Essentials is a beautiful spa and salon. I get my haircut there every few months, Carol does an amazing job and cuts it exactly the way I ask. The spa is phenomenal. The ultimate unwinder is my personal favorite thing to get. Their waiting area is so posh and relaxing. They have chai tea to make fresh and treats sitting out to enjoy. I received a phone call from the receptionist they needed to reschedule my appointment as the hairstylist is unavailable, not a big deal although it has happened before due to limited staffing an issues with air conditioning . Appointments can be hard to come by, that is why I book my MONTHLY appointments 3 to 4 months in advance. While speaking with receptionist explaining needing an afternoon appointment as I work during the day, all she kept offering was morning appointments I explained THREE different times. I need an afternoon appointment and would even see whoever they had part time , as I have my daughter, senior high school graduation coming up the end of the month . She kept offering me morning appointments and early afternoon appointments. SHE WAS NOT LISTENING!! It was very frustrating today, 5/7/24- needless to say after almost 2 years of going, EVERY MONTH, I will be looking for another place that is reliable.. This coming Monday will be three weeks I've been trying to resolve an issue with my monthly membership. The last time I was able to speak with anyone (Emily S.) was June 2nd to go over my missing rollover services and emailed proof the funds were deducted from my checking account. I've since called having to leave Emily messages for Emily, emailed, and personally stopped in, but she's never in. I've been coming to Essentials for almost ten years and have done nothing but praise This spa. From all my services to the products I have purchased has brought me joy. But, when I now have an issue with services that's owed to me and not showing...Essentials goes silent. Not even a return call for any type of update. Had a 1pm appointment today, called to inform the spa we were running 15 min late and the lady over the phone said okay no problem. when we arrive they claim that they were only allowed to accept 5-10 min. now we drive 30 min away for no reason and 10 min of the time we spent talking to someone that couldn't do something as simple as bring the manager and waste more time. also we watched the masseuse walk out of the spa while we were there. Making it look like he wasn't interested in taking care of us today regardless. made us feel really uncomfortable and would not recommend because of lack of communication and understanding. read more

I had an excellent spa experience. You can come up to an hour before and sit in the sauna or steam room. They offer beverages and snacks for free. You may get champagne or Mimosa's for a charge. Had a fantastic deep tissue with partial hot stone massage. As well as their signature facial. They were professional. It was extremely clean. They were very knowledgeable about what they do. They offer meditation classes. They also offer Medispa products and services. They offer memberships that are very reasonable. Excellent place. I enjoyed myself thoroughly. read more

I tried going here for a while and always had my hair appointments canceled. If you are going to threaten clients to charge cancellation fees then it should go both ways! At least make an effort to reschedule clients instead of calling a few hours before with a lame "sorry, you'll have to wait a month to get another appointment booked". I received a gift card for Christmas for a massage and facial. With it was a 15% off coupon for use at Essentials. Due to COVID I just went Saturday June 13,2020 for a 9:00 appt. As was posted on my on my email reminder to arrive 30 minutes prior to have a stress free check in with plenty of time to prepare for my treatments, I arrived to find the door locked--posted on the door was the opening hour of 9:00. Why have a customer come 30 minutes earlier when the business does not open til 9:00. Why would you make 9:00 appts? Also they were no longer honoring the coupon which expired March 30 during COVID closure. My massage by Dennis was excellent and the facial by Desiree was wonderful, but the these business practices are questionable. December 2018 I was told that my wedding party and I were on the calendar for hair and makeup for my wedding in February 2020. I called recently to ask how much money they needed for a deposit and they apologized, but they booked a whole different wedding party the same day and could no longer take us. There was nothing they were willing to do for me. Good thing I called to ask, otherwise Essentials Salon and Spa would have RUINED my wedding day. I will never come here again. I started seeing Cori for my nail services. She's absolutely wonderful. And my nails have grown so much since seeing her, I also love the fact my nail color doesn't chip. I also only get my nails done monthly and they last the entire time! I'm not rushed out or made to feel like a number. They take their time and everything is clean and disinfected. That's my biggest problem about the quick Asian places. You never see them truly clean the bowls, and they nickel and dime you for everything so I was paying over 100 for mani and pedi services there. I pay less here for my mani- gel and the highest upgraded pedi. I'm offered tea, water, and a lot of my pedicures comes with a special drink of the month! I signed up for the membership due to Cori! I can't wait to add on massages with Mike. The membership also offers a spouse add on for free. So when my husband needs a massage he can take mine free of charge! 