Milkcow is a franchise from South Korea. They serve premium grade soft serve ice cream with a variety of toppings such as macarons, Oreo crumbs and fancy Australian honeycombs. It was undoubtedly very creamy, not watered down and it of course tastes way better than your average soft serve at McDonald's or Jollibee, but it's something I'd try once and come back to after a LONG while. It's good, but do I really want to go broke spending PHP 200 for one cup of soft serve ice cream? The answer depends on your income level, but hey it's something that's worth trying once. In my case, I had two cups and was horrified after realizing I spent almost PHP 500. I was happy though in that short time I was eating. You can really tell that all their ingredients are of the highest quality. Pick the honeycomb only if you know what a honeycomb is. It is absolutely delicious.

Meh. Aside from the instagram worthy creations of Milkcow, I don't think its bang for the buck. Imho, it's expensive for ice cream. The soft served ice cream was, true to what they've been claiming, creamy and thick.. but c'mon. I can find other that's more worth it... I was not happy. A lot of people are raving about it and it made me think if something's wrong with my taste buds. I've been thinking about it... but.. Nope. It just didn't hit the right spot. The macarons are impressive though. And I have to admit, milkcow's unique. They have cotton candy, honeycombs & jelly beans to go with the soft serve. I'm willing to try again soon. Maybe I wasn't just feeling up for some ice cream that day. i'm not sure. To be honest, the experience has just been a blur, forgettable to say the least. I'll pay more attention next time. I hope Milkcow doesn't disappoint this time. I like pa naman their location and ambiance. :)

Milkcow's Soft Serve Ice Cream with Honey

I love anything frozen. Ice cream, fruit shakes, milkshakes, ice cream cakes - you name any frozen dessert and I am instantly in. What with the scorching heat of the sun blaring on us Pinoys this summer season, it's no wonder ice cream shops have been popping up just about every nook and corner in the Metro. In Eastwood, one ice cream shop that's slowly getting some attention is Milkcow. They serve soft-serve ice cream with the option to go with different types of mixin's and fixin's to "customize" your icy dessert. Sounds fun, right? They've got different types of toppings such as cotton candy, honey, chocolate powder, etc., so for sure each order is #instagood. Definitely double-tap-worthy! Plus, the space itself is so clean, crisp and pretty - perfect for taking pictures of you and your friends enjoying a cup! One thing though that I kind of have a qualm about this place is the price. While each cup costs about 120-150 pesos, I think it could be priced a little lower. While the toppings are very unusual and unlike other ice cream or frozen yogurt shops, I still think the size of the actual dessert is a bit too small for its price.

I suppose it's enough to say that I've eaten here but it's probably not something I'd readily go back to experience again. Don't get me wrong. When Milkymoo says you're eating organic ice cream and honey, there's no doubt about it. It's creamy and milky, like you were literally having a glass of milk. It's blatantly pure unadulterated milk. The honey's nice, too. It's sweet and has that nice buttery aftertaste (and comes from an actual honeycomb cube, too. Now that's novelty.) and it's all in-your-face pure material. No preservatives. Unfortunately, it's also very expensive. For 150php, you get a sundae cup that's probably a bit smaller than a McDonald's sundae cup. I was expecting it to probably be the same *size* as a McDonald's sundae cup but alas. I just don't see myself paying that amount again for ice cream, no matter how good it is. So like I said: it's enough to say I've had it once and I know what it tastes like. The experience is enough. If ever I do go back, it'll probably be to taste their macaroons... or snack on another cube of honeycomb.

A lot of people say that Milkcow PH is probably one of the most overrated ice cream parlors here in the Philippines. It has gained a lot of negative reviews for being too overpriced and for its small serving size. In a way, I kinda agree. I totally love sweet treats, but I wouldn't spend too much money on a small cup of soft serve. I still love Milkcow PH, though. For me, Milkcow has somewhat changed my view on soft serve. Ice cream parlors that mainly sell soft serve, like Dairy Queen, are never really appreciated that much, because we tend to believe that not a lot of preparation time is needed for the creation of soft serve. It is also sold in popular fast food chains, like McDonald's and Jollibee, which completely ruins its chance of becoming an artisanal sweet treat. But, Milkcow is just different. Its soft serve is really smooth and the ingredients used to prepare it came from South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. You couldn't find a soft serve like this anywhere in the Philippines. It's a great place to try out, but I wouldn't bother becoming a regular here.

