Overall good value but keep in mind this location is fairly far out from tourist sights. However the Tower of London and St Paul's is super accesible and within a 15 min walk. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The AC system was a little dated but worked! What was not so great was customer service. Everyone was fairly rude or short. We've stayed at the Club Quarters Hotel Lincoln's Inn Fields, and recently spent 5 nights over 2 separate stays (a week apart) at the Club Quarters at 7 Gracechurch Street. Oddly, the hotel finder app I use consistently shows Lincoln's Inn Fields as the more expensive of the 2 properties (though not by much) as does the hotel's website itself. And to be fair, Lincoln's Inn Fields seems just that tad swankier... and, of course, is walking distance to Covent Garden, Leicester Square, and all the touristic attractions in that area of town. By contrast the Club Quarters at 7 Gracechurch Street is in the City of London, further away from the bulk of the major and obvious attractions. It's also in what is primarily a business district that's hopping Monday through Friday, but is much sleepier on the weekends - to the point that finding a bite to eat can be a touch challenging. All of that preamble aside, this is a good hotel, a good value, and in a surprisingly good location, depending on what you are looking for. It's 2 stops on the bus - or not that much of a walk - from London Bridge Station. It's close to the tube - Bank, Monument, and Liverpool Street stations are all very close. From Bank you can catch the Waterloo and City line - a shuttle of sorts that goes directly to Waterloo Station, which is a quick and zippy way to get to much closer to Big Ben and Buckingham Palace, etc., than the hotel. The hotel is also very close to Spitalfields Market and Brick Lane, both of which are exceptionally cool. Dirty Dick's Tavern is an easy walk away - and Dirty Dick's is right across the street from Eataly, which is AMAZING. And directly across the street from the hotel? Fabulous, gorgeous Leadenhall Market! Wow. Oh - and there's a Wetherspoon right next door - convenient for a drink after you check in, and there's an Amazon Fresh (with decent selection of quick foods and some nice booze options) just a few doors down. The building itself is old. The rooms are quite spacious. We stayed on the 4th floor and the 5th floor, and rooms were very similar. We had a window both times, although on the 4th floor we were in a room on a back garden with a huge tree, which was just amazing. Rooms are clean. Bed linens are pristine. The beds are super comfortable, with heavenly pillows. You might only get 1 facecloth and 1 hand towel, even if you are a party of two - this inexplicably happened to us both times last week! :-) The television in your room will be large, but the programming is... bizarre. The channels often do not show what the guide says they will. One evening I was attempting to watch one of my favorite British shows about upcycling, and instead was treated to an Italian man's adventures with his dog. The Italian Man and His Dog show was also on 2 channels away, where a cooking show was listed. Stick with BBS News and you will be fine. Otherwise, it's a crap shoot. Our only actual complaint was the remote control, which in both rooms was scuzzy and dirt-flecked. That could REALLY use some improvement. Otherwise, we plan to stay here again next time we're in London. I'll cap off by saying that the lobby is pretty sweet. Many comfy chairs and a big TV under an enormous chandelier. Lovely flowers that are changed daily. And the coffee and tea are free all day! Also... THERE IS FREE WINE in the late afternoon. Staff put out a couple of bottles of red, and a couple of bottles of white, and you can park yourself in a wing back chair and sip a glass for FREE. Definitely loved this hotel. It was a perfect boutique hotel that has all the amenities one needs to get around London. Rooms were quite spacious, especially compared to the other hotel we stayed at on our second trip to London. Beds were quite comfortable as well. The coffee alone is worth a whole star. Unlimited coffee - but like fancy stuff. None of this instant, bitter stuff you find your room. A luxurious coffee maker that will make you a latte, cappuccino, or both! Hotel staff is friendly and very helpful. They helped us book a private driver when needed and were extremely knowledgeable about the many different tube lines. Four stars simply because of location. It is walking distance to many attractions like the Tower of London, but we had a hard time finding good restaurants within walking distance that stayed open past 8:00. Five stars for the best accommodations at this price point in this location with the amenities provided. Now