Had my first ever colonoscopy with Dr. Lee. My experience was more than satisfactory (under the circumstances). Dr. Lee has great staff, and his process is very smooth. He spend just enough time with during the first visit to explain everything, in simple terms, and answer any questions. On the day of the procedure, everything was done perfect. I don't remember the actual procedure as I fell asleep after the doctor told me that he was going to start administering the medicine. At these words I woke up, and I was all done! First, I would like to say that Dr. Lee is an excellent physician. He is patient, attentive, and never makes you feel rushed during appointments. He truly listens and takes the time to address concerns, which is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, my experience with the front desk receptionist, LYNN, has been extremely disappointing. Interacting with her has been frustrating and discouraging. She comes across as very unprofessional and lacks the patience and compassion that are especially important in a medical office -- particularly when working with elderly patients or individuals who may struggle with technology, such as online portals or email communication. Instead of feeling supported, I often felt as though getting assistance or scheduling an appointment was an inconvenience to her. A medical practice should be welcoming and helpful from the very first point of contact, and that has not been my experience. It is frustrating and painful to deal with this woman. Dr. Lee provides wonderful care, but the front office experience does not reflect the same level of professionalism and compassion. Avoid at all cost. I met with Dr. Lee for an initial consultation for the gastro symptoms I've been facing for years. While he arrived promptly after I was escorted to a patient room, Dr. Lee was looking down at his phone for the majority of the time I was describing my symptoms to him and what I've done to attempt to address him. I gave him the benefit of the doubt initially despite the fact I found this disrespectful as I know some people can multi-task and perhaps there was a reason he needed to be so attentive to his phone but as him I asked him questions, it became clear he had not paid any attention to what I was talking about. He also gave one-word responses to questions I gave him. I've never experienced a medical professional so disengaged before. Reading through other Yelp reviews, it appears like its a pattern and can be potentially really dangerous. He was literally trying to leave several times as I was asking questions - the man could not get out of the room fast enough! On top of that, he was trying to push me to undergo expensive procedures without exploring other alternatives first. Icing on the cake was the staff was incredibly rude, there was no redeeming factors for this appointment. The visit was one of the worst medical experience in my life as well as the most expensive 15 mins (max) of my life. I repeat avoid at all cost. read more

Dr. Lee literally was the only doctor that listened to me and was the only doctor that figured out that my pain was coming from my gallbladder 2 years ago. Two months of unnecessary suffering and many tests. He recommended I get a HIDA scan and there was the answer all along. My gallbladder was only functioning at 70%, was full of sludge and stones. Unfortunately now two years later I find myself with more issues. I have had two video appointments (due to the coronavirus epidemic) with him in the last 2 weeks and he is just the most amazing Dr. He always listens to me and never talks over me. If there is 0 star I would give a 0 star. 10 minutes before my appointment, Brianna, the front desk receptionist called in to tell me that my appointment is cancelled. I have nothing against Dr. Lee, but the receptionist Brianna was extremely rude. I traveled a long way for the appointment, and was told the appointment was cancelled last minute, when I tried to explain the situation and see why they cancelled the appointment, Brianna failed to give a reasonable explanation and was almost yelling. Overall, it seems that she cannot care less about patients or their situations. Why work in a doctor's office, after all, if that is the case? Just work as a receptionist else where. I understand that things happen, but I believe there are much better ways of handling the situation. Certainly not rolling your eyes at a patient who needs help. read more

Dr. Lee has performed multiple colonoscopies and has always explained everything and kept me informed of the results of the biopsies.

I have been seeing Dr. Lee for many years for hiatal hernia and diverticulitis problems. His answer for all my problems was to take the medication pantoprazole or Omeptazole. He's great at ordering colonoscopies are endoscopies. When I have had scans performed either by him or other doctors I don't feel he has ever viewed them. I doubt if he even looks at the lab report, because if he did I would not have needed the major hiatal hernia surgery that was performed on August 1 of this year. If I had an alert doctor who caught the problem before it looked like the Grand Canyon my surgery and recuperation would've been less invasive and intensive. I also feel the time and care given my husband on an office visit compared to my visit is notably different. read more

Nice enough guy, but I feel he dropped the ball with me. For many years now I've suffered with a chronic stomach pain issue. 5+ years ago I came in to see why I had these stomach pains and ultimately there was no diagnosis ever made as to what my problem might be. "Come back in 3 years and let's see". 3 years later, I come back and state that the pain still occurs. "Ok let's do an utra-sound". Ultrasound comes back with a checklist of items, including a gallbladder full of gallstones. Dr. Lee says that we should do a colonoscopy and see what comes up there. That comes back with nothing out of the ordinary, just a couple minor issues, so Dr. Lee says "well, how about you eat more fiber and come back in 3 years". Note: The Dr. that reviewed the Ultra-sound results wrote that he recommends that I get a CT scan. CT scan was never suggested by Dr. Lee at anytime after the report was written. A friend asked if he could show the report to his boss, a Doctor, who also said I should get a CT scan immediately. I asked Dr. Lee about the CT scan and he said "Sure, if you want a CT scan I can order one up". That was when I decided I need to get another Doctor. I transferred to UCSF and within 2 weeks of being there, they found 3cm mass in my stomach area and I was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Back to the gallbladder, recently, I when in for a biopsy of the mass and while they were in there, they ended up taking my gallbladder out. Surgeon said that the gallbladder was massively infected and ready to blow. She said the amount of scar tissue in the stomach due to the gallbladder infection was massive. It was only a matter of time before it ruptured. Thank god I didn't take the 3 years and more fiber recommendation. Just Saying.. read more

When I first went to see him at his clinic in San Mateo, he was very personable and was willing to listen to my question(s) or to what I had to say. I went to see Dr. Lee for a routine colonoscopy referred by my primary physician. During the initial consultation prior to the procedure Dr. Lee asked me questions about my health. Was I experiencing indigestion? How long had I been taking Protonics for acid reflux? I told Dr. Lee that I had no symptoms of indigestion because I was taking Protonics for about 9 year and it was working great. I could eat whatever I wanted and didn''t get indigestion. He suggested that prior to the colonoscopy that he perform an endoscopy to check and make sure everything was ok. Dr. Lee performed the endoscopy and found a cancerous tumor at the bottom of my esophagus. Dr. Lee saved my life! He is an excellent doctor and wasn't just going through the motions when I called him to schedule a colonoscopy. I recommend him highly!!! read more

Went to Dr. Lee a few years ago for a colonoscopy and stomach issues. He was pleasant enough for our initial meeting but after that it was nothing short of ridiculous. I went to his office to have the procedures; colonoscopy, and gastric scan on a Saturday morning. The nurse told me he was running 2 hours behind, that they always double & triple book on Saturdays. After waiting for literally hours I was called in and told because it was a Sat. Dr. Lee wouldn't not be calling me in 24 hrs to see how I was doing and I needed to sign a waiver that I understood that. I was also told that Dr. Lee was too busy to see me before the procedure & if I had any last minute questions, she would answer them No one as friendly, helpful etc. I was prepped & wheeled in. I saw Lee for maybe two minutes before I blacked out. He barely acknowledged me, talking to his assistant. I woke up in recovery and never saw him again. A nurse told me I was fine & nothing was found and rushed me to get going. I heard from him weeks later when he finally called me. I asked him about the stomach pains I was still having & he told me to take an antacid & hung up. He was abrupt, rushed & clearly didn't want yo spend anytime answering any questions I had. This man runs a colonoscopy mill. He was one of the most unprofessional physicians I have ever met. I would never, ever go back & encourage people to run, run from his practice. read more