2 bad experience! Made an appt with a particular Esthetician Over a month in advance because they are always booked up. Got there and they switched me out with some one else. After complaining offered be a "discount" of about 10%. After much discussion they finally said 50% off. Made another appt got the person I wanted (yay). Maid my follow up appt for about 2 months later. Got there today and said "sorry you don't have an appt" we switched over to a new system. But we can get you in with SOMEONE ELSE hours later and offer a "discount". Are you freaking kidding me?! I said my friend on the way we were having a spa day. "Well you welcome to hang out in facility while she having her services" oh yeah, that sounds like fun. Let me lounge around why she gets pampered!! Terrible customer service! This review is for the Salon at Essentials, and the customer service that I received during my two recent visits. For background, I have used this spa at least semi-annually for the last four years for facials, massages and hair removal. The spa services are excellent, which is why I decided to indulge the salon. I booked a balayage, and brought a photo of the brown with subtle caramel balayage I wanted. The stylist seemed to understand perfectly. She began to foil my hair and I noticed she was putting the blonde mix on my hair up to the root all over. I didn't say anything because I wanted to believe she knew what she was doing. Sure enough after she washed and dried my hair it became apparent that instead of the balayage I was charged $190 for I got thick, bright highlights all the way to my scalp. I felt uncomfortable expressing this to her because there was a captive audience of three or four people right beside me in the waiting area so I politely thanked her, tipped $20 at the register and left. I called a few hours later to schedule a re-do with another stylist, and the receptionist who answered the phone was extremely rude with me. I had to explain why I didn't like the highlights, and after explaining (far more than I had to) that I'm in the military and I can't have these giant highlights in my hair, and not to mention I paid nearly $200 for a balayage I didn't get, the receptionist snapped back at me "I KNOW what a balayage is". I was then put on hold so she could ask someone if they were allowed to give me a redo. After ten minutes on hold I was told that she would take my phone number and call me back. Several hours later I received a phone call with an appointment time (they gave me one option, without regard to my personal schedule and gave me a hard time about trying to work around my schedule). I was then told that because of the time I needed, I wouldn't have time for a full balayage and that one stylist would start my hair and another would finish it. So I went in for my redo session and to make a very long story short, I was told the only way my balayage could be fixed was to cover the top of my head in dark brown and so I would basically have the same bright blonde highlights, just lower on my head. For the sake of my sanity and time, I just told her to give me a chocolatey brown all over. My hair is now black. I PAID $200 for a head of black hair. I asked for a refund *of the cost difference between a color and a balayage* $100!! I had to argue with the receptionist for no less than 20 minutes at the front desk, when all I had asked for WAS THE COST DIFFERENCE between what I asked for and the monstrosity that is now on my head. I was told "the redo session is the refund because they cover the $60". I expressed that what I got was nowhere close to what I asked for, and that only asking for the difference was more than reasonable. After reaching a stopping point where the rude young receptionist would only tell me no, I asked for whoever was in charge. Another 15 minutes later I was met by an apologetic woman, who would only offer me a store credit instead of a refund. I explained that I am in the military and will be overseas for six months, and won't be returning to the salon. Still, I was only offered a store credit and told that "it will never expire". I gave up and left, with my slip of receipt paper that although will "never expire", it will surely deteriorate before I ever return to this salon. I'm saddened to part ways with this business, because it was a convenient place to get a massage, facial and other services two to three times a year when I can come home on leave from the military. I have nothing bad to say the service they provide. However, every year I would get my wife a gift of twelve months of massages. About $850.00. They have stopped doing this, which I have no problem with. My wife has had 3 massages this year (2020, yeah I know) but they have done an "audit" and determined that my wife has zero more messages. Not only have they ripped off my money but they have caused tremendous stress for my wife. I paid them for one year in advance at Christmas, 3 visits later, two in June and one in August. I went for a salon service on May 27th. When making the appointment by phone earlier in the month I was assured that the salon was following CDC guidance and reopening regulations including masks worn by all staff and service people as well as social distancing between service stations and clients. NONE of those things were evident at the time that I arrived for my appointment. I was told at that time that no salon requirements regarding COVID were in place. What a bunch of nonsense! I did not stay for my appointment and was able to secure service from another salon that WAS following the guidelines and regulations. I followed up my appointment with an email with concerns and NEVER received a response! I guess a 6 year client does not deserve the courtesy of a return reply. Shame on you Essentials!! read more

