Most amazing European food in town. First thing you will notice is the interior is very…read moretraditional, nicely decorated and comfortable with classical music playing. Food is hand prepared to order and served by Europeans. The schnitzel is so big it could easily be cut in half to serve two people. Even something as simple as spatzle is prepared with fried onion to make it more interesting. It is not cheap but fortunately all prices include a side salad. Just missing the alcoholic beverages to make this 5 star. I think this is why some reviewers felt that the wait was too long. It didn't take any longer than expected for our freshly prepared food cooked to perfection!

Located in a strip mall in bells corners it has lots of parking and is easy to find. The portion sizes as you can see a large. A meal for two without alcohol including tip came to around $65 dollars. The food itself was good, but unfortunately not great. Truthfully it just didn't have a lot of flavour. I really wanted to love it here, but instead I just liked it. The service was average at best, but the restaurant is nicer inside than the pictures show. I think an older crowd who prefers less "flavour" will love it here. I will be back at some point to try the pierogies, but with lots of other spots to hit in the meantime... Happy eating!

Before heading to Ottawa VIA station in the morning, we wanted to get some food to eat in the train…read more(food in train is toooo expensive for the quality!). We were staying in Byward market area. Then I found this place - highly reputed among locals for its sandwiches using high quality deli meat and condiments from eastern Europe. They are open at 9am! Perfect! Nice little deli with one table in the store. Take-out spot. We got the following: # Turkey sandwich: Thick cut, generous turkey slices (taste like actual tender turkey breast) with lettuce, pickle, tomato, mayo, mustard, and roasted red pepper spread. Paired with smoked cheese slice. It was DELICIOUS. What set this apart from other sub/sandwich places is the use of roasted red pepper spread. It is a game changer. Bread (Kaiser) is fresh, crispy on the outside, slightly sweet and light interior, perfect for the rich meat slices. # Schnitzel sandwich: Pork schnitzel topped with sauerkraut salad and served on a toasted Kaiser. This was a bit disappointing - the schnitzel was very hard and dry. However, the sauerkraut salad and again, the roasted red pepper spread was perfect accompaniment. # Homemade Vienna cheesecake: Delicious!!! $2.99 per cake, homey taste. Fresh and light, with a hint of orange. Although I expressed negative for their schnitzel this time, I still want to rate 5. Affordablity, quality of cold cuts, selection of bread and choice of toppings and seasoning, and pleasant and efficient customer service- they do have something very special that I really want to recommend here highly. This place will be our go-to place. A must-visit in Byward!!!

Over all, great place to pick up some euro groceries. The food is good quality. The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable on the products in the store.

I've been wanting to try Ottawa Perogies for some time, but they have limited hours and are a bit…read moreout of the way for me, so I only recently got around to it. They sell perogies and other Eastern European snacks. Overall, the food was good, and reminded me of the home cooking of the mothers of my Slavic friends. I found the prices a bit high for what they were, but I guess nowadays that's not unsurprising. I got a ground pork and rice bun ($4), a ground beef crepe ($4) and a cottage cheese pancake ($4). The ground pork and rice bun was reminiscent of a cabbage roll in bun form, minus the cabbage and the tomato sauce, lol. It was heavy on the bun and rice and light on the pork, but tasted like comfort food. It reminded me a bit of the Asian buns filled with fillings like BBQ pork or curry beef as well. The bun was soft and almost brioche-like. The ground beef crepe was tasty, albeit a bit oily for my tastes. The crepe is a bit sweet, while the meat is slightly salty. The cottage cheese pancake was slightly sweet and I should have eaten this one last, as it was more dessert-like. I like that the cheese was thick and had a nice texture. Overall, the three items made a good snack. Service was courteous. The lady asked if I wanted the items warmed up and I liked that she placed them on a real plate to microwave them before putting them into a styrofoam box (I have seen some places put styrofoam in the microwave [shudder]). I mean I would have preferred if the box was cardboard, but at least they don't microwave styrofoam. The shop is located in a strip mall. There's plenty of free parking in the strip mall.

The service is good, all my questions were answered. Also tried pyrozhky, they were just ok. You can purchase Ukrainian souvenirs at this place as well.
