(even Tsa recognizes this as Id for flights) - - - So beware: if you want to purchase alcohol, bring your physical Id card, or you won't be getting beer from the alcohol nazis. ~ Some things that are better than back in the day : - cleaner : the venue overall is cleaner that most large venues back in the day. - food: believe it or not , some large venues didn't even offer food. - sound: acoustic technology improvements of course. I was in Section 306, Seat 20 (next to the stairs). While I was in a far section, I still had a pretty good straight on view of the stage. The screens were large and high quality. They mostly used the screens behind the stage, and less of the side screens. It was still too far to see the band on stage, but the screens were still good. I was thinking someone could bring binoculars if they really wanted to see the stage from this section, lol! But I still enjoyed this high-level view, being able to see all the screens and laser effects and such. They even had fireworks at the end, which I've never seen at this venue but it was awesome! Audio was great, but also loud, so maybe recommend getting ear protection even for the far sections. Overall, I think most seats in Petco Park have a great view. For concerts, I do wish they had more merch booths and I wish there was a map of the locations. I waited an hour for merch, and was cutting it close to the concert start time. You really have to go early to have enough time for merch, drinks/food, and getting to your seats. We got to the stadium around 7pm, merch line 7:25-8:20 (multi-tasked going to restroom & buying drinks while partner waited in line), got to seats 8:30ish, set started at 8:45. Getting out was also difficult and crowded. I saw some people leave early to avoid the rush. I was stuck in peak rush. The first trolley out was packed like sardines. Just a warning!

The Not-So-Good: * Concession Lines: Between sessions, the lines for food and beer were brutal. If you don't time your run perfectly, you're going to miss the start of the next tip-off. * Cashless Only: The whole place is cashless now. Great for speed, but a pain if you didn't come prepared. * Parking: It's SDSU, so parking is always a headache. If you didn't rideshare, you probably spent 20 minutes circling the structures. Regardless, it is generally a great place to catch a show. Through the years, I have seen many great shows here including Flogging Molly, The Shins, Prince, Interpol, and many others. I hadn't been in a couple years, but last week my husband and I went to see The Human Leave, Soft Cell, and Alison Moyet (Yaz). It was an incredible show. Starting out, there are a few things that I dislike about the venue. First, because it is on a college campus, parking can be difficult and you are basically forced into the $30 paid parking garage. Also, I was suffering from a recent sports injury, making the trek across campus to the theater a bit of a task. In the past, the lines for swag and drinks have been nearly impossible, though, this time, they were much improved. Finally, the trek to the ladies' room is a bit far depending on your seat. Also, it is not a large restroom and the line goes slowly, However, it is clean. On the flip side, there are a lot of positive points to this venue. The location is generally decent as it is not far from town. Despite the crowds coming in for shows, it doesn't take too long to get in and out of the parking lots. The event staff consists of many college students working concessions or ushering, and they are very friendly. It is really a nice, open, outdoor, relaxing venue. There is not a bad seat in the house (as many other reviews state). I have been in front, in back, and in the middle. I have been able to see and hear the show very well from each of my seats. It has also been my experience that the crowd has been generally a well-behaved, polite group, though I guess you can't alway count on that. All in all, it is a great place to catch a show, especially during the beautiful San Diego summer months.

We were so disgusted that we decided to leave our seats and go to the back in hopes of avoiding them, but they were literally everywhere and people were stepping on them too. So gross.... Aside from the unwanted visitors, the venue itself was pretty cool! It's an outdoor amphitheater with not a single bad seat in the house.
