So I was taking my old dog here for many years & always had a great experience, but after he passed away we rescued 2 new dogs & their price went up plus it seemed like the wait time kept getting longer & longer even though I was always being told that my dogs were easy to groom. I ended up trying some cheaper groomers but went back since I wasn't very pleased with the groom they were getting. Long story short, I messed up on one appt in all the years I was going there & forgot about an appt., however I called to apologize right as the appt was to start, I called back & offered to pay something for her time at least & I never got a call back. Then when I stopped by & asked the owner to have the groomer call me so I could get back in with her, but she never called me, I called twice more & left messages to at least call me back & tell me what the problem was, I have never received a return call. I am done! I will never set foot in that store again, not even to buy pet food which I also did on a regular basis. Robin is a good groomer but the attittudes are terrible. Not returning calls just because you were upset about one missed appt is very poor business! I have found a fantastic groomer where my dogs are cage free & are not there for 4 -5 hours & the price is better too. So sad. I used to like this place. read more

Katie groomed our Lakeland Terrier Mac. She did an amazing job. He is 13.5 years old and can get a little tired. Our vet recommend we take him to Essential Pet. I am so glad. I believe this is the best cut he has ever had. It still looks good after more than a month. We will definitely take him back. read more

Normally Essential Pet is my go-to for my cat's food needs. They have a wide selection of food for both cats and dogs and prices lower than the competition (from what I've found). But as of recently I'm not sure I will be back. I'm a repeat customer who buys canned food by the case and I also receive personal orders. Recently they were out of my cat's food a couple weeks in a row and I was told they could order it for me. I ordered it, was told it would be in the following Wednesday. I come in Wednesday, they say it didn't come in and will be in Thursday. I come in Thursday, they say it didn't come in and will be in next Wednesday. I come in next Wednesday, they say it will be there the following Wednesday. Instead of obviously wasting my time stopping in there, I call this time to see if they received my order. They tell me the vendor is out and I'm repeatedly told that this is "out of their control". I definitely understand this is out of their control, but a simple courtesy call to a repeat customer would be appreciated. I waited weeks and was led to believe my food would eventually come in when I could've obviously taken my business elsewhere if I was simply told they couldn't get my food in the first place instead of leading me on. No apologies, and the service I received was very rude. Staff at Essential Pet has never been the friendliest, and now sadly there's no reason for me to go return. read more

A waited 7 days to get my appt. for my dog on a Friday and I was on my way there and make a courtesy call that I was running 10 minutes behind, and will be there shortly. Receptionist told me that Katie wouldn't be able to take her today and can take her a week from now. First off, I've already waited 7 days I said for 10 minutes? Really? Receptionist was rude and I don't know why they keep her since she is the first person a customer deals with and she could be more professional. I will never return there again. read more

A few of things. 1. I took my dog for a bath there and I was very disappointed with the service. It looked like they didn't really brush or comb him. (I've seen what he looks like all fluffed out and combed) and that wasn't it. And it was $55! And he didn't smell like shampoo or anything. Did they even wash him?? Definitely not worth the price. And 2. Their nail trim person is literally never there. I called three separate days over there weeks and all three times the person wasn't there or has already left for the day. I asked if they have a schedule or something to know when the service is available, the person on the phone said "everyday- oh but sometimes not Tuesdays and some other weeks not Wednesdays, and most days generally not after 3". What?! 3. When I was there last time the person at the counter was so rude. I was standing at the front, waited a while (5+ minutes) for someone to come out and in that time two other people came in and when the person came back to the counter they looked past me standing in front of them to help the other two people. (I would have understood if they had dogs waiting or some other time constraint but she didn't even ask or communicate anything.) I won't be back, but do know they have loyal customers?! Maybe you need to do something to get an "in" with them?? Who knows. read more

This spot gets 5 stars because they did everything right! They got my Roux in timely, took amazing care of him, called me right away to pick him up, and most of all, paid attention to details....my pup has long eyelashes and groomers in the past have just cut them short during a hair cut....when I picked up Roux, the groomer came out and said, i just couldn't cut those lashes!! Shame on me for not telling her to leave them, but what a nice gesture for her to notice and keep them long. My pup was well cared for and got a great grooming. Very happy to have found this place. read more

Long time customer who will not be returning after today. Made a 9am appointment (after telling them I could not make a noon appointment). Dropped off the dog at 9am and was told see you in a few hours. Typically grooming takes around two hours here based on past experience. I called at 11:30am to check on timing and was told that our dog had been bathed but not cut and that they were running behind. Expect at least another hour. I could not wait that long so I went in to pick up my dog. They were so rude. Wanted me to pay $50 because they had already bathed her. $50 for a bath!!! I told them that I would not pay for a bath due to their time delay. They insisted on me paying and asked what I expected. I said what I expected is for them to allow me to make another appointment later in the week to bring her back since I could not wait any longer and not charge me for the bath. They said that doesn't make any sense. They offered to charge half for the bath (still $25) and I agreed cause essentially they would not give me my dog. I paid and left, will not be back. Absolutely no empathy given for them "running behind" and just plain rude. The cashiers teenage daughter sat to the side and rolled her eyes at me the entire time we were having a conversation. Completely unprofessional. read more

