I have been seeing Dr. Lee since my insurance was changed to Health Net in 2005. I was very…read moreconcerned about having to change Primary Care Physicians after having the same one for 15 years. Also I was taking some very strong pain medication for chronic lower back pain and I wanted to see if she had any problems prescribing same. Since it was still open enrollment for PCP I felt it would be better to get these things cleared up before signing with a doctor. I stopped by to meet Dr. Lee and her staff a month before my insurance took effect with her and her staff had a very difficult time with that since technically I was not insured to see her yet. Anyway, I briefly spoke with Dr. Lee and discussed the medications I was taking. Even though she appeared to be rushed and concerned about how this office visit was going to be paid, she assured me there would not be a problem. Okay, great, I thought this went much better than I expected.... Wrong! Come January, when Dr. Lee was my PCP, I dutifully made an appointment for an examination and all the rest that goes on with a first time doctor's visit, she had absolutely no recall of me nor my visit a month earlier and now, the medications became a problem for her since she did not know me or my problems. Ultimately, she did provide me with the prescriptions I routinely required. At this time I need to point out that the pain meds required a special prescription blank and had to be prescribed 30 days at a time, unlike my other meds that could be prescribed for a 90 day period. The first month passed and I again scheduled another appointment to see Dr. Lee. This time she was extremely short, did not seem to remember anything about me and again expresses great concern about prescribing my pain meds. This continued for two more visits whereupon she said, "I cannot continue to provide you with pain medication without knowing more about you." Now, we really locked horns! At that time I was 66 years old and in poor health with asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and chronic back pain and she is going to cut off my meds. It was not like I was shopping for a doctor to just provide pain meds and I had already shown, for the time I had been with her, the pain meds were not abused. Dr. Lee did provide me with one last prescription and a referral to a pain management specialist, one more doctor to see and one more copayment, but what choice did I have. I was at the point in time where I wanted to change PCPs but that would mean having to start all over again with another doctor so I decided to do as she recommended and see the other doctor. Actually, it was the best thing that ever happened. This group of doctors work with people in pain day in and day out. Now, back to Dr. Lee; the next time it came time to schedule an appointment, I decided to ask Dr. Lee to spend more that 3-5 minutes with me and allow me to introduce myself and maybe we could get off to a better relationship. Needless to say that is how things went and we both now have a very good patient doctor relationship. In the last 5 years, I have come to learn that Dr. Lee is actually a very caring individual who can take the time to know her patients. She can spend a few extra minutes with me and again, she truly does care about my health. I first thought that the entire office staff was cold, rude and just wanted my copayment. I also felt out-of-place, being the only white person in the waiting room. All the rest were Chinese, as was the staff. My relationship with the front office staff is also much better and they do remember me, even on the phone. I would highly recommend Dr. Shu May Lee as a physician, as I am very pleased with the treatment I receive.

I strongly suggest to not go to this doctor. She's a happy trigger medicine prescription doctor. I was explaining something about a letter that says that my son is my main caregiver. She said no I can't do that and gave me all kinds of sermon and left the room while I still had some questions. I felt like a 2 year old who got dismissed while she ran to her office. Not professional at all!!!

I've been going to Dr. Hwang for about three years now. I have to say he is the best Internest I…read morehave ever had. He is kind and empathetic and immediately puts you at ease. You can usually get a pretty fast appointment. He also gives you as much time as you need. He's one of the few physicians I've encountered who's not an a clock. He's also incredibly conscientious and attentive. I had some anomolous blood test results a year ago. The cause was not immediately apparent. But he worked through the differential diagnoses and referred me to an world-class hematologist, who concluded that the anomolies were benign. Huge relief. When he makes referrals, the docs are invariably tops in their fields. And best of all, he responds to email. Heaven! His office staff is generally attentive and efficient. They are on a very good EMR system that has an excellent patient interface (myhealthonline). But it still has limitations in terms of sharing records with other providers, referrals to out-of-network docs, etc. Where that happens, you're back to faxing things back and forth which drives me crazy. Who has a fax machine anymore? It's like asking patients to use carbon paper and white-out. Net net, Hwang is tops. I'm frankly surprised he's still taking new patients. I'd have assumed he'd be full up by now.

Horrible experience. He was not personable and his attitude is not one of a doctor that you would…read morewant. Would not go back to him.

