We just relocated from Bakersfield CA to Hendersonville NC. Estes was by far the least expensive. The drivers I dealt with were both great (both sides). An office person named Anne was also very helpful and friendly. The reason for not doing 5 star is the ramp. The ramp itself is a beast to deal with. Very dangerous in my opinion. I ended up taking the complete truck, so I asked the terminal manager what to do with the ramp. He said to put it in the back in front of the barrier, however, I used the complete truck and there was no room. They do not ship with the ramp (he told me). So I offered to drive it to his office, but he had someone close. They picked up up and when we were unloading in North Carolina, they failed to bring a ramp with the truck. I guess normally, people do not use the complete truck. They brought out the ramp after I had finished unloading. They had charged me $250 extra because they could not put the ramp in the truck and had to send a second vehicle out for it. Really, not my problem, it was like be penalized for using the complete truck, even though being charge for the extra space. They did eventually refund the complete $250. In the stressfulness of a move like that, it would have been nice not to have that extra stress. All turned out well though, I would use them again. If you use the whole truck, just communicate that beforehand and should have no issues. read more

The driver left a very large, very heavy box right in the middle of my driveway and now I can't get my car out of the garage. I was home when it was delivered but no one came to the door to let me know it was being delivered. I have a three wide driveway and there was plenty of room to deliver it on the other side. If the driver had come to the door, I would have had them deliver it to the far side or could have moved my car out of the way. Very rude to leave it right in front of the garage door. It apparently didn't occur to them that there might be a car in the garage that needed to get out. Very poor customer service. If I could have left no stars, I would have. read more

I wish I can give less than one star. I ordered a pallet from home depot and got an email saying that it is going to be delivered between 10am and 4 pm. I waited all day but nothing. I called Estes and they said they got the "wrong address". So I updated my address even Home Depot correctly put my address on the purchase order. Also, I set up an appointment between 10am to 2 pm. However, on the day of delivery, although I has asked to be informed by the driver when he was headed my way, I received no call, text, or email heads-up, and the 750 lb pallet was placed directly on my driveway in such a way as to partially block it. I just received a delivery of a heavy product and they were suppose to get an adult signature at the time of delivery. Not only they didn't do that, but they didn't even ring the bell and just left he large product on a wooden crate in the middle of my driveway that blocked my car and left. Worst service ever. Lost my pickup order multiple times and can't even get the return company correct! Had a package that needed to be picked up for return from Walmart. Called Walmart customer service 1.5 weeks prior and sent a pickup request and scheduled a date and time. On the data pick up I called and they couldn't find my pick up order in their system, so I called Walmart and did a three-way conference call. Found out that Walmart has sent in the request to them on the day of the request 1.5 weeks ago, yet ESTES NEVER processed the order, no tracking was ever made! Incompetent! So ESTES told us to cancel the return and request a new one, so the Walmart rep did. And they told me I would receive an email to schedule the pick up this time. A few hours later, I received this email. First the email says it's from target.com, wrong! Then it has my name as "DESTROY DESTROY DESTROY". WTF? Ordered 16 foot long handrail (oak) through Home Depot. Shipment was described as "oversized item". Estes made 7 hour delivery window (!!!!) After 5 hours Truck arrived and the driver tried to give me a yellow plastic piece (approximately 10 inches big) instead of the 16 foot handrail. This plastic piece seemed to be a part of the packaging materials used for the handrail since the shipping label with my name and address was on it. Pathetic. read more

Estes express did $7500 worth of damage to my driveway, running over an inclined section back and forth for an hour trying to position their large rental truck for delivery. The driver was either either inept or incapacitated. The company claimed to have opened an insurance claim for over two months, each time replying that someone would follow up shortly. No one ever did. I was advised by a lawyer that 90 days is the deadline to file suit in small claims and I should do so because they are giving me the run around Terrible dishonest business. Ordered a very expensive RV refrigerator from etrailer.com and they decided to use ESTES to ship it. Email from e-tailer stated ESTES should contact me once the item arrives to arrange curbside delivery. Well, ESTES in Fort Worth did not call at all and showed up unannounced on a rainy morning and left the expensive fridge in front of our house (in the elements) without even attempting to call MY NUMBER which was listed on the paperwork. Lazy company, lazy driver, PERIOD. Hopefully the fridge works. The worst thing is that ESTES does not care about feedback, or care to do anything to correct their mistakes, or even improve from them. My shipment was supposed to be here 2 days ago so I checked my order online at Home Depot. It shows that my delivery had been waiting at Grand Prairie, TX since June 10. I called Home Depot which referred me back to this company which then had to transfer me to another terminal. This whole process took about an hour. I found out they had the wrong phone number on file for me (Home Depot's fault obviously) and they had tried to contact me once on Monday, June 16th to try and schedule an appointment. Driver's are friendly and helpful. Appointment clerks are not. They regularly schedule appointments before the drivers are even clocked in. They've made it known its the receivers responsibility to schedule but there's no way to tell if it's reached the final terminal which means I'm calling to randomly check in. Last time it took me 4 back and forth calls to get one set. This won't be an issue if you don't need an appointment but for those who do go with Old Dominion freight. read more

Large item on a pallet delivered by one person. We have a process gravel driveway and he got stuck. My wife happened to be home, and the guy said she had to get behind and push! Of note: no one was required to be home to receive the delivery. If she was not there, i shudder to think of the outcome. When I called to voice my frustration, the "customer service" representative listened to my grievance but honestly she sounded pretty apathetic about the whole thing. Worst experience ever trying to receive a delivery! Absolutely do not recommend. I ordered a chest freezer from Home Depot with white glove delivery. They did not contact me to schedule delivery. They just randomly picked their own date and timeframe. Then they said they couldn't deliver to a gravel driveway or put in my garage as per the threshold delivery I paid for when I ordered the freezer. Then they lost the freezer. Finally, weeks later it was delivered a 25 cu. ft freezer by one guy who couldn't get it up the driveway on a pallet jack so he used my dolly then left it outside my garage instead of inside despite the rollup door being wide open.