I took my two dogs in (mini golden doodle and shitzu/Maltese mix) and they both came back with the best trim they ever had. The groomer paid close attention to my instructions and used good judgement when I described the look I wanted. They were there only three hours which I appreciate since my dogs are anxious away from home. The fee is competitive with other groomers I've used. read more

I have a hard time finding rats for my boa, Samantha, but this store is the best!! They recently moved over to Cottonwood drive though, next to the DMV. The store is so nice and clean!! I've taken my dog in for a self-wash bath three times here. On the last bath, I really appreciated the staff's help to bribe Bruno into the tub. The separate room set up is GREAT. For one person, bathing a Husky is a heck of a task and having our own little room makes it so much easier. A couple of suggestions: having something on the floor so it's not so slippery when they get out of the tup and their paws are wet would be good. Also, being able to tie the dog on both sides so they can't turn around would be helpful, too. read more

I had an hour to spare this afternoon and decided to drive out of my way to Essential Pet just to save on guinea pig food. They carry Oxbow brand, one of the highest quality cavy foods on the market, and the prices are unbelievable. Why should I pay $14 for a 5lbs bag at Petsmart when I can purchase the 10lb bag at Essential Pet for $21 AND support a local business? I shouldn't! I should shop at Essential Pet, and my reward for the day was a 25lb bag of Roudybush pellets (for my parrots) for $55. I think the last place I found a 10lb bag charged $75!!! Holy bananas!! My visit today was totally worth the drive. Oh, and they helped me to the car with my giant bags of food - that can't go unnoticed! Thanks Essential Pet! read more

This place has all the things I need for my dogs! I used to drive to Lowry to grab "Taste of the Wild" food so when Essential Pet opened it's doors, I was happy to give them my hard earned money! The reason they get 5-stars is because it was a shock to find their prices are competitive with chain pet stores (I normally expect to pay the price for Mom and Pop service). We have been very impressed with the employees of both Essential Pet supply and Aluka, who grooms our Shih Tzu. Their employees are real pet lovers and are very knowledgeable on animals. We started taking our dog to Aluka after a couple bad experiences with PetSmart grooming and would never look back. Essential Pet is a great pet store! They don't have any unnatural food like Purina or Milkbone. I was introduced to Taste of the Wild by a knowledgable employee, which my dog loves. I also obtained some digestion powder which I add to my dogs food, which seems to be made of different dried mushrooms. Essential Pet also has a grooming section of the store on the other side of the DMV in that strip mall. It's worth checking out, because if you love your pet, you won't feet it fake, weird, processed food. read more

This place was great! My pup was long over due for a wash and cut and came home looking like a million bucks. They did exactly what I asked for on the cut and did a great job with the teethbrushing. This is a really small pet store with a great variety of toys, treats and food. I went in and asked for a good substitute for my blue buffalo dog food as it did not sit well for my dogs stomach. The associate who helped me was very helpful, recommended the food she feeds her dogs and just one day later I notice a difference in his digestion. Used their self wash facilities today and we were very impressed with how clean, bright and large the area was. We needed the extra large room to accommodate our Great Dane mix who weighs 100lbs. I called to inquire about appointments and was told they do not take them for self-wash but if I gave her a time she would hold the extra large room for me. It worked out perfect. We brought our other dog and bathed them both in same room. Out the door at $30 not too bad at all. Staff was super friendly and the place was super clean. I will for sure be using them again. Store also seemed to carry every high end dog food available today. Not going to find Alpo here only the good stuff but prices were very competitive. A++ read more

Beware of the dishonest groomer! We brought our dog in for a partial hair cut on 2/17/16. We asked that they only trim his underside and his back side in addition to clipping his nails. We asked specifically that they do not cut any hair from his tail. (If you saw this tail, you'd understand why) After getting him home I noticed that his tail seemed shorter. I waited two days for his coat to 'settle down' since after a shampoo it tends to be very fluffy. When I brushed him today I realized that his tail had definitely been trimmed...quite a bit. What part of "do not cut any hair from his tail" could they not understand? This dog's tail has grown uncut for all 10 of his years and it was nearly touching the floor when he held his tail upright. Now, it is clearly 3 or more inches shorter. I brought him back into the shop to explain that I was very unhappy. The groomer flat denied cutting any hair on the tail. Well, I guess one of the other visiting dogs can handle a pair of scissors! It's a miracle! I realize that there are so many things more important in our lives than the length and look of a dog's tail but the point here is about customer satisfaction. (not to mention honesty) The groomer looked me in the eye and said she did not trim the tail. Bullsh-t. Where once there was a sweet dog with a spectacular tail there now is a sweet dog with a less than spectacular tail. Earth shattering? No. Disappointing? Very. We will never bring an animal to their shop ever again and I will tell this story to anyone willing to learn about this shop's practices. A simple "sorry, I made a mistake" would have resulted in an entirely different review here. Shame on them. REVIEW FOLLOW UP: The owner of the shop has engaged in an email dialog with me since I posted the above review, offering an apology and a full refund. I accept her apology but I won't take the refund since the nail trim and other trim the groomer did was fine and they deserve to be paid for that. I appreciate the tough spot she's in trying to please an unhappy customer and also stand by her employee. The tail trimming remains a mystery......or a miracle......but it's now time to move on. read more

