Went to an event held by this company, the Food and Wine Festival at Calabasas - and was severely disappointed. The event was from 2 - 7PM, we got there at 3, and thought we would browse around before getting food...if only we had known what was waiting for us! We noticed a really long line at the entrance, and didn't realize that was the line for food, so we just walked by it to get to the back yard. We were all excited and what not, getting so carried away by the beautiful weather and the wine. That's when we started to realize that there was no food around. We walked around until we realized that the long line we had seen earlier was for food and food only. Why the food and the wine was not all at the same place boggles the mind. As a result, people ended up drinking a ton and not having any food in their stomachs - turning an elegant event into a drunken madness.
We started to line up for food at around 4PM, while we were standing in line, we kept hearing rumors that there was no food left. At this point, we had already been in line for 2 hours. It was so frustrating, because we never got any official announcement regarding the issue, we just got whispers from the people who were leaving the place. It was a place full of hungry, angry, drunk, disappointed people. Trust me, not very pleasant. I went up to ask the front if the rumors were true, and if he could at least give an explanation for the situation. If they were going to have that many people there, at LEAST have enough food! It was so poorly organized that when we were lining up, we were literally standing next to a pile of trash with flies swarming around, because no one could find a trash can. The fire department was called twice, and I assume it was because the place was SO packed and disorganized that it was a fire hazard.
I ended up leaving my boyfriend in line, and I went to complain to the guy at the front, but he kept saying he was going to call his supervisor, who just ignored him. We asked him who the second person in command was, and he tried calling her, who also ignored him. The guy ended up just giving us a card and left us waiting.
So to summarize. My boyfriend and i didn't get any food. The only food we did get was when the vendors came out and was like "OMG I feel sorry for these people!" and had people bring out little appetizers. I think all I ate was deviled eggs. They were very good, but still. I paid that much money to have deviled eggs? Are you kidding me? I was also left standing there when i tried to speak to the management team, who just kept blowing me off.
I emailed the company to complain, so we'll see if they respond. THINK TWICE before hiring this company. I might update the review though if I get some kind of response. I'll keep you yelpers updated! read more
