Super convenient, since it's barely just off the beach. A little hard to just stumble upon, since it's hidden behind a restaurant and kinda looks like a hotel entrance. A tad pricey, but really hit the spot after a few hours of swimming and sun. Cuban Sandwich: Was more on the spongy bready-texture, instead of like a crispy panini, but it did have a nice amount of grilled crunch. Seems heavy on the tender roast pork, which is fine by me. The pickles were kinda like thick rounds instead of long and thin, so the pickle taste could have been stronger. Same with the mustard, could have been a little heavier. Ham and swiss cheese portion was fine. Ropa Vieja Melt: I was expecting something similar in style to a Cuban sandwich. In reality, it was more like a Sloppy Joe. Soft bun with lots of saucy ropa vieja inside. Very tender shredded beef and lots of nice bell peppers. There was a ton of melted cheese on top. It was quite messy, but very tasty. Ropa Vieja Wrap: This was a much better manifestation of ropa vieja than the melt. It's kinda like a burrito with rice, black beans and sweet plantains. Ropa vieja is a perfect burrito filling, since it's got the texture of carnitas but must better Cuban flavors. Tostones: Huge thick rounds. Crispy on the edges and little tender towards the center. Really enjoyed the citrusy and garlicky mojo sauce for a nice tang. Yuca Fries: Literally just 4 fries. They were tasty for sure, perfectly crisp on the outside and mushy inside. But literally just 4 fries. Malanga Chips: Looks like taro, but apparently it's slightly different. Big and salty and crunchy, a great pairing to anything you order here and bring to the beach. read more

While I was walking in south beach, I wanted a snack. This location caught my eye because I thought the outside decor was cute. I looked at the menu and saw they had empanadas. I ordered two and as I walking and eating, it tasted homemade. The empanadas were hot and freshly made. The sauce was different but it was good to dip it in. Once I started to walk back, I had to stop and get two more because it was that good. I still had things to do later that night so I tried their cafe bon bon. Cuban coffee is no joke. After I mixed the coffee and the condensed milk, it was sweet but you can still taste that strong coffee taste. That last sip was amazing. I never thought to drink coffee with condensed milk. That coffee kept me up and awake. The lady who took my order was sweet and just happy to be there. It felt like home. If you pass by here, make sure to stop. Grab yourself some of the cheese pastries because it's by far one of the best I've had in my lifetime. The guava cheese one was okay, but I generally am not a fan. Their meat pies were okay. The cream cheese one was so good, I went back to get a second one. They specialize in Cuban coffee, but gave americano, Expresso, as well as cappuccino. They brew it fresh with an impressive Expresso machine. Seating is in the common space outside of the establishment. Before my flight I stop by the Stefan Kitchen Express restaurant. Surprised by the numerous items of the menu and the many choices to prepare and ready to take out. There was a little fridge by the counter were I saw the salads, I was looking for a no meat salad and I found the Caesar salad, fresh ingredients and very nicely packed. (Lettuce-Cheese and Dressing), the salad came with crouton, they were still crispy and the salad tasted fresh. I really like that everything was separated but packed on the same container so I could enjoy it during my flight. I also got a baked chicken empanada and it was great. It was definitely bigger than the other restaurants at the airport and the flavor was excellent. Not greasy or salty. It had lots of filling and it tasted delicious. A must try! This was a very unexpected surprise. We walked around and didn't see anything appealing until we saw this place. We love Cuban food so we were familiar with the menu. There is a bit of wait because the food is made on the spot. Friendly cashier. We had plenty of time to wait for the food but once it came out it was delicious and hot from kitchen. Drinks were ok. The bowl I got was less bountiful than the sample plate they had arranged on display, but the protein quality was good, the beans were seasoned well, and everything was piping hot. One corner of the hot Cuban wasn't entirely cooked through where the dough was folded over, but the rest of it was tasty; my husband only regretted not getting the classic sandwich for a higher pickle presence. I was impressed at how fast my order was taken and how long I waited for my food. I should have realized when the sandwich I ordered, cuban mix, was ready quickly. I opened it up at a table nearby and it was basically cold. I was hoping the pressed part of the sandwich would have warmed it up, but one bite in and the center was room temp. I was hoping for a hot pressed sandwich, not a room temp cuban sandwich. I forced myself to take a few more bites since I paid a lot of money for it. I couldn't bring myself to eat more than a bit though. The saving grace of this spot was the guava pastry I bought - so AMAZING. I ran into this small counter service food spot by accident in Miami airport. They only had a few bar stools so you may have to squeeze in to order but the young man behind the counter named Andy was very attentive. Luckily, there was one empty stool and he took my order right away. He suggested the Lechon Flatbread (roasted pork, mozzarella, sweet plantains, honey, and truffle oil). It's made to order so it was served piping hot. The bread was toasty and toppings were very tasty. He also made me a Blue Long Island. It wasn't too sweet and pretty strong so no complaints here :) They also have offer pre-baked empanadas, Cuban sandwiches and pastelitos. I got the vegan flatbread at about 8am not knowing what to expect except I finally found something VEGAN in this dang airport. The service was polite and fast. The flatbread had red peppers, corn, zucchini and vegan cheese. The cheese did look weird but it was gooey and yum. It def hit the spot after looking at ten different menus for vegan food. I know airport food is notoriously expensive but paying close to $10 for a cubano hurt. Service took a while but the cashier was very nice. When I finally got my cubano I was severely disappointed. It was minuscule. I think it only had a slice of ham and exactly three pickles. Definitely not what I'm used to back home. Argh, the pressed egg breakfast sandwich here is not good. The eggs were pre-cooked, over cooked and way too salty. Thankfully the Cuban sandwich bread was edible (actually delicious) because I had no time to buy something else. Threw the eggs and ham from the sandwich out. Although it's relatively small in size, they offer plenty of Cuban staples that Miami's cuisine is known for such as empanadas, croquetas, and those meat and potato balls perfect for quick consumption. The lechón flatbread was great too as I shared it with my beau. It's got a vivid appearance in the front right the blue neon lights and the salsa music playing so it's definitely hard to miss. There's a fair share of Cocktails available to get your buzz on right before boarding. Sometimes the line can get long during busier flying hours so keep that in mind if you're ordering something large when you don't have much time. The sandwich was loaded with pork, ham and Swiss cheese. Worth every bit of $11 and change, honestly I would've paid a couple more dollars for it. I was really surprised by the amount of quality food establishments in the MIA airport. Gloria just caught my eye amongst the rest. She has a very flashy spot I can only describe as a tiny semi circle bar with a kitchen behind it. It has LED panels above and below the bar. It almost feels like youre in Vegas, ha. I got the roasted pork bowl. It tasted decently fresh, and the flavor was sufficient as well. When youre in the airport, you can only hope for the best when getting food.
