One of those times when I am not satisfied with the treatment/service, but still feel that we should judge each other kindly/humanely.
My experience with Dr. Kao - when I had gone to him for consistent bowel movement problem. (I would not get the urge to use the restroom).
Pros:
- Super wonderful ladies on the Frontdesk, and in the check-up area. They are so sweet, caring, and polite, at one point I thought my bf, had he not been with me, would marry any one of them. Hats off for having such staff
- From the time I called, to the time of consultation, and checkup - there was very little wait time. Another wow factor
Cons:
- While Dr. Kao exhibits subject expertise, I do feel that the Colonoscopy was thrust on me and there could have been a way without it. Sensitive point. I say this because after Colonoscopy, nothing wrong was found in my body. So, easy for a Doctor to say, let's be safe and perform the test because the Doctor benefits regardless. To each his own
- When my Colonoscopy report came out normal, there was nothing Dr. Kao had to say on my condition. He essentially told me that my problem is there because I am thinking about it. I should have gone for counseling right, not a Gastroenterologist. At this point, my folly of going to Dr. Kao was evident to me.
- The final nail: He recommended a medicine which was for upper abdomen, while I mentioned to him that my challenge is in lower abdomen. At this point, he had stopped listening and told me let's just try this medicine.
So, here's summing up my experience: A procedure which costed a lot of money, was thrust on me, and which found nothing. Who benefited from the procedure, not tough to guess.
Eventually I was told that I am thinking about the problem, so the problem is there because of my thinking.
And, I read this about Dr. Kao by somebody else too. Being dismissive: When the trouble is in lower abdomen, why give an upper abdomen medication. Needless to say, it did not help going to Dr. Kao.
Finally, on my Colonoscopy report, there is a mention that the patient complained of stomach pain - which I never did. But, they wrote it to make a case for performing the procedure anyway. So that I cannot dispute later on.
End of the day, we are all human and no one is perfect. I liked that Dr. Kao projected that he will cure me; which was very reassuring. He exhibited, at least verbally, expertise of the subject. But, my problem was not cured.
All the best to the reader, and to Dr. Kao and his super wonderful staff. Peace. read more