I found this spa using Yelp about a month ago when I was traveling from Daytona to Ft. Pierce. It's about a 5 minute drive from I-95 and well worth the hour drive from Daytona! I got a lip and brazilian wax. I think it ended up being $65, but don't quote me on that. My attendant's name was Sima. She was soo great! She knew a lot about in-grown hairs and waxing. The entire place was very clean and classy. I felt very safe getting a brazilian at this spa. The process was quick, yet she spent time afterwards making sure she didn't miss anything. I arrived about 15 minutes early and was able to relax in their dark room and listen to music and drink tea. I think I spent a total of an hour there from waiting to check out. Wow, this place was a lifesaver! For all of you who are having weddings in Melbourne Beach, you know how limited of a selection there is for salon services! Perfect spot for the bridal party to come and get pampered in a soothing and relaxing environment. We came and got mani/pedi's before the wedding day. We also got massages and they were all fantastic!! Then we came on the wedding day to get blow outs. I was a little nervous because our entire bridal party was Asian American and our hair is a bit more difficult to work with. Unfortunately, all of our blow outs looked like we just washed & blow dried it ourselves. Only mine came out great but my hair tends to be easy to work with. I can't really blame them, they're in Melbourne Beach -- not L.A. or New York. The most important thing is that they are all super sweet, professional and do a very thorough job on their services. One weird thing is that the bride got a mani/pedi, and it lasted TWO HOURS! Holy cow, it really made us late for rehearsal because we didn't realize that she was still getting her nails done!! The manicurist was taking her sweet time doing everything super slowly and was very, very interested in our conversations. (Like, she was staring at US the entire time instead of what she was doing.) It was a bit weird, but of course didn't really bother us. But maybe it could have made her go faster?!?!? In my head, I guess taking a long time pampering is way better than rushing a service. They were able to squeeze in all of our services very last minute and they were super nice to us! Also, they have AMAZING chai tea!!!!!!!! One guy that worked there saw that we were going crazy over the chai tea so he told us that there was a CHOCOLATE chai tea and asked if we wanted some, and we said "YES!" I had never had a massage before and was given a gift certificate as a present. I was extremely nervous and my technician Stephanie was comforting and really sweet. The massage went well and the front staff was really nice. My only complaint is that there are signs everywhere strictly prohibiting the use of cell phones and when I went to the tranquility room there was a lady on hers and at least four staff members walked through and did not say anything to her. While it isn't hurting me that she had her cell phone out I would have really liked to have mine because I was just that nervous and sitting there felt like an anxious eternity! Had a horrible experience this past Saturday. I had called and made an appointment for a couples massage for me and my new bride. Having been there before, we even requested specific technitions. We received confirmation emails and confirmed our appointment via their email system. After driving 30 minutes to get there, we were told they had no reservation for us and no one was available. They mentioned that they had given away the reservation to the "Martins". We asked to see the manager but the manager didn't even have the courtesy to come talk to us but rather sent out one of the "minions" with a $20 off coupon. After visiting Essentials many times over the years and different locations, I was thoroughly disappointed with my last 2 visits. My friends and I expected a relaxing day after the busy holidays except it was not a pleasant experience. To begin, the sauna and steam room were not prepared nor working correctly, we were never asked if we would like our complimentary drinks plus we had to go ask both times, beauty supplies such as make up wipes were unavailable, snacks were low in the relaxation room, dirty dishes were left in various places for over an hour in the relaxation room and the final straw was my massage starting 15 minutes later than my friends. By the time I finished, we barely had time to shower then leave as they abruptly closed the doors behind us. We are looking into a different spa experience before we try Essentials again. Very disappointing because Essentials has always been our spa preference. read more

Well this experience is truly one for the books! Worst experience at a spa ever. I can see why there are so many negative reviews, and I will be adding mine to the list. I agree with others - the young girl at the front desk is rude, snobby and so ignorant it's hard to believe. I called previously to ask about thread lifts - I specifically inquired who performed the procedure - and whether they were a physician. She did not know what a physician was! she told me "Brian" performs them. So I asked - what is "Brian" - she couldn't tell me. Then she told me he was a doctor, then she inquired with other staff and told me he was a nurse. When I came in for my appt., she had terrible customer service - no greeting, just handed me a piece of paper. I was given the wrong consent form - for a WRONG procedure. Anyone who works in any type of healthcare environment, cosmetic included, knows that wrong INFORMED CONSENT = malpractice. When I pointed this out to the woman who went to get me from the seating area, she blew me off and looked at me with deer in the headlights type of look. Does this person who not know something this basic? She told me "oh