What I remember most about him is he always asking for my tv remote :0) to turn down the volume b/c I was using tv as a distraction of being very scared in the ICU. I apologize for having the volume up when you guys came in for your morning consults. Thank you for the great care and kindness you gave me Dr. Frederick I have never forgotten about that even though it was last year.

Dr Frederick and his staff are some of the finest medical professionals I've met, let alone been a patient of. I've been seeing him for over a year now for my autoimmune liver disease and he has been the most reassuring, encouraging, helpful Physician I've seen during this process. His staff are professional and meticulous. If you're a bit scatterbrained like myself, they'll send you helpful reminders and phone calls regarding your upcoming appointment. If your refills run low, it's a quick phone call and an almost instant refill. Most importantly, Dr Frederick takes to heart your unique case. He's unafraid of reaching out to colleagues for input and will utilize all possible avenues to achieve an understanding of what's ailing you and what's most likely to help. I am a very appreciative patient of Dr Frederick's. I know his job must be extremely taxing and stressful, but he makes the effort to appear calm and reassuring in all of his encounters. It's the part of being a physician that can't be taught in a classroom. Even when news of my condition isn't the most positive, he does his best to infuse hope into his explanations. I only wish I could do more to express my gratitude.

Highest recommendations for Dr Zare, Megan and staff! Extremely happy with the results…read more I was diagnosed with a Hiatal Hernia and started interviewing surgeons from Stanford, Sutter/PAMF, UCSF, and a couple of private doctors as well as checked local media for recommendations. I had read up on what procedures are available / watched the YouTube videos as well as the Doctors webpage so I had some idea of what I was in for. There are set protocols for further analysis of hiatal hernias after the usual endoscopy, esophagram/barium swallow but didn't make sense for my situation and scheduling procedures would have required a few months to get in. Luckily, Dr Zare reviewed the tests and my symptoms and knew what was needed and did not require further tests and was able to schedule me shortly after my first visit. Megan and staff provided fast, competent support and very quickly I was in for my laparoscopic paraesophageal surgery. All the other surgeons were more interested in following the protocol with additional tests that would have not provided any additional benefit (based on published clinical studies). Perhaps if they had reviewed more thoroughly my test results, they may have not warranted the additional motility tests. The surgery went as expected and only a partial toupet was performed that was very much appreciated based on latest surgical result data from my research. It is a painful procedure as incisions are made in the abs etc but appropriate meds made it a lot easier then having a full incision vs robotic. Trust is very important for me, as surgeons have to be able to make decisions in-the-moment and based on my discussions with Dr Zare and Megan, I felt very comfortable that I had made the right choices. Thank you Dr Zare and appreciate your help! I am symptom free and sleeping without worrying about reflux entering my lungs and starting to get back to sports/eating and enjoying life again!

My friend, a retired nurse, provided me with the recommendation to see Dr Chin. When I arrived,…read morethe very first form the admin had me sign was a financial responsibility form for labs, etc. Hmm, that was the first red flag. My appointment was right before lunch, and he was late by 35 mins so by the time we were done, it was during the admin staffs' lunch hour. After the 15min with Dr Chin, I left the office to use the restroom prior to picking up the lab boxes. When I returned, I found the door to the office to be locked, and spent 5mins outside waiting for the admin to open the door. Why would they lock the door? This isn't a supermarket or Trader Joe's with last minute shoppers trying to get in! The doctor ordered 2 lab tests, and when the admin (heavy set, Filipina I believe) provided me the lab supplies, considering the financial liability form I signed I had a few questions regarding Medicare coverage, she was very short with me. I think she was irritated at dealing with me during her lunch break. Net, she had no answers regarding coverage, and told me to call the numbers on the lab forms. Of course, when I called both numbers the following days (2 diff labs), no one returned my calls. After she provided the lab supplies I left but forgot to grab my hat. So I am banging on the locked door, this time for 10mins before the admin came to open the door. I tried calling but of course no answer, similar to the complaints and comments of the other reviewers. While Dr Chin may be a solid GI doc, the whole experience was a turn off. This medical group should consider spending more $ on the admins/experience, it's not like they cannot afford it. I ended up seeing a GI doc at Stanford who is excellent, informs me of what Medicare covers, and very happy I made the switch.