let's break that down... Before proceeding, note that some of the reviews may be from folks who are taking advantage of member pricing. If your organization is a member of CQ, you get very competitive pricing. CQ then uses discount sites (Hotwire et. al) to fill the rest of the rooms. The location of this hotel is amazing. Across the street from Leadenhall Market (with some amazing bars and restaurants including arguably the best fish/chips you'll find in London - oh and some Harry Potter lore?). Within walking distance from the Bank of England, Monument to London Fire, St. Paul's Church, London Bridge. A short bus/tube ride (less than 10 minutes) puts you at Tower Bridge, London Tower, Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square. And everything in between. Most of the time, you'll pay through the nose for that type of location. Not at CQ. Accommodations wise in your room - you get your double room with A/C, free wifi, outlets next to the bed, at the desk, and in the bathroom (it's up in the light fixture on top of the mirror). Lights next to the bed on both sides (including night lights). You also get usb ports (for charging) at the desk and bedside. The TV also allows you to cast your device (youtube, netflix, etc.) as well as order room service and several other cute functions (in addition to watching TV). Coffee and tea maker in room. Soap, conditioner, lotion, towel, hand towel, AND washcloth provided (I've stayed at places where wash cloths were NOT provided...). Oh, BTW, there is also a complimentary yoga mat and resistance bands provided in the closet - use the TV to access CQ Fit videos. On each floor there is a complimentary water dispenser with empty bottles for you to take and re-fill (please don't just use it once and throw it away then take another one; take the ONE and RE-FILL it). Down on the first level, there is complimentary tea, coffee, soda, water, and light snacks. There's also a free wine hour from 5pm - 6pm. There's a full exercise room, business center, and business meeting space on the lower level. There's an onsite Spanish steakhouse attached to the hotel. Each room has a window - the window doesn't view much - but that's not why you're here. The rooms might be on the small side, but they're large enough for a double bed, two end tables, a desk, work chair, easy chair, closet, and bathroom (note the bathrooms don't have tubs, but again, that's not why you're at THIS hotel). Check in is relatively simple; kiosk based. There's staff to help you every step of the way and the process is fairly intuitive. The $$$ saved from not having a full service desk is used to provide all the features listed above that are INCLUDED in the price of your stay. Again, for the accommodations and amenities provided at this location, the price is hard to beat. I mean very hard. I stayed here in 2008 for 3 days. :-) It's a small property, but with all necessary amenities (including Internet but at an additional cost, though) and a great option for someone on a budget. It might seem pricey, but hello, 3 words: dollar versus euro! Yet comparatively with other hotels in London, this one is much more affordable, and if you're splitting costs with a roomie, then you're made! There's a subway station nearby, so you can go everywhere! The decoration style is very classic, dark wood, library-ish in the lobby, and a little more contemporary in the rooms. Pleasant & affordable stay in London. Check-in was smooth & easy at a kiosk with the assistance by staff. The space of our room was a bit small (I did hit my shoulder against the wall by the slanted ceiling a couple of times going around the bed and I'm only 5' 2") but had everything we needed for our long weekend in London. Location was perfect for the boyfriend and me - we usually prefer being just outside the busy tourist center with easy access to public transport. We were also excited to discover Leadenhall Market (the real Diagon Alley) was just across the street. Perhaps I was unfamiliar with the proper way to use this particular style of toilet, but we called the front desk informing them we had issues flushing it and they said someone would come... and no one ever did. Eventually we (the bf) figured out that you needed to 'pump' water in first before it actually flushed. However, I did love that each floor had a water bottle station with empty water bottles available for you to fill/refill on your way out. This is the first and only time I've seen this available at a hotel and I found it a great amenity. We actually kept that same bottle and have been using it throughout our travels in Europe. Also, there is a self-serve coffee kiosk machine available in the lobby all day long which is convenient. read more

