have called Black Bottoms, which are essentially cupcakes made with a cheesecake top (!!!!!!!11!!!1?!!), dotted with chocolate chips and moist, chocolate cake on the bottom. I never fail to purchase one whenever I feel bad, because the moment I sink my teeth into this cupcake, first taking in the creamy cheese and then the chocolate, my eyes roll back in delight, and I find myself making joyful squeaky noises in appreciation. I think it's safe to say that the Black Bottoms from House of Silvanas are my favorite baked dessert. My next favorite dessert would have to be Napoleones. While House of Silvanas doesn't have them, they do have a dessert called the Josephine. It's occurred to me that Josephine was the name of Napoleon Bonaparte's wife, so maybe this has something to do with the fact that the Josephine is kind of like a napoleone, only crunchier and more rectangle-shaped. One bite into the puff pastry reveals a sinfully delicious custard center, and before you know it, you've eaten the entire damn confection (more like inhaled, in my case). I should probably get to trying the actual Silvanas they sell here, but for the most part, the Black Bottoms and Josephines are top-of-mind, and they should also be your must-tries when you come here, too!

While I was down South, my friends and I decided that it would be great to end the night with something icy to cool down. We actually weren't sure where to get Bingsu but, thankfully, we found this hidden gem at Molito. Bingsu is basically the Korean version of shaved ice or halo halo. Imagine soft, icy snow with condensed milk poured on top then add any toppings of your liking: from mochi to fresh fruit to brownies! We arrived almost to closing time but they still allowed us to order. We decided to try the regular size of the Injeolmi, Mix Berry Yogurt, and Mango (of course!). There was a bit of wait since we were the last order and they ran out of ingredients and had to prep for more. So, we waited for about 15-20 minutes. While we were waiting, we decided to hangout in their "Snow Room"! Yes, they have a small room in the café where "snow" falls from the ceiling. Pretty cool making snowballs! :) After hanging out in the snow, our bingsu orders arrived. Among the 3 that we ordered, the best was actually the Injeolmi! It's was the most traditional one and it was also the most flavorful. It had the right amount of sweetness and it was packed with ingredients. The Mix Berry Yogurt was tart and had dried fruit which added the sweetness. The Mango Bingsu was a winner. But, I always ended up going back for more spoonfuls of the Injeolmi! The one common factor for all the Bingsu we ate though is that the ice was sooo fine, fluffy and creamy. One of the best quality bingsu I've tried so far! I will definitely come back when I'm in the South again. I hope I'll be able to try their Cheese Bingsu next time! :)

The snow room in the cafe was a pretty fun touch. The desserts they serve were certainly fun and just the goodness we needed. We ordered the chocolate snow ice, the small one, certainly, it was enough for two to share as a dessert. I'm used to the Taiwanese snow ice and this is certainly something new. Reminded me of the snow ice, but the ice was really flakey and soft, super fun for the palette. The chocolate wasn't overly sweet and was just plain enjoyable. We were already eyeballing the menu for our next visit and scoping out the other tables. It all looks so good!! If you need a cool pick me up... This should certainly do the trick! We hope to visit again soon and try everything eventually :) A la cuisine! Stay hungry my friends!

They have green plants on each table as a centerpiece. Currently, they have the cafe decked out in christmas decor of wreaths with glittery bright blue, purple and gold. The gift boxes come in a bright red color, very festive! They sort of highlight the store too since they are stacked in shelves behind the refrigerated cases. I convince my husband to spend a few mins to have a slice of cake and coffee. It only takes a few minutes to gobble up the cakes, im sure! I had the swiss chocolate cake that has the creamy meringue outside its chocolate sponge cake and honeycomb bits inside. Heaven! I swiped one of the two crinkles on my husband's plate. It was decadent! If you've never had chocolate crinkles before, you're missing out. Plus, I've been around and these are gold standard crinkles right here. The box of 24 is only 300 pesos! WORTH IT! We decided to get a box of 24 to eat later at home As I write this review, I just got home after two hours of driving. I have already polished 5/24 pcs. It had been left in the car for 5 hours before we actually headed home but it is amazingly soft and tastes freshly baked. I can't praise this bakery anymore than humanly possible. Just try it! The other branches might be closed but this one inside Valle Verde 1 village is still alive. On regular days they have plenty of lot parking in front of the basketball court.

If she ever comes home with any of them as a treat, I immediately zone in on the signature maroon box from Becky's and strategize the quickest way to get my hands on it then get to a safe place in the house where I wouldn't have to share. I'm happy they opened the branch in Valle Verde a while back because it's much nearer to where I live. What's more is that there's an actual dining area where you can have coffee and a slice of cake as opposed to their original branch in Taft with just the display cases, counter and some seating for waiting customers. If you have a chance to visit either location, I recommend their soft and flavorful Cheese Rolls and decadent Swiss Chocolate Cake in addition to their famous brownies and crinkles!