it's standard." There is no such thing as "standard" consent forms. Really? The whole purpose of a consent form is to provide INFORMED CONSENT for a specific procedure so that an individual knows what the potential RISKS are!!!!! If I go to the hospital for a hip surgery and I get a kidney transplant, it's "standard"? Do these people not have basic medical knowledge about what the ENTIRE purpose of a consent form is? "Brian" Whaley was a complete and utter atrocity. He kept trying to sell me fillers, which I told him several times that I was not interested in. I told him specifically I was there for a consult for thread lifts. He asked me what I knew about the procedure - clearly it is his responsibility for HIM to inform me about the procedure. As someone coming in for a consultation why on earth would he continue harassing me to tell him what I knew? After he condecendingly started to try to explain facial anatomy and why "facial volume is lost" and why I needed fillers vs. thread lifts (which he explained neither of the procedures, risks vs. benefits, procedural performance, etc ) I went on to tell him that I was a physician, to avoid him any further embarrassment. I believe he clearly he started feeling insecure and instead of simply going over the procedure, answering questions, and acting professionally, he continued in the same way insisting on something that I DID NOT WANT. I continued telling him I just wanted information about the thread lift procedure, not fillers. Instead of him simply answering the questions, which is the whole purpose of a consultation, he went to tell the clueless girl next to him that I was "done" and that he felt "resistance" from me - really? me asking actual questions about the procedure that I came in to get information about, vs. a procedure that I have no interest in, is being "resistant"? If anything he was forceful and unprofessional - I have every right to ask all the questions that I feel are necessary. Don't know if this person is just not knowledgeable about the procedure or what his deal was. He became aggressive, essentially told me the consult was done - rather than dealing with things in a professional manner (which is part of basic competency in the medical field) and ensure that I had no questions, and then I asked him for the medical director's contact information. There is a reason why medical spas and nurses in particular need top have a medical director - and this is a clear example of why. Instead of him being professional and providing me with Dr. Lesser's information as he legally needs to, he went to tell me "find it yourself on the website" - really? And further he went on to call me an "aggressive physician" - I am aggressive because I point out that they are committing malpractice by giving me the wrong consent form, by telling him I am interested in one procedure vs. a different one that I did not go to this atrocious spa for, and by asking for the MEDICAL DIRECTOR'S contact info - completely unprofessional. When I told him that I would be filling a complaint, he went on to tell me, in an aggressive way, that "he had a witness" Wow. I went to ask the front desk staff girl who is completely clueless for the medical director's information, and she did not know what a medical director is - is this place for real? I filed a complaint, by writing to the email of this spa, to be addressed with Dr. Lesser. If not addressed I will inevitably be needing to file a formal complaint with the appropriate boards. It is hard to believe that this Brian Whaly guy could behave like this. I can see why there are so many complaints, and why there was only a few people at the spa. Never again. I will be going to a physician who actually is able to provide me with the right information about the right procedure. read more

A couple of updates for folks ... (1) Lockers no longer have keys, you set your own pin to lock and unlock (love it!) (2) Rosie and Christine-the-esthetician have moved on but (3) many very good technicians and providers are available to provide great service. I haven't ever had a bad massage and with Rosie gone, just have to be sure to look for extra strays myself before leaving the treatment room. One comment about the reviewer bothered about cell phone use (and wishing she had hers). A few months ago, I asked two ladies in street clothes gabbing over free coffee to lower their voices. One was very unpleasant until she returned from examining one of the signs (which she hadn't even noticed) and apologized ... There seem to be a fair number of people who don't notice signs (unless they're lost and then they're already crabby) so if you want someone to pipe down or get off the phone and aren't comfortable making a gentle suggestion yourself, PLEASE go to the front desk and ask one of the folks there to take care of it. read more

This spa was very deceptive with the payment process. When I made my appt. I told them I was using a gift card for the services, but had to give a credit card to reserve the appt. When I was finished with my $95.00 facial I was told that my gift card was expired! There was NO expiration date on the card and they said there was nothing they could do about it! They even talked to the owner who would not come out and talk to me or honor their own gift card with their logo on it. Just kept on insisting the card was expired and they could do nothing for me. I was given the gift card at Christmas as a gift from a girlfriend. How is anyone to know if the gift cards they are receiving will be good for services or not???? I guess the owner is the only one who knows!!!!!! I guess Essentials Spa cares more about $$$ than the customer experience. No expiration date on gift cards is even on the receipt! Ha ha! read more
