An ambundance of sandwiches and other bites was well presented on the trays. At another occasion, we had a choice from the menu that I found a bit reduced considering it being a hotel - but the basics were well-spread from a dressed hamburger to a tasty curry (it could be real Indian) and of course pastas and salads. But if you're spending a holiday you will esperience the need to have your dinners somewhere else and that may involve a drive to the next town (at least). The presentation room was available and neat, easy to access and to prepare so we could start in time. After the meeting, we gathered for drinks, in a good atmosphere but when people from the group left the seats were quickly rearranged giving to other members of the company the impression they needed to leave as well. Conclusion - a well presented, efficient accommodation for whatever you like to do. It could use a bit of personality and eagerness to make the clients stay longer (which creates more consumptions!).

Ah The Bull…read more Probably the most confusing layout of a hotel I've ever stayed in. Granted, England is a very old country and so the hotels are not the modern monoliths I am accustomed to. My co workers and I were booked here as it is one of the nicer accommodations near Pinewood Studios. This hotel struck me as a very business oriented hotel, not a place where one would go for a holiday (holiday is vacation in American English). The hotel features several large ballrooms used for conferences and they also have a beautiful garden in which they host weddings. The hotel is shaped like a square 'U' with the main areas being the bottom of the U and the rooms being the two uprights. To get to our rooms we had to walk through the Jack Shrimpton bar and snake our way past several doors and through 4 different corridors. The car park surrounds the hotel and there are more convenient entrances from those areas but our driver always dropped us of at the front of the hotel. The room I was in was big enough for two. The bathroom featured a very high bath with a fixed shower head, the standard heated towel rack. The bed was plenty firm and the little safe was just large enough for my American money and knick knacks I didn't want to lug around in my purse. Something that struck me right away was the lack of a clock. None to be had in the room. Time would be shown on the TV screen if you pushed the button but then it would disappear after 45 seconds or so. So bring an alarm clock, use your phone or schedule a wake up call if you need one. The mini bar/mini fridge in my room had also been taken out. Strange and kind of a deal breaker for me. I like keeping my own water and snacks in my own fridge, I eat a lot, what can I say. The blackout curtains worked really well for me. The bay windows made for an odd shape but the curtains were hardy enough that you could tuck them into one another to prevent the sun from leaking in at 5 in the morning (Oh English summers). It was funny how the two different bars at the hotel served different drinks. The Jack Shrimpton featured more ales on tap but had set hours. The other unnamed bar was pretty much 24 hours but had a limited selection of beers. So if you wanted a different beer you'd have to walk a bit back to the JS bar. Not a big deal. Because there weren't a lot of eateries within walking distance most of our stay there we ate at the bar or the Beeches Restaurant. The bar food was actually pretty good and the triple cooked chips (fries) were very nice. Alas, it is bar food so it was a lot of grease that my body was not that OK with. Overall the hotel is very nice but due to the old construction the hotel itself is very loud. I could hear everyone walking outside and all of the heavy doors slamming as businessmen left early in the morning. It was a little unnerving and since I was only there for a week, I never really got used to it. On one of the last nights we were there the Bull was hosting a wedding reception. They left a note in the room saying to expect some noise and that the complimentary breakfast bar in morning would be busy at certain times, which they indicated with a red, yellow and green time frames. The party wasn't too crazy, I could hear the music until 1:30 AM but it was a Friday, so not a huge deal. I wouldn't go calling this a 5 star hotel and I really just took a star off a four for the noise of the door and people walking around. If you're a fitness nut, the area surrounding offers some beautiful countryside to jog in and is relatively safe, even in the early morning. Overall, not a bad place to stay in Gerards Cross.

My room however was not worth the $1k per night I paid. No cookies, small bathroom, no AC (visited in the blazing summer), no fridge. The charges for food were outrageous. Lunch menu was limited and I spent $100 on a bowl of soup, salad and a couple of soft drinks. This all being said am I happy I stayed here, yes. Its a once in a lifetime stay that I would never repeat but I probably put the $5k I spent to better use as a down payment on a new car but you only live once!

