They charge you for using your debit card, which no other medical dispensary in the area does, if they had told me about the card fee when I called to ask if they took debit cards, I would have just brought cash. I asked the dispensary employee for their preferred strain- they told me the Etain tangie is really nice and grown by the dispensary. See picture for how dried out and awful it was. Also they gave me ground flower when I ordered, and paid for whole flower. When I contacted them, they did bring me a replacement product of the whole flower- but it was still as dried out and yellow as the ground flower. They did throw in a free grinder which was a nice touch, and I appreciated them making it right, but their products still do not justify the cost at all. 4. The only product I remotely felt something are the Forte pills. An entire bottle was good for 3 uses. They only have their proprietary blend. The cartridges and the flower are all proprietary. I felt the forte for 20-30 minutes but that was it. It's a nice store, but the products don't match the prices or the store interior. Too bad. If they had better products I would be a client. I went to Etain yesterday for my first ever MMJ purchase. The experience was super easy and relaxing at all steps. They gave me a booklet to read while I waited - gave all the pros and cons to their products. Then I met with a pharmacist who was such a huge help with picking the right products for my symptoms. As for the products themselves - fantastic, I got my first good night of sleep in a couple years. Not sure why there are negative reviews of this place. The prices are high, but I'd rather have a more medical/spa approach than what you'd see in recreational stores. The packaging tries to hard to look like Apple & I think that goes against a lot of the sustainability part of their mission (it's a women-owned company with a pretty impressive "about" section). read more

Yesterday I went to this dispensary for the first time because my usual one ran out of flowers. It was different, I'm use to having budtendors and when I walked in I hardly was greeted and no one even bothered to ask my name until I said something. The ambiance of the place is beautiful, obviously a woman owned business. Yet, the owner herself didn't even introduce herself, as they were getting displays ready of the free samples that were being giving out. Now to the actual bud. After I was shown the menu and placed my order, the whole front page was not in stock, so they didn't have the strains I originally wanted to order. Nonetheless I chose another alternative. I purchased a citrus krush and an indica leaning hybrid of ground flower/ shakes. I thought the price for the ground flower was kind of high and In NY you can't see or smell the flowers before purchasing, so I went on the trust system. When I got home I was very disappointed with the quality of the weed. Firstly, I was taken aback by the orange color of the whole flower. Granted, it is a citrus strain, but I was a little skeptical that the orange smell stood out more than everything. The shakes looked like herbs and spices and I found little hairs (maybe dog hairs) in it. I thought "maybe I'm tripping let me smoke it to see." And y'all...it was the most basic, regular of regs. For this to be a medical dispensary who urges customers to "buy weed from woman" I was highly disappointed. Everything that glitters isn't gold and as pretty as this place is- the weed is subpar. Friendly staff, nice offices, that's a plus. However, I went there to try out their Forte vape cartridge ($84 MSRP comes with mandatory battery, USB adapter and case). Battery died after 3 days, cartridge is questionable quality (it was about half filled to start with), sometimes there is no vape coming out like the heater core was getting shorted or not providing enough power to vaporize anything. I logged into my ancient Yelp account solely to warn people about Etain's pricing scheme. After seeing the prices for other places, I realize that they are really taking advantage of sick people, and that grosses me out and pisses me off. Nathaniel Z's review is spot on. The office is nice, the staff are really friendly, but that doesn't negate the major issue of their price gouging. There's a reason why they hide their prices from their website (I couldn't even get them by phone, tried multiple times). I am new to NYC and had no idea that the prices could vary so much from one place to another or I would never have gone there. One visit and I will not be back. (If you do end up in here, do *not* let them sell you one of their really cheap vape pens. They leak and don't work very well at all. WHAT A JOKE. My first 1 star review ever I believe. Medical marijuana in NY is the under control of bad legislation and has severely limited offerings, high price fixing, and a host of of other issues, but Etain takes it to the next level and makes it worse. I cringed when I saw their succulent plants they used for decor dying. They are succulents! Water them once every two weeks. Not difficult. I mentioned the dying plants to two employees and they just shrugged their shoulders. I said "these are living creatures that need care, like you and I. Isn't that what this operation is founded upon? Caring for ill creatures with the healing power of plants?" I saw a glimmer of acknowledgement in their eyes. These aren't bad people, everyone was courteous, it's how the place is managed. These plants were literally starving of illness of neglect, and this was characteristic of their operation. First off, they literally charge more for less than their competitors - their CO2 vape extraction cartridges are hardly filled. They are trying to squeeze every last penny out. I've bought equivalent sized cartridges at other NY medical marijuana vendors, and at the rate I use them, they should last weeks. This lasted me 6 days. The batteries that they purchased to package with their cartridges are cheap crap. I can get a better one at any vape shop within 3 block radius. I did buy some CBD oil, at behest of the prescribing physician, the price was outrageous. 3-4 price you would see in CA or CO. Or on the street. Out and out extortion, and of the worse kind, because they are taking advantage of ill people. No shame in their game. I'm sure they justify it when they go to bed at night, especially since the state demands a $200,000 non-refundable fee just to apply to become a medical marijuana dispenser in the state of NY. That's how bad the legislation is. But that's the heart of the problem. It should be about the patients first, not the money. It's a great way to raise money through taxes, but this is not a tax scheme. This is a broken retail scheme. But these centers are not run by doctors, they have no allegiance to the Hippocratic oath. The hypocrisy oath, on the other hand, it looks like they got that nailed down. If you are in the NYC area, and don't want to buy off the street - which is flooded with CA pre-packaged products - I found Vireo in Queens the best of the bunch thus far. read more

