It was busy but our experience seemed to be more a mismanagement of tables. We wanted to order more but it was difficult to do that. Unknowingly, the manager probably noticed our experience and came to take another order but I was too afraid of disappointment to order anything else. My mom ordered something else and it was great. I found a sweet potato fry in my nachos and I wasn't sure if that was intentional or not. The nachos were weird, how do i explain, my mom thought the beans were sweet the whole time until we realized it was a chipotle sauce. Food was actually delicious. First time here. I have one complaint and that if you go on a Saturday be very careful upsetting the bartender she was annoyed at us asking for a couple of samples of ciders. And when she brought bour appetizer she said nothing and sort of tossed them on the table. We let our server know who was very kind as to say he was so sorry for her actions. But that was pretty bad service. Parking is street only and they have a farmers market during the time we came out. I don't know if we will come back here. read more

I took Holly up on her offer and the food was significantly better. The gf bun as compared to last time was a completely different color. For example, the bun was almost white last time but this time it was normal brown color. I had to double check to make sure it was the gf bun but it was. Good food. And I know that Eureka is a chain and the prices are the prices, so I understand that it's not this restaurant's fault but I do wish they'd either separate fryers to have GF fries or do an option that doesn't cost an up charge if you can't do the fries. But other than that, the burger is good for someone with an allergy looking for a fix. read more

I tried what used to be my favorite burger place again for the first time in months and the quality has deteriorated big time. I tried their newer chipotle burger and it was overly greasy, the cheese was liquidy, and hence, the bun was soggy and unappetizing. Their sweet potato fries have changed vendors or were made wrong because they were too thick and not as crispy and sweet as they used to be. The portions have also become smaller over time. Overall, maybe it's because it was a Monday night but the food is not good anymore and I will unfortunately not be back. I'd recommend upgrading because the cheese and parsley add extra flavor. 28 Day Aged Bone Marrow: Delicious BUT it tasted like a good quality patty, couldn't really taste the bone marrow. Therefore, not missing out much if you do not order this $20 burger. Spicy Chicken Sandwich: No scovilles in this one. It was incredibly mild. The chicken was breaded to perfection though. Mac and Cheese Balls: What you'd expected out of fried Mac and cheese. Great texture and flavor though. Brussel Sprouts: Cooked to perfection and rich flavors. My introduction to the Downtown Berkeley location of Eureka! was Spring 2015 semester on a graduate school visit. Some of the graduate students in the department I was interviewing with decided to take me here for meal(s). While we were dining, I received my official offer letter via email. I was the 6th pick for a Michael M., and the other students did a good job encouraging me to still come. They even pointed out I could work with someone else if I chose UC Berkeley (which I ended up doing) and reminded me the City of Berkeley had good food. After arriving in Berkeley for my studies, I came to Eureka! a few more times. It was one of the restaurants in downtown that had a good set-up for lots of people. While it could get loud, I could still at least kind-of hear the other people at the table. Temperature inside the restaurant was consistent and not too far either way. Food was always delicious. For my tastes and time in the area (2015 to 2019, inclusive), it may have been the burger place with the best desserts. read more

I've been to Eureka several times and never wrote a review. On the last visit, we made a reservation. It was a good thing we did the room was packed. When we left the line was out of the door. The only problem with this is, it the room is very loud. I had trouble hearing my friend. For the restaurant that might be good we were in and out quickly. The noise almost ruined my meal. In the past, I ordered appetizers for my main course. That was a while ago so all I can say is I liked them. This time we arrived in time for the Happy Hour. We both ordered burgers and truffled cheese fries from the Happy Hour menu. I passed on a cocktail and had water The burger was great I asked for it rare and that is out it was brought t to the table. I was pleased I dislike overcooked burgers. The burger was tasty, I like the fries I ate every last one off my plate. I will go again and next time have appetizers and add an interesting drink. read more

One line review: Open late and plenty of food We have eaten at Eureka! on a number of occasions and typically enjoyed ourselves. The environment is clean and pleasant, and the service has been good-to-excellent; we've had some servers who were especially knowledgeable about the menu and their beers who were super helpful to us. The burgers are decent and we enjoyed our dessert (see pictured below), but one of the things that keeps us coming back is the flight of beers. My wife is something of a connoisseur, and she really enjoys their beers -- a nice complement to burgers and fries. Downtown Berkeley is not an easy place to park during the day, but we've always gone in the evening and found parking on the street nearby. I probably wouldn't want to have to deal with parking in the daytime. Bottom line: If you're looking for a late night food option, this is a good one. read more

We came after a movie showing at the BAMPFA. It was past 10, but this place was still popping. We ordered spicy fried chicken and a burger. Food-wise, I was very pleased. The fried chicken was so well-battered and mixed. It's really crispy outside and juicy inside. The burger also is delicious yet to greasy. But we also ordered a happy hour cocktails-margaritas. It was a bit too sweet and needed more alcohol. The place itself is cute as well. I love how this place has an orange tone with all the warm light. It gives people a sense of warmth. Prices are pretty reasonable for the portion sizes. BAJA FISH TACOS: 3.5/5 (~$17) These come with 2 tacos, but they're really filling! The batter on the fish was crunchy as were the veggies included. Overall, nothing special but good! TRUFFLE FRIES: 2/5 (+$3 upgrade to my entree) I was really hoping to like this but ended up getting overwhelmed by how cheesy it was. Service here by the bartender Jennifer L. absolutely disappointed me. A couple of my girl friends and I came for the happy hour cocktails, all of us having turned 21 a full year ago. Jennifer L. our bartender spent 20 minutes scrutinizing our IDs, accusing us of bringing in "fakes" when all of our IDs were real, and for the hour we were there, treated us with an outright hostile attitude. She interrogated all of us in a rude and accusatory manner, saying that we had "lied" about our eye color--which was black because we were from Asian descent. The manager came in to intervene and told us our IDs were just fine and we were good to stay. Other staff also visited us and apologized for their coworker Jennifer's attitude. We left feeling disrespected, looked down upon, and confused by her irrational behavior towards us, leaving us considering she was abiding by another agenda or reason for her baseless claims, perhaps because of our racial backgrounds. We have had our take out orders messed up more than a few times at this locations, and there seems to always be a shift change in the middle of our meals whenever we dine . I've never had a problem at any Eureka establishment; they stay consistent in my experience. The food comes out hot and there's never been a lack of flavor. The decor is nice and clean, and the staff is always nice. The beer here is also good, but they have a full bar if beer isn't your thing. Came here on a weekend around 1:30 and there was only about 5 groups eating. The place was large and had lots of seating. We ordered the chicken tenders and bone marrow burger and both were good. I have tried both of these at their other locations and thought they were much better than here. The fries were also a bit soggy. Wish they could have been better. However the food was a solid 3.5/5. One of our cups was dirty so we had to ask for another cup. I wish they had regular napkins because the cloth napkins are hard to use when u are eating a messy burger. I usually love Eureka, especially its happy hour. However, I've noticed a slow decline in quality over the past few years. At my visit today I ordered the spinach artichoke dip which used to be a favorite of mine. When it came out it was so greasy I couldn't take a single bite. The servers are really nice about it though, and they took it off my bill without question. Last time I ordered the grilled chicken nachos and it would've been great except for one thing--they forgot the chicken.