For my visits, I could not select a better location (I do review other hotels, but have yet to find one that is so well located and reasonably priced). Despite this being labelled as a three-star hotel, I think the services provided are close to the five-star ranking. I will continue to return for my London stays. read more

I found the CQ Hotel Gracechurch through Tripadvisor and I am so grateful I did. The reviews seemed better than the prices for other hotels in this area of London, and I booked quickly (same day actually). My partner and I were already in London for a family emergency, but we needed to extend our trip and be closer to St. Bart's Hospital. Club Quarters fit the bill and them some! I don't get surprised easily, but this hotel amazed me for the price (big cheers to all the all staff--and Prakesh Joshi the General Manager who deserves special mention for his excellence and dedication). We were truly made to feel like we were at home. Any needs were responded to very quickly, and we had all the amenities we needed for a long and stressful stay due to our family issues. The building appears recently updated, the lobby has free fancy coffee all day and night, the affiliated Gaucho's restaurant is well done, and access to tubes and buses to go just about anywhere are steps away. The whole hotel was spotless, their COVID precautions are top notch, and their flexibility with helping us be comfortable and making sure we they were doing everything they could to support us as we handled our not-vacation circumstances was above and beyond. The staff left me feeling that is not just a business, it is a family devoted to making their guests' lives better. A 200-room hotel and you are made to feel like their most important guest. There is a personal commitment and pride in their work that is not only rare these days in my experience but truly inspiring. Any negatives? Our TVs had some tech problems but we were quickly moved to a different (better) suite. And the self-serve printer in the lobby needed more ink, but--issues so minor. The wifi is fast and reliable, moreso than at our previous hotel. And if you are a walker, the London Bridge is close by for a beautiful sunset stroll, along with so much else. So the rooms are small and the hotel is for business travelers.... Now, the glue that makes this hotel sticky for me: 1. The people that work here are amazing, they bend over backwards to help always. 2. There is water available in refillable bottles here that you can use in your room, the gym, or on your way throughout London. 3. The breakfast restaurant is charming, the food delicious and the people that work there are amazing. By the way, this is where I met my wife. So, I am biased (in a good way). 4. Last, but not least, this place is in the middle of the City of London. Location, location, location. It is steps from the Bank of England, St Pauls, the Tower of London, and Tower Bridge. Stayed for one night with my partner during an overnight trip to London. The hotel is quite lovely, rooms fairly small, but I would expect you'd be out and about most of the time so that's not a huge issue. I was most impressed by the refillable water bottles by the lift (doesn't take much to impress me) and the steakhouse adjacent to the hotel- a MUST try if you love steak and you're looking to indulge a bit. Overall, no complaints. I found the location to be great for a weekend because its quiet but close enough to everything that you don't have to worry about missing out. Stayed here for two nights. Well location is great. I booked it thru Hotwire.com it"s said to be a 4star hotel..well well well I don't see the 4Star quality. When you walk in, they have Kiosk to check you in. The agent wanted us to check in on the kiosk. Ok something new. They had problems with the computers we had to wait for the key to be made for our room. Front desk agent was a bit rough but helpful at the end. Rooms were clean but no coffee maker, no fridge, no safe, no view, no outlets in the bathroom, you have to shave or blow dry your hair in the bedroom .......no luxury here :) just a room to lay your head. Maybe in the UK its normal not to have an outlet in the bathroom since the buildings are so old not sure ...?? I have to say the toilet paper was good quality. They offer free internet and free tea and coffee in the lobby, which is good. Another thing I really liked they have books in the room. I really liked that!! read more

