We were drawn to Chef's Center because of the Friday Night Food Fair that they put on. For Chef's…read moreCenter, it's an opportunity for its tenants to showcase and sell their products and when it joins forces with a few food trucks, it's quite a foodie spot.
Chef's Center is primarily a restaurant incubator. Fledgling food businesses can apply for a spot, become tenants (paying or not, not sure) and use their professional kitchen. It's a really great idea. I read enough food blogs to know that the leap from cooking in your own kitchen to churning out volume requires the upgrade to professional facilities. As someone who was just there for the food fair, I could only poke around from afar but the space was essentially a giant kitchen with separate areas designated for its tenants.
As for the Food Fair itself, I like the setup very much. Street parking is available on surrounding streets. The night we visited, there were four trucks, which is probably close to maxing out the truck parking capacity. Slammin Sliders, Cool Haus, Border Grill, and The Grilled Cheese Truck were in attendance. A handful of the Chef's Center tenants set up booths as well, selling cheesecake, baked goods, caramel, and rice pudding. Seating was probably the most luxurious of the amenities. There was ample indoor AND outdoor seating, at tables, with chairs! No need for tailgating here.