Despite being basically on the tarmac, I was not bothered by the noises of airplanes and enjoyed a super comfy bed. The staff is accommodating and you have two different restaurants to choose from. An added bonus was the rooftop bar where you could watch airplanes coming in or leaving. I'd definitely stay here again. The bathrooms and rooms were clean. The AC actually keeps you cool too.

When you enter the hotel it is quite strange as you expect reception to be there - it's not. You have to go up in the lift to get to the reception. Once inside it's very obvious as to the newness of the building as it's all very modern. The reception is situated in the breakfast area which is a little strange but the check in staff are very helpful. There is also 2 computers in this area for guest use which is a nice touch. The rooms follow the theme of the rest of the hotel - very modern. There was a flat screen TV mounted onto a wood panel. Everything in the room was very clean. The only downside to the whole stay was that there was no bath - only a shower! Not much to grumble about!!

Jill brought us to The White Lion joking that, being only 400 years old, it was practically a brand new pub! We came in (mind your head), and were immediately sat down at a big, groaning, family table! Water was served, beers and ciders followed, and then meat pies and fish and chips were ordered all around! This meal was absolutely delicious in the way that only homemade country pub food can be. The cider selection was excellent, and we left refreshed, happy, and ready to take on the rest of our day (mind you, we ALL passed out cold in the van after Stonehenge and on the way back to our hotel)! We needed a place to stay for one night & opted for this place after my brother-in-law checked it out for us. The place was recently remodeled & I will say even though this place is a Crowne Plaza the staff, décor & service seemed more of a higher rated hotel. Check-in was quick & even though the staff member was a bit long winded (but in a very pleasant & helpful way) we were up in our room in a few minutes. Our room was an executive king room on the top floor. Very big, very new, very pretty! Since we had this room, we were told the food & drinks in the mini-bar were free. So was the breakfast & cocktail hour in the executive lounge. We did use the lounge while there for drinks (nice assortment) & breakfast. The breakfast was wonderful. Plenty to choose from hot or cold dishes, plenty of juices, yogurt, fruit, etc. Hands down the best bed I slept on during my visit. The linens were lush & the pillows were "just right". Even the complimentary robes, slippers & bath products were well above average. Keeping this place on my list to stay the next time we are in Buckinghamshire.

There is a gym that guests can use for a small fee that is 3 minutes away but it doesn't open until 8 or 9am depending on the day. That is too late for me since I was going to work early every day. The rooms are tiny with a double bed. I had a view of the rooftop next door. The mattress was pretty firm and the bed had 4 pillows one of which was a feather. The bathroom had a nice shower with one of those rain shower heads and the water got really hot. The shower door was one of those half doors that doesn't close. That seems a bit weird but it worked. The bathroom has a towel warmer but mine was not working which was unfortunate. It also got a bit stuffy in my room at night luckily the window was able to open a little bit, enough for fresh air! There are coffee pods, and tea in the room. I love that they give you the Walkers biscuits in your room. They are so good and there were many flavors that they replenished every day. Also they gave you water in your mini fridge. My co worker was not happy that there was no lotion or conditioner in the bathroom. She asked for lotion at the front desk but then had to buy some conditioner. I always bring mine so it wasn't a big deal for me. My reservation came with a buffet breakfast in the restaurant. It was your traditional English breakfast The coffee was horrible. 2/10 on the coffee scale. The location is fabulous and very walkable. Kitty corner to the Windsor castle and shopping is steps away.

If you are not a golfer, they have a spa that is perfect for some solo time, or for a day with girlfriends. There is a lounge/waiting area where you can order all sorts of snacks. Speaking of snacks, Stoke Park does the nicest tea service I have ever encountered. I could devour all three tiers of sandwiches and sweets all by myself, but only because I am little piggy.