There's a sign that states where the line starts with poles guiding people as to where they should be falling in line. Like numerous others, I didn't see the sign. People started falling in line by the window, which is where I was sitting. I eventually moved my seat. Now, I totally understand what the hype is all about. They offer fruits, sauces, and crunch options that other frozen yogurt companies do not offer. While I was falling in line, someone was writing down what I wanted to order. I was impressed that she upsold me. I was asked which option I wanted. I opted for a cup or tub. Then she asked if I wanted a medium or a large. She didn't ask if I wanted a small, medium, or large. I'm thankful I ordered a medium! The couple behind me had a slight misunderstanding because the female ordered small for them to share. He didn't sound happy with her choice. Eventually, she changed the order to a larger size. I knew that I wanted mango. I am thankful that the employee suggested the Biscoff crunch and sauce. Oh my gosh, I slowly ate my yogurt. I wanted to enjoy every crunch with the sauce and yogurt. They gave a generous amount of everything. I would highly recommend llaollao!

Most of all, it is a place where we find comforting food which we can just eat, eat, eat. No pretentions at all. That's also the feeling I get when I go to Ice Cream House. The ice cream here is not in the league of Carmen's Best or Hagen Daz, but it is also, in my opinion, at par with most ice cream brands sold in the supermarket. Most of the time, I even prefer one particular line of ice cream from Ice Cream House than most brands in the supermarket. That line is the coconut-flavored ice cream often mixed with other ingredients, usually local fruits. But what I like best is the plain coconut flavored one which I can describe as simply delicious. Like a home, it is comforting, refreshing without unnecessary gimmick. I love it just the way it is and, even though I will explore other ice cream brands, I am sure I will keep coming back to this one.

Recently though, I stopped by a branch at Marikina, my hometown. While it was pretty delicious, I think most of the child-like goggle sheen has worn off. Really, Ice Cream House serves fairly average ice cream. I think what was kind of disappointing was that it didn't have a distinctive flavor. Yes, I'm pretty proud that all the ice cream here is homemade (who wouldn't be?) but it's kind of disappointing that there's none of that unique texture and flavor that you've come to expect from ice cream made locally. It tastes like normal western-made ice cream. They offer a fairly decent selection of flavors and combinations (including the beloved banana split) but if you're looking for all pinoy ice cream, you're better off going to your local dirty ice cream vendor.

Both waffles are crisp and buttery, a warm and toothsome combination with the chilled yogurt. I keep it simple when it comes to Red Mango: original fro-yo at 6 ounces (P125). With every topping that's added, prices can climb higher than initially expected. If I choose to add ripe mango and cheesecake, I shell out P35 more. I haven't quite perfected my artistic fro-yo game for this reason, but if my wallet had no boundaries, I would toss in Oreo crumbs, almonds, mochi balls, crushed graham crackers, fresh fruit, dark chocolate. And I would just stare at my creation for a while, admiring its majestic beauty, how it completely negates the purpose of ordering all-natural, low-calorie yogurt. This Red Mango's location near the cinemas of Eastwood Mall makes it a convenient dessert parlor to visit before or after a movie. If you're looking for a quick snack and don't want to get carried away with the sugary overload of candy near the cinema, frozen yogurt at Red Mango is a good alternative.

For making us visit another barangay for just a pint, it had to be. The circumstances really made me curious about this ice cream. Jokingly, I told my friend that I wouldn't leave her place without having tasted even just a spoonful. And, like a good friend indeed, when I told her I were to leave in a few minutes, she gave me a cup of Carmen's Salted Caramel Ice Cream. Just one taste and my leaving was stalled for awhile. That Salted Caramel was sooo delicous. Very sweet, rich and creamy. I could tell the makers really did not skimp on the ingredients. Sinful, I felt sinful.
