I was impressed from the first visit with the careful, thoughtful attention she gives to what I am saying while mentally noting what she observes from her holistic approach. Her desire for her patients to improve is quite apparent...she seems to be constantly evaluating, assessing, making adjustments in treatment to yield the best results. Another reviewer said this: "She was on an all-out mission to eradicate the source of my condition." And I can't say it better myself. Within a short time migraine frequency and duration began to lessen...which is amazing as nothing else had worked to truly lessen them since they began in 1997. And other symptoms have improved as well :) In addition to sharing her expertise in acupuncture, Yvette has great knowledge of nutrition, herbs, cycles in the body...I could go on...This has been my first experience with acupuncture and I knew nothing about it prior. I recommend Yvette all the time. I am sure there are other good acupuncturists but I never tell someone they should "try acupuncture" I tell them they should see Yvette.

Yvette treated my chronic migraines with both acupuncture and herbal prescriptions, greatly reducing my pain and frequency. She was also the only medical practitioner who could solve a months-long acid reflux episode (despite the gastroenterologist having previously told me I would have reflux for life!) The only reason I no longer see Yvette is I have moved out of Rhode Island, but I make an appointment whenever I am back in town! I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Before Covid, I developed this chronic itch all over my body. It affected my sleep and my overall way of life for a few years.I did see my primary and an allergist for my condition. I was told it could be stress related and was given pills for my symptoms. I then decided to see Dr. Mags at Zara Acupuncture. I have been seeing her for over a year, and I have to say, what she does, it works! Since starting with her, my symptoms have become less and less. Now, I don't remember when my last episode was. Dr. Mags is so knowledgeable, caring, and down to earth. I continue to go to her as I find that my sessions with her helps my day-to-day stuff. Also, her practice is beautiful- such a calming space to walk into. Going to acupuncture isn't a one-and-done deal. Give it time. You will see results.

But treatment with Magdlen helped to lessen the pain on the first visit, I have heard to visit acupunturist to help with Migrianes, but never had the time to visit one, But since i was on vacation and really wanted to enjoy the last week there, i went to see Magdalen , and I am glad i did! Other than been great on what she does, She is super kind and it really nice to know that providers are not losing the bedside manner and really takes the time to listen and get to know you, NOT the only problem that i have, is that i dont live close by to see her every week :) But she made me beleive on acuputure and It's worth a try.

I went her clinic almost every week to every two weeks when I was doing Masters of Public Health, and she served me like as my primary care physician. She is kind and open to any kind of conversation, so I was able to discuss my pain, numbness, insomnia, stress, fibroid uterus, nasal polyp, eye strain, etc - all holistic health problems. Also she counsels also for my life situations- so that I was able to discuss my problems around me, like mice in the house, loss of place to stay, etc and she gave me practical advice. So It was very supportive for me to have her to go through my semester. About her treatment, just an example, I had severe menstral pain due to fibroid, yet taking her needles for one or two times before menstration along with my own internal medication almost cleared the pain. She also took insurance for Brown student, which was extremely helpful. Also she has student discount. I had only gotten acupuncture once before coming here, but I've been here a handful of times now and I always leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. I'll describe the experience thoroughly for anyone who might be interested in trying it out but not sure what to expect! It's easiest to make an appointment over the phone, but I suppose you could walk in too! You can chose what you pay from $20-40. When you walk in, you check in and pay at the front desk and either wait in the waiting area or usually head straight back to the treatment area. There are two rooms with lots of reclining chairs, kind of set up like a dialysis clinic. You can pick a chair, make yourself comfortable, and take off your shoes and socks. There is plenty of signage all over the place so it's really easy to figure out what to do. The acupuncturist will come over when they have a free moment. They'll ask you a few questions about what is bothering you (if anything) and then place about 12-15 very thin needles at various locations on your body. You may need to roll up your sleeves and pant legs so I would wear loose clothing--you want to be comfortable anyway! After the needles are placed it's up to you how long you want to hang out. Most people stay around 45 minutes to 1 hour. A lot of people will fall asleep or shut their eyes. There's really no rules (as long as you put your phone away)! When you're all done, you can get the acupuncturist's attention and they'll take the needles out for you. Overall, the atmosphere at PCA is the perfect balance of relaxing and casual yet 100% professional. I highly recommend PCA to anyone who is interested in trying out acupuncture at an unbeatable price!

I'm honestly not someone who usually writes reviews, but my experience with Marisa has been so…read moreimpactful that I felt like I had to share. I drive over an hour each way to see her and it's been so worth it. I originally went to see Marisa for extreme anxiety and ongoing sleep issues, after trying what felt like every modality out there: somatic exercises, journaling, therapy, BIT, meditation, breath-work...you name it. While many of those helped in their own ways, nothing truly moved the needle for me the way hypnoacupuncture with Marisa has. From my very first session, there was an obvious shift. Even the people around me noticed. After that first session, the tension in my shoulders decreased, and the only way I can describe it is that everything (physically & mentally) felt like it had been taken down a notch. Since working with her, my sleep has completely transformed. I went from having an extremely hard time falling asleep and waking up almost every hour, to now pretty much sleeping through the night. If I do wake up, I can fall back asleep easily, and I'm even dreaming a lot which I take as a sign I'm finally getting deep, restful sleep. I've seen such drastic improvements that I genuinely feel like I have a new baseline. I feel so much more in control of my anxiety now and honestly like a completely different person than I was just a few months ago. It's been truly life changing. I honestly wish I could see her weekly. The closest way I can describe how you feel leaving a session is like you just had a massage; you're so relaxed, grounded, and at ease. Marisa has truly touched my life. She is genuinely an angel. She listens, she cares deeply, and she is incredibly dedicated to her clients. If she doesn't have an answer right away, she always follows up, whether by email or the next time you see her, which says so much about the level of thought and attention she gives. I don't feel comfortable around many people, but there's something about her energy that is so light and reassuring. She creates such a safe, welcoming environment, and it makes all the difference. I'm so grateful to have found her and truly can't recommend her enough.