I cant stress enough how awesome is Dr Wong…read more He is: - A top notch doctor who cares about his patients. I've been seeing him for 12+ years and no disappointment. He had me come in today to see him for possible flu so I need not to go to ER. In addition to my treatment Tamiflu, he called in RX for my hubby too. - He would make sure your lab results are read, and share with you. - If you leave a message, you'll know he will call you back. It just happens to be at 6-7pm (clinic closes at 5 and he's doing his follow up til late) - Beside the fact that he gets to know you and your family, he explains to you the lab test you'll be taking; what are we looking for as results, and when you should return. Patient centered care at it's best. I don't walk out the office confused. - Yes he takes time to get to you, but it's because he spends time with patients. Not one of those 8 min, you're done type doctor visit. - He does his own vitals. Not his M.A. or nurses. Even if they did, he rechecks it. What not to love about this doctor. Get to know him, and let him get to know you.

According to her, Dr. Wong told her she was being "annoying" and advised her to find another primary care physician rather than return to his practice. My mother is not someone who complains easily, so hearing about her experience was especially disappointing. As a primary care provider myself, I believe patients deserve to be treated with respect and compassion, even when visits are challenging. Based on my mother's experience, I would not recommend Dr. Wong as a primary care physician.

I've worked in medical offices as an administrator, and know how difficult it is to provide…read morepatient, personalized care when you're tied to a tight appointment schedule, but Dr. Lee and his staff have given my husband and me attentive and thoughtful care for the past 5 years. Dr. Lee always thoroughly reads through our charts, never makes us feel rushed, and even when we come in with "not a whole lot to report", he asks relevant lifestyle questions to assure that there's nothing else he might do to assist us in preventative care or improved overall health. He always calls us to give us test results-- the mundane and the newsworthy. Dr. Lee clearly takes pride in caring for his patience and considers internal medicine as a serious discipline which much be constantly studied and contemplated. He is the physician you want on your team if a serious diagnosis is to be tackled and treatment options considered. He has a significant senior population of patients but I love that as a patient in middle-age, he discusses preventative care with me to maintain my good health. Despite being out of the area, we continue to return him for our annual exams.

I asked Datalink ITS (record keeper company) to send my complete medical history to his office. The form I filled out to authorize the release asked me for Dr. Damon Lee's office address and fax #. The form did not specify how they will deliver my records. I tried to get Dr. Lee's office email but the receptionist roared, "We don't have an email here!" then hang up. Nevertheless, they ended up faxing a 150 page to his office. His office called me hysterical about the whole thing yelling at me to make it stop. Frantically, I called Datalink and left a message, and also emailed them. Moreover, Dr. Damon Lee's office called me back and continuously yelled at me because Datalink could not stop the fax. I was also informed after being scolded that because of this, Dr. Damon Lee is refusing to see me. I was stunned and distressed with their decision not to see me because of this error made by a third party. I explained that this should not affect their decision to see a patient. I reported this incident to the Medical Board of California because I believe a physician should not refuse to see patients for inconsequential incidents such as this. The lady at the front desk is extremely vicious (I am using a nice word here). I can't even express in words how she screamed at me and didn't even let me speak. I managed to ask her though if she had seen the reviews about her on yelp and she simply said she didn't care and slammed the phone on me!

They say they do this to make sure that their dementia patients are not being abused - I am all for that. They left her alone for 25 minutes which is unacceptable. Refused to let me in with her. She crying, confused and agitated by the time they let me in with her. It's not humane. If you insist on this policy, please plan this so the time they are alone is minimal, if at all. I tried for 6 months to reach the office manager to discuss this with him, left messages weekly and when Carlos finally called me back, he defended the policy, and hung up on me. Jessica King NP provided excellent care to my mom, and we are grateful for her. Getting prescriptions filled takes forever. They rarely answer the phone, and when they do they office staff is very nice, and they take messages that rarely get returned, or result in prescriptions being called in. Walgreens tries so hard to get through to them and can't either. We tried & tried because mom really liked Jessica, but dealing with the office was so difficult that we had to leave the practice. Saw Dr. Kealy a few times, and it she was rude to mom, barely examined her and did not listen to us. Jessica Kung, NP is the gold standard at this office, and the only thing good there. She deserves 5 stars, office deserves none. Strongly recommend going somewhere else.
