I got a number of bids to have my new home's chimneys re-crowned as well as having a new cap installed on one of them. What ended up making me choose to have SHCS complete this work for me was how quickly my quote request was returned, the honesty in Bob's answers to all my questions. I contacted Bob in late December and he explained the work couldn't be done till spring but that he'd take a look at my chimneys and get me a quote, which he did immediately. When I agreed to have him do the work he scheduled me for spring and as soon as it was warm enough I got a call to schedule the work. He explained the weather looked clear for the coming Tuesday which worked well for us so I agreed. He than showed up on Friday the week before and completed the work because the weather was nicer than expected. Who can complain about quicker service?!?!? All that said, the thing that really pushed me to a 5 star review the most was the emails I got immediately following the work as well as a call confirming the work was completed. But the email really did it for me, it included my work order and before and after photos of the work. That is one of those little things that makes a huge difference to me and honestly Bob was already pretty set for 5 stars before the email. Finally no more leaky chimney that the previous owners neglected. TL;DR - fantastic service, ideal pricing and before and after photos emailed as promptly as possible.

We were SO pleased when founder Jon Tor himself came for the initial inspection in mid June; we were quickly provided with a fair estimate. The "2nd Level" inspection was professionally performed by Chris on July 1st, who also provided a solid inspection report within a week; we paid the deposit immediately. An uncomplicated, half-day installation would be in the summer as planned; we just had to wait for the local permit. But then July turned into August, and we were kept waiting. When is that permit coming? Each week we were bumped out as a bigger, masonry project went ahead of us. Finally, on September 19th, with no set work date from Tor Chimney, I went in person to the Building Inspector's office and was stunned to find out that the permit had been issued IN JULY (7/29)! I immediately asked for a refund on the balance from Tor Chimney (promptly given) and contacted another fireplace contractor who did their own inspection and actually did the work even sooner than they said they would (within a month!). I write this now with my spectacular upgraded gas insert glowing brightly, but still feeling a bit burned for having been strung along all August and most of September while later but larger projects were prioritized.

I knew he would take apart the dryer to clean the lint from inside the bottom as well as get the duct work cleaned. He tested everything after he was done and wasn't happy with the force of the air coming out from the roof vent. He went up into our attic and took apart a section of the vent pipe and found a stubborn ball of lint. That made all the difference. Like my last review, Jon was on time (actually a few minutes early) changed his footwear every time he entered and left the house, completely cleaned up everything in the area where he worked and even went up on the roof in the rain. We stopped in the Holland location to inquire about a wood insert for the old fireplace on the home we just purchased. Dean was awesome! He took his time with us (especially my picky other half) explaining the differences in each unit available. He even came out the same day and measured, to make sure the choices he was offering us could fit. Installation was by Steve, who was great. It seemed like second nature as he and his helper tore out my old rusty parts and installed the shiny new liner and insert. He also explained to us step by step how to break in our new unit and made sure we had no questions before he left. A month after install (and plenty of fires) we had some insulation fall from the chimney (happens 1% of the time, about par for my home) and all it took was a phone call. Steve was right back the next day and addressed the problem. He even cleaned the glass and vacuumed the ash out, leaving our unit looking brand new. He even noticed it was a little out of plumb and leveled it out for us. We had shopped around for a while but decided on Estates and couldn't have been happier with our decision. Definitely going to be our maintenance provider for years to come. read more

Our 1883 three story double flue chimney had crumbling masonry, cracked terra cotta liner on one side and a steel liner installed incorrectly-creosote dripped to the outside. I could not find a chimney business within 50 miles who would take on the task to rehabilitate it. I called Darryl at Estates Chimney who was actually interested in the challenge of the job despite the distance to our house. He looked at the video shot by other contractors then came out with foreman Andy and spent an hour assessing the firebox and the limitations of the smoke chamber size and shape and explained the best options to us. They had to remove the old liners, reshape the smoke chamber, then pour Supaflue liner material to resurface the flues. It took several days and great persistence to wrestle out the liners and complete the rest of the work. Andy, Paul and Mike were great to work with and did an amazing job! From our first fire in the rehabilitated fireplace everything has worked beautifully. After so many unsatisfactory attempts to fix the fireplace in the past we had this fantastic experience with Estates Chimney. We are totally pleased! read more

