The atmosphere was pretty good and our server was really nice but unfortunately they undercooked our steak and over cooked one of our steaks and when we asked about it the server brought the manager to us and unfortunately this manager particular she was one of the worst managers I've ever encountered and she handled the situation very poorly but in the end they did comp us it was definitely not a huge deal but our experience at this restaurant was poorly damaged due to the managers response and attitude. the stomach ache from the undercooked steak was not nice either. Got the bone marrow burger medium rare - and was not disappointed. Sure the price is on the steeper side but the flavor: salty, creamy truffle sauce and blended marrow is worth it. Bonus points for cooking the meat properly as my medium rare was actually medium rare. Parking is available on the street - though street parking in downtown Berkeley can be difficult. Service was great and efficient. Wasn't too crowded but I've heard the place can get full fast so plan accordingly (esp for dinner). It's great value for the amount of fries you get - big enough for two, but you'll both be fighting over the dip! I have visited this place three times, mainly for birthday celebrations, but today (Wednesday) I visited only for "Hoppy" hour! The two of us decided to split a burger and a side salad. They have $5 mimosas and Bloody Marys for brunch and definitely push those. My friend tried a mimosa and was not impressed. We started with an appetizer of Mac and cheese balls which they are known for. Nice crisp exterior and creamy interior with a nice bite to the macaronis that is pleasant. We moved onto the jalapeño burger and it was juicy and well made. It wasn't too spicy and definitely filling. It comes with a nice runny egg in it which I liked bcos it added in a creaminess to the levels of flavors in the burger. For the last 4 years Eureka has been a regular hang out for me. From birthday dinners to cravings at midnight, Eureka has seen it all. The food here is solid, you really can't go wrong with their burgers but their appetizers are the real winners. There is a large variety of apps and personally i enjoy getting a few apps and sharing than getting a meal (but that's just me). My favorites have to be the wings, my friends can vouch for me that if they let me I'd happy go to Eureka and get the Sweet Orange Chile wings every single week. However, the truffle cheese fries and the lollipop corndogs are also favorites of mine. In addition to the food, they have quite the selection of drinks. From cocktails to a rotating selection of beer, you can find something that will suit your tastes. They have "hoppy" hour two times a day, the second being from 9pm to closing. During this time they have discounts on some appetizers and $2 off their permanent collection of beer. Honestly, my only complaint about Eureka (and the reason I can't give it 5 stars) is that the service can be a little unpredictable. There have been times were our server was no where to be found and trying to flag down someone was a little difficult but these times have been far and few between especially considering the number of times i've come here. All in all Eureka is a solid choice any day of the week. read more

Quality is always a coin-flip here, but things were especially bad recently. Server was incredibly not honest and the entire experience felt more like a fast food restaurant than a nicer looking sit-down place. Food wise: - Truffle fries were amazing - Burgers were good (orders messed up a little) - Side fries were cold/soggy :( - Cobb salad with chicken had chicken that wasn't edible - Firecracker riblets tasted more like pork jerky than a restaurant dish Honestly, just felt like the server was trying to scam us by intentionally misleading us and slipping charges in. They stole $72.81 from me. Came in for dine-in service with a reservation on Father's Day. Stood at the door for 5minutes before anyone acknowledged us and another 5 minutes before we were seated. When we were finally seated, we were placed in a corner. After waiting an additional 15 minutes for our waiter to come over, we decided to place an order on the website for pickup and have it brought to our table. Mind you, our waiter still hasn't come to take our order yet. After I placed the online order my estimated time was changed from 30 minutes to an HOUR LATER. We finally waved over a waiter who we explained what happened and asked them to cancel our order because we no longer wanted the food or the service. I was assured that my order would be cancelled and my funds held refunded within 48hrs. Father's Day was June 19. It is now June 28 and I'm forced to dispute this charge because I never received the food and ended up eating at another restaurant. My boyfriend reached out to Eureka! Via Facebook messenger that same night and never heard back. I would not recommend this place for the service. If you're picking up food to eat elsewhere, that's fine but avoid eating inside. The waitresses were very slow when I observed some standing around and not taking orders. Lastly, the waitress had short change my money by two dollars My daughter said she had extra change when she left in her hand when she brought back my change. A place like Eureka seems a little out of place in Berkeley. A little too...normal. Nice upscale-ish bar/restaurant with sliding windows that own onto the street (although no actual patio), with no special twist on the menu or anything. For vegetarians, there aren't a ton of options here. I've had both the falafel tacos and beet burger and I think that might be all your choices (minus salad of course). The beet burger was interesting. I've had many a veggie burger on my life but never with beets. But I think the recipe could use a little work as it was petty crumbly, as veggie burgers are wont to be. The falafel tacos come in lettuce cups and the falafel was ok but nothing special. They remind me of the falafel disks at Subway. Their happy hour hours are are quite extensive. There are appetizers and drinks on special. Tried the brussel sprouts and they were very good. The house fries are also super good. They come with house made ketchup that is so delicious. I've never left any in the little tin they give you. The sweet potato fries are done in a way I don't love: topped with honey and cinnamon. It's just too sweet for me, but you can all for them without and they are great. Overall, it's not a place I would come back to frequently. Just somewhere nice to take friends and visitors. read more

I've been here quite often over the past few years, since it's a solid place to take friends out to for a nice meal or drink. Ambiance is very lively and friendly, with plenty of seating and a bar in the back. Burgers here are top notch and delicious! I've had my fair share of them and you can't go wrong :) my personal favorite is the jalapeño egg, because I love a good runny egg on any sandwich! Happy hour goes till 6pm and starts back up in the evening at 9pm? (I think...) and there are some great deals there! $2 off wine and beer, but unfortunately limited to a portion of their menu. Sad that this HH doesn't include their cocktails. Their Moscow Mule is a usual for me, but be warned their drinks are a bit stronger than other bars. Their Moscow Mule is very gingery, so avoid it if you don't like that spice! Otherwise, a great place to catch up with friends over beer and burgers!