Without a doubt - one of the worst business hotels I've stayed. It became integrated into my organizations process - so I find myself booked there in NYC and London (until I insisted - never again). The beds are uncomfortable with a very thin blanket. The bathroom is tiny with a terrible layout. The shower curtain in London blew inward from the water pressure - so that it wrapped around me while showering. The new entertainment system does not work properly and there is no MUTE button on the remote. The app (which they promote everywhere) is terrible and does not work properly. Club Quarters used to be fairly functional (albeit dorm-like), but now it is an obvious negative. Frequent travel is often hard enough - but it becomes downright awful if one is forced to stay in this hotel. Do yourself a favor stay (anywhere) else read more

If you would like to live in an approximation of early 20th century servants quarters you absolutely must stay at City of London Club Quarters. From a 2 person room designed for one, to one towel per person for a two week stay, no housekeeping even when requested, and resorting to purchasing your own toilet paper after giving up on requests going unfulfilled, you'll know what it would've been like to live in a house with staff that doesn't wait on you. Granted, the staff were friendly, however my expectations that they were employed to care for guests were misplaced. A two week overseas trip was cut short by two days, willingly forfeiting an extra $100 to change airline dates and the remaining prepaid two nights at the hotel, because the room, and bed in particular, were so extremely uncomfortable that we were no longer able to enjoy our "once in a lifetime" 20th wedding anniversary trip. If this sounds like the place for you, by all means, book a room ASAP! read more

It is good value for money and the rooms are of a reasonable standard, they have tea and coffee making facilities, television and well equipped bathrooms. This is a hotel right in the centre of London. Catering seems to be via the Gaucho restaurant which is attached. You need to watch out as it's a bit pricey. However the good news is there is a Wetherspoon's next door (closed on Sunday) which is really good value. The hotel itself is ok but the rooms are a bit small. It is priced at normal London prices so not cheap but nor is it expensive @ around £120 a night. Rooms are clean and tidy with flat screen TV and a place to dock your IPOD! In the hall there is a nice touch with water coolers with disposable bottles. You check yourself in and out via a machine, although there is usually someone on the desk if you need help. In the lobby there is a quite area which is a bit like a club where you can get free tea, coffee etc. Best of all free Wifi (other hotels to take note) so you can sit quietly and do a little work without entering more credit card details etc. Overall a nice quiet (ish) hotel ideally located. read more

Top on price but it was a bit spartan and we were given a pretty small room. The staff were superb though, which made up for the limitations elsewhere. Being immaculately clean, the comfy bed and pretty good shower helped make this a great place to throw down our heads after a night on the town. We were put in a disabled room (it was very busy in town with lots of visiting German football fans, good weather and a bank holiday). It was functional and seemed to have everything laid out as it should have been. Ideal for a city worker who wants a place to lay their head: it's clearly a business hotel that tops up its coffers at the weekend by taking in tourists. Free wifi. I slept like a top, it was very quiet and the great service made it a worthwhile stopover. It's only a few stops on the tube from the centre of town. Very convenient & relatively cheap hotel which is handy for the City of London. Room are clean and comfortable if a bit dingy. They are also fairly small, so not the place I would choose if I expected to relax in the hotel room and watch TV (sets are tiny!) after a hard day. Free wifi is a nice touch if you need to work. Food is provided via the Goucho Grill, which is decent if not cheap. There is a comfortable seating area in reception with tea & coffee. Staff will also bring drinks & basic food from the bar below. Stayed here last year on a works paid for theatre trip, looks like it is a bank on the outside (which it once was) once inside there is a tiny reception area adjoining a small lounge area with reading marerials and drink making facillities. There was a mix up with our booking 1 room was double booked, we were kept waiting for ages with no apologies, when it was finally sorted out we went to our rooms which i thought were on a par to a travel lodge it was pretty basic for the price (which didnt include breakfast) there were drinks making stuff the bathroom was the best feature with a really good shower, you could go to the supplies cupboard if you needed exrta pillows, iron etc. Our room overlooked a dingy roof but i suppose we wernt there for the view. Breakfast next morning was expensive but yummy there was continental or full English loads of choice.