This is a new program in New York State. The state rules make you have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get medicine. This is going to be true no matter where you go. It's not the establishments fault for this, nor the pricing of these medicines available in New York State. This location is new looking and clean and it is a legitimate business. I found my experience to be pleasant and as quick as possible given the surrounding circumstances to which the establishment has little control. I was diagnosed with having Parkinson's disease several years ago and found that smoking marijuana relieved some of the depression and my weight-loss that came with this progressive condition. However, the pot smoke irritated my lungs so I thought that I would try the New York Medical Marijuana Program which has a (under the tongue) marijuana oil drops ingestion component. This works well for me but the cost of the oil is high ($90 & $160) and the amount of oil you get is very small. Also, it is impossible to see how much medicine is in the tiny eyedropper bottle as there is a label on it that completely prevents seeing the amount of medicine in the bottle. I found that Etain's product is good, but the cost is too high and its packaging hides the amount of product. read more

OK so here's my whole experience. I get there and was treated well at first. I wasn't completely prepared unknowingly and the receptionist, a kind hearted knowledgeable guy took care of me without any fuss. Even help me with some final online papers using his own computer because my phone was not working well. I saw a woman at the counter she was kind Also but I really didn't interact with her at all. Then I finally met the pharmacist. Keep in mind I have lots of questions I've never really smoked before and this was recommendation by my doctor for my chronic pain. The pharmacist seemed friendly at first but she lost her patience quickly she obviously did not want me there. I felt I was rushed and I almost feel I got the wrong medicine. I understand she probably deals with lot of people but I was the only one in the office. When she was trying to show me how to use the lighter pen. I wasn't quite getting it at first all the clicking she literally grabbed it out of my hand was very physical. It wasn't a pleasant experience for my first time at one of these stores. Will I return? Not sure. I'll be treated better elsewhere I think. It's obvious if you're a beginner with questions Etain is not for you. I wish the pharmacist would take pointers from her receptionist. read more

Well, although their prices were three times higher than the place I shop, I bought their product to give it a shot. They gave a free vape pen, which looks nice, without additional charge. Cool. The cartridge started leaking a clogging the same day. Meh, probably a faulty cartridge, it can happen. I went back the next day, and they did not ask any questions, and did not charge an additional penny to give a new cartridge. Cool. I went back home. Two days with no problem. Third day it started leaking and clogging again. At this point, I did not want to have another trip to Manhattan. I also thought that they will think I am just doing that on purpose to get free stuff. Hence I did not return it for a new one. I am back to my original store. True, that Etain's product is much stronger than other stores, but their faulty cartridges make that factor useless. read more

I'm writing this review for my brother who is a MMJ card holder. He was mislead to believe that the vape cartridge he was buying had 2.8grams. After using the product he realizes that the cartridge contains only 1gram of concentrate. Spending OVER 200 bucks on a cartridge that contains only 2.8grams of oil is pushing it but since it's medical grade he thought it could be worth it. Finding out later that the cartridge only contains 1 gram of oil was honestly hilarious. I laughed so hard because even the most reputable sellers in legalized locations wouldn't dare to have such prices. STRAIGHT ROBBERY/THIEVERY. Terrible costumer service. I contacted Etain Health via email regarding not seeing important details about the potency of products on the website. Stephanie "Chief of Staff" got back to me and informed me how to navigate the site to get info on potency. I did as instructed. Not found! My perspective is that I need to do research on the dispensary before to make a decision where to go. Stephani was entirely unhelpful and curt. She told to take it up with someone at the store, essentially saying don't bother me again. This is the opposite experience of every single dispensary I've ever shopped! (incidentally all female owned!) Go to a place where one can get answers, be patiently oriented to the store, and be provided with complete product information while treating customers with respect and being nice. I will not return. Too expensive. Their vape pens are a total rip off. Their tincture is great, but expensive and they only sell 2 ml vial. If you want to avoid the black market, then NY state's regressive medical marijuana laws will not help, at all. You can either spend ridiculous amounts of money (taking advantage of sick people is gross) on etain products, or you can buy flower from Stoney Joe (your local dealer) and infuse your own with a Magical Butter machine or a Levo. For the price of 2 ml of Etain tincture, you can make a mason jar of medicine. Nice people. Nice clinics. Very pure products. Expensive and flawed. She knew everything about all the products and delivery mechanisms. - Products are very pure and high end. Importantly, the vape doesn't use propylene glycol or other additives to make it work - it's purely cannabis derived. I have had my medical card for over a year and never needed a referral, that's what the card is for. When they tried to get the referral they said the system is down and they have no idea how long it will take, they suggested I call NY state of health for them... This place has a lovely atmosphere but disreputable. We paid over $400 for a months supply of product. The bottle that contained the liquid oil was broken and every time we tried to use it we would lose drops. When I called to report this the reply was "We will send you a replacement". None ever arrived. Weeks later I called again and again the reply was "We will get that right out to you". Again nothing arrived. I would never recommend this dispensary to anyone. read more

Eh, this place is definitely better than Medicore Men around the block. But, if you give a crap about the environment or your wallet, you should stay clear. The amount of garbage produced from buying just one vape is disturbing. They require you to buy a battery with every vape, which comes in its own case, and a the cartridge comes in a novelty medicine bottle surrounded by a bunch of plastic and paper that is completely unnecessary. Their stuff is pretty good but way overpriced. Their staff is relatively friendly. The most frustrating thing and main reason for my 1 star review is how awful their vape cartridges are. Over half the cartridges I purchased did not work properly. They only have a 72 hour window to refund. Also even the cartridges that do work just stop working at the end when they start to get low so you don't even get the full bang for your buck...and everything is way overpriced to start with anyway.