The owner spent time with me personally and answered any question I could come up with and found ways to keep my cost down. He shared the pros and cons of every stove I looked at and offered his personal experience with what he uses in his own home. Jeramie and Kyle did an amazing job installing the stove. They provided protective blankets over my floors where they were working and had it installed quickly and professionally. They even endured me sitting and observing the whole time and kept up a nice conversation. I asked them to make one adjustment after it was installed and they had it done quickly without any hint of complaint. Fly-by-night thugs!!! Hired them for a chimney cleaning in October 2016. They sent an unqualified technician to my house who cause $18,000. worth of damage. They refused to be responsible so I took them to small claims court and won! They appealed it and made me hire a lawyer. This has been in the court system for over a year. I have to pursue it so I can pay the cleaning service and dry cleaner for all of the damage they caused. They claim to be CSIA certified but they are not and have been warned several times by CSIA to stop using their logo. Save yourself the heartache and hire someone else. UPDATE: The extensive damage to my home, along with my subsequent complaint to CSIA, caused Estates Chimney to retrain and complete additional continue education as well as forcing them into certifying all of their technicians. Suddenly now they have 8 certified techs! When I hired them they had 1, needless to say he was not the technician sent to my house. Suddenly they're the pinnacle of professionalism. I purchased a forclosed home that previously had a wood stove there was nothing left but the chimney piping behind the wall-as the stove iitself and exterior piping were removed. I contacted Estates Chimney , they helped me find the appropriate stove for my home. They put forth a lot of time and effort in assisting me through the process of selection, purchase and installation. Thier patience and kindness as they explained the nuances of owning and maintaining a stove was refeshing and well recieved. Thank you to Estates Chimney and Fireplaces in Chalfont! We were looking for either a gas log or insert to install in an old wood-burning fireplace. Michael gave us all the information we needed with no pressure to buy, came out and measured for dimensions and helped us determine the best option for us. He even found us someone to replace our old hearth prior to the insert installation! The installers were out promptly and left my living room cleaner than when they arrived (for all the drilling they had to do to run the gas line into our firebox, there was no dust on anything!). I have been dealing with Estates for over a decade and can recommend them without reservation. Besides annual cleaning they installed a wood burning insert in 2010, and have since installed a chimney cover and sealed the chimney crown. We're now in the process of selling the house and needed a last minute chimney condition report to satisfy the buyer's requirement. In spite of the holidays, bad weather, and a busy schedule due to sudden demand for wood stoves and inserts, Darryl Hughes responded to our urgent request and personally conducted the inspection. I just had Estates chimney come out to my house and install a fireplace insert (Regency HI405). I chose Estates on the recommendation of a friend, and I'm glad I did. The salesperson was very informative knowledgeable and friendly. He did not pressure us at all to make a decision. When we finally did, installation was scheduled less then a week out. The installers were extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. They taught us everything we need to know to operate our new fireplace. A few years ago we had our chimney cleaned (after burning wood for years), and we were told then it was unsafe to burn wood until multiple repairs were performed. It was to high of a cost so we just did not use it for like 3 years. Well now our problem is solved. Estates Chimney came to our house , and did the repairs. Someone came to the house to see if we could use the current base and decided we needed only stone work done. We also used Nick for fence post removal and he was responsive and priced reasonable. The team quickly removed the unnecessary cinder blocks and elevated the base for the stone (important to us since we need drainage). They even put grass seed down and cleaned up the yard. The shed itself was easy for delivery (we didn't have to be home). It looks great in the yard and is very well made! We are happy with the purchase and are thankful the team did a great job with install.

They tore out our old, oversized fireplace and built us a beautiful new electric fireplace with a gorgeous mantel and tile surround. When Ryan saw that I was an artist, he suggested we work with an interior designer to make the room into a gallery for my work. Nick and Phil are also gifted carpenters and were able to carry out the vision of the designer to make a stunning new room for us. They really cared about the details and transformed the room into a beautiful new living space for us. To top it off, Ryan, Nick and Phil were all just genuinely nice people.