They are awesome here! I can always count on them to make Mojo look nice and clean! He loves their snacks too, blueberry cookies! They are very accomodating to your schedule as well and I usually can get him in the same week when I call. The price is the best part so much cheaper than like Petsmart whom I use to take Mojo to. They have nice brands but way over priced. Staff was extremely unfriendly. The self-wash was dirty, there was a hair comb and brush... No furminator or anything useful for husky hair. I'm surprised it's been open for so long.. I would definitely not recommend this place for anyone who is trying to spoil their pet. read more

We took our dog to Essential Pet for the first time and had a underwhelming experience. Not only did it take over 4 hours, when they called - we only had 30 minutes to pick up our pup. This normally wouldn't be a problem if we were alerted prior to service, but no one said this was their policy. We luckily live up the street and were able to have our in laws grab her. Definitely not a convenient place for most people with a job. We love supporting local business, but it's hard when they make your first experience a bad one. read more

I have 2 skiddish toy poodles and when I pick them up they don't act scared and they look great. I used to get when I dropped them off at places they would look at me like I didn't take good care of my dogs because I let their fur grow out and because they are swimming dogs yes they do get matted. The groomers are basically wizards. You give them a scruffy, high energy mess and a few short minutes later (really they are super efficient for being so careful) you get out a beautiful pup. Our Dog freaks out if we try to clip her nails, but the groomers here are so fast and calming I don't think she realizes what is going on and has no time to react, it is amazing. Also, the food selection here is much better than at king soopers and at a better price. They even have a frequent buyer program for some big brands like Blue Buffalo. You should really go here for pet supplies in Parker, plus everyone is really friendly and there is a liquor store next door. It is a win-win. read more

I order most of my dog stuff online, such as food, treats and toys. But, the handful of times I've stopped in to look around have been positive. I always buy something, such as Zukes treats, Cloud Star buddy biscuits, elk antler chews, or TOTW canned food. I miss the sweet bird that used to be behind the counter. What a cutie!! Yesterday, I took my 12 yr old senior Lab for the self wash at the spa, on the other side of the DMV. I was given everything I needed and the staff was friendly. It was $10 to cut nails on top of $16 for self wash. Not bad, but I may stick to mobile dog grooming as it's the easiest thing to just have someone come to the house. Easier for my elder dog and me. :) read more

$40 for a basic clean up of a pom, very friendly staff. It's worth the extra money if your dog has anxieties about the groomers, but usually I just pay $28 at petco and pet smart. If they do a clean up be sure to let them know how close you want them shaved in certain areas I failed to ask them to shave very low near my dogs anal area now I'm stuck doing it myself. read more

Also, the first three times I called she stated that there was issues with the line-- I was calling on a landline. Went in a few weeks ago (for the first time) excited that there was a pet store so close to me and ready to put fish in my new tank. I walked in and was suprised how dirty it was and that the 2 teenage girls behind the register, on their mobile devices/texting were too busy to say a word to us. My kids were excited to look at fish so we went to the tanks to find 3-4 of them so cloudy you couldnt see anything, a bucket and a ladder blocking the isle and a dead fish in amother tank. There was dirt and birdseed all over the floor. I get its a pet store, but sweep a little, clean your tanks, remove dead fish and help your customers!!!!!!! My kids were as eager to leave as I was and agreed we would never go back there. The dog roaming the place was more hospitable than the employees! Wish i could give zero stars. Only a matter of time til' this place closes if they continue to run the way they are. read more

Worst experience at a groomer ever! No communication, my dog was completely shaven to nothing in January. Tried to say he was matted, no way what's so ever was my dog matted to this extreme as I took my dog to the groomer for heavy grooming 8 weeks prior then for bath and trim 4 weeks prior and I bathed and dry in between. Tried this groomer for con inane. Don't do it! My poor baby looks horrible! Who shaves a havaneese/Bichon? Especially in January?? Run away don't go here! read more

I moved to Parker last year and they are the only place that I have found that carries FROMM dog food. They've always had it in stock.

This store is just dirty. The teenaged staff is not very friendly, and they had quite a few dead fish while I was in. For dog food, I have seen much better stores such as wag and wash or samanthas katz and dogz. read more
