I was skeptical at first but after giving it a try I can see why Eureka is popular. It's a solid place for burger, though a bit overpriced. We went on a Friday evening and it was crowded. The vibe of this place feels like a typical burger joint, a bit divey, loud, with sports playing in the background. We ordered the Fresno Fig and Bison, and enjoyed the Fresno Fig more. Adding fig marmalade and goat cheese (an otherwise salad combo) to the burger is such a brilliant idea. You can clearly taste all layers of the flavors in the burger. The bun was slightly sweet, which I enjoyed. The padding is fresh, tasty, and juicy. I'm also a fun of the spicy porter mustard, which has similar texture and taste like balsamic vinegar glaze. I swapped the fries for coleslaw, and was happily surprised. I liked how the veggies were not drenched in the dressing, but were flavored nicely. The staff was friendly and seated us right away outside where there were plenty of open spots and a number of heating lamps to keep me warm. May be a better fit if you want a classier alternative to sports bar, with the same divey feel? (I visited in January 2022) For COVID safety purposes, staff and patrons must wear masks. Indoor seating is open. Their space is dimly-lit, cramped, and just blasting with music. Our party of 8 had trouble hearing each other across the table, and the restaurant was pretty empty. Parking structure available up the street. TRUFFLE MUSHROOM CHEESEBURGER (medium well): Relying on that sauce for flavor?? Truffle sauce was savory, thick, and absolutely dousing the mushrooms. The burger itself was bland and chewy. A little heavy for my taste. Fries were standard. Service was horrendously slow-- we were seated for 30 mins and had to flag down a server before anyone even attended to us. After ordering, the first dish took over 45 mins to arrive. Stopped by here the other evening to catch up with a co-worker. As we only intended to have a few drinks, I opted for the open bar seating. Sadly, this apparently also translated to waiting really long periods of time while the bartenders ignored us while they were busy making endless drink orders. It became extremely awkward throughout the night as we attempted to place orders or close out our tabs, only to be met with extended periods of silence, avoided eye contact, and no acknowledgment of our presence. To the wait staff's credit though, when we were finally able to place app orders, the food arrived quickly. And all the waitresses were very friendly and helpful. The interior is very clean, spacious, and inviting. There are plenty of open bar area seating available in addition to table options. After we ordered, it did take quite a while (~30-40 minutes or so) to actually receive our food though. The burger was cooked nicely, and I really like the brioche bun that it was on as well. The sweet potato fries were also crispy and had a nice drizzle of honey on them. Came in around 11:30 and received one of the worst burgers I've ever had in my life. The server asked what temp I said med rare. The burger came out severely over cooked and dry. The fries came out hot but the tater tots were cold . The chips for the nachos were old and stale.. as a chef I would be embarrassed with the quality of food that came out of the kitchen.. you can tell the bar is the money maker here. The owners should be embarrassed that their restaurant put out poor quality food.. 20 bucks for a dry over cooked burger is ridiculous. I've had a better burger at Carl's Jr.. January 1st in Berkeley, one of the few restaurants open was Eureka! I had already come here once during the summer and had a great time. This time I came with my friend and had a relaxing time. As you come in to the hallway they have a glass displaying all the selection of whiskey this place has. The hostess greeted us right away, and took us to one of the tables near the windows. She left us with two menus, one for beer and cocktails and the other one for the food. This place has a huge variety in cocktails, beers, tequila, mezcal and whiskey. We ordered two beers a black berry sour and a hazy IPA from a local Oakland brewery. Our server Eric was very attentive and friendly, he brought us our drinks and water in a timely manner. The ambiance was very relaxing, just the perfect environment for the first day of the year. On the screens they had a football game playing, and opposite a college basketball game. The entertainment was on point! My friend ordered the Eureka burger, medium rare. The burger was juicy and soo good! I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, the chicken was crispy and the bun was soft. It comes with cole slaw on the sandwich and pickles, and an spicy aioli. I have to say that the last two bites of the sandwich tasted a bit too salty, but overall the food was delicious. The French fries were cooked to perfection, and they brought me all the sauces I asked, for me to be able to dip my fries on them. This is a good place to visit if you are in Berkeley. read more

If you're looking for good customer service do not waste your time here. When we sat down, we were told our waitress was on break and would be there shortly after we placed our order. After our order was place she never came to introduce herself nor were we given water. But I noticed she did bring water to a group of guys that she sat a few table over. Never once did she come over and asked how we were doing or needed anything. I even had to flag down the hostess to let her know I still have not received my drink after we finished our food. Don't know her name but she was an older Hispanic lady in her mid to late 50's. Keep in mind this was a Wednesday night and it was no where near busy. Great food, but service is struggling. Came by at 5pm on a Thursday to celebrate a friend's birthday and take advantage of their happy hour. Ordered a wild child and pride-themed cocktails, a fried mac n cheese appetizer to share, and a fried chicken sandwich with fries. Loved the food, there were no fries left behind. Their expanded outdoor patio is a great way to enjoy the late summer sunsets. Sadly, we had 3 server changes over the course of 1.5 hour meal, and our appetizer was lost along the way. It did eventually arrive, but after we had finished our meals and they charged us full price (even though we ordered well within the happy hour timing).
