Because of your unprofessional receptionist Lisa, i will not return. Her attitude is absolutely horrible. I didn't have enough money and never realized that you charge $12 for a 10 minute massage so between extra massage feet and back I didnt have the extra $4. I certainly didnt want to not tip for services I received. I ended up given change of $4 and she continued to mock me and went as far as trying to embarrass myself but all she did was truly embarrassed your establishment and she should be ashamed of herself. Not the best person to have as the face of your nail salon. When I asked for her name. She said my name is lisa.. and yelled and said to the other customers my name is Lisa. I told her to keep embarrassing herself and she went on to say how I am an embarrassment... so with that said, I will never step foot into your establishment. I never write reviews but feel compelled to write one about this great nail salon. I have been to Essence Nails and Spa countless times since it's opening and both times they have done a great job. The staff is friendly and efficient and they have great prices. The salon itself is clean and large. I would highly recommend Essence Nails and Spa for all your nail needs. read more

I have tried every nail salon in Commack. They all usually start out OK and then go down hill or get too busy and the quality diminishes. Essence has not only exceeded my expectations, but they are consistent! The staff is friendly, actually remembers who you are, and the complimentary massage is amazing! The hand washing in the beginning is great! They do quality work, and really care about their customers. After picking a color that didn't look so nice on, Jay actually totally took it off (without me even asking or saying anything) and said she wasn't happy with the way it looked! I was there when the customer named Kimberly made an embarrassing scene because she didnt have enough money to pay. Dont get treatment if you can't pay it and then say you didnt know it was this expensive. The nail store did nothing wrong but give good service. Next time ask about the prices before hand. I have been going here for 2 years. The quality never changes. I'm always a walk-in and the owner always accommodates me. Never had to wait long. I've used all technicians and they are all good. The best part is the free 10 minute massage from Maria. She is amazing. Prices are reasonable for Commack and the place is always clean. I highly recommend Essence. read more

Great experience. I travel the country every week. I happened to be staying in one location for a few weeks, which is rare. I spied this nail salon during a previous trip and decided it looked clean & busy enough to try out. About 2pm on a busy Saturday afternoon, I dropped in just to see if they could fit me into their busy day. I expected to either be turned away or to wait a long while since I didn't have an appt. They were busy yet they took me right in and, even more important, they went to great lengths to make me feel at home. I waited maybe 5 minutes.. maybe. One of the better spa pedicures I've had anywhere in the country - better than most high end salons I've experienced and for much cheaper! I ended up getting a regular Manicure also and keratin treatments hands & feet. All for $70 plus tip. I'm headed back next weekend for another round! read more

I've been coming here for 5 mo's. I came from a salon that was "old", Essence was like a breath of fresh air. Shellac mani's-great, pedi's-awesome, the free massage (if your lucky to get it)-excellent. However this all got tainted when I was asked to give a larger tip. The owner tells to me that Im not tipping my girl enough. I was shocked! I asked around, found I was tipping a few dollars short. What nerve to say something. This is my go to nail salon when I'm back home in visiting my parents. I've never had any issues here. My appointments are always on time and the owner, Sam, is always super nice and remembers everyone by name. I've been coming here for years since around the time they started and it seems like service and decor improves every now and then. I did read a review somewhere below saying they don't sanitize their tools- which is not the case; there are autoclaves located all around the shop. Alway a pleasant experience. read more

if i could give 0 i would, i went in to get a gel removal, i asked the receptionist when i walked in how much it was going to be she said $10.. ok i sit down the woman was huffing and annoyed the minute she sat down and told me it was going to be $20 i said the woman at the front had said it was $10, the receptionist confirmed $10.. she begins to take off my polish with the wrong drill bit... proceeds to drill into my polish into my natural nail i quickly pulled my hand away cause it hurt and told her she hurt me ... anyway she continues to drill away and file like a mad woman the lady next to me even looked over like "what is this lady doing" ... fast forward i get to the counter and she goes ok $15 .... I decided to try this place out to find a nail salon where my girls and I can get our nails done for my wedding. I showed them a picture of a nail design I wanted (it was a pink/white ombre with some jewels) and asked if they could do it. They said they could and had the same jewels. My nails came out nothing like the picture and the "jewels" were totally different. The lady was really nice, but didn't do a good job. The ombre was splotchy and there were air bubbles. Definitely not worth the $50 they charged. I won't be coming back here. read more

Unfortunately I can not recommend this salon when they opened up the service was very good but since established the foot massage during the pedicure is gone and so is the hand massage. The owner has various girls work on you and expects you to remember each person and will embarrass you in front of everyone. Although you tipped very generously who you thought took care of she points out that you missed someone. read more

I went to this nail salon today for the first time and was very surprised not to see an Autoclave machine to clean their instruments. They have the clippers, etc. in sealed pouches but I watched one girl finish a client put them into a new pouch, seal it and then used it on the next client. I'm assuming there is no machine? Just left this place and I am furious with my experience. I get there and they immediately take me and soak my nails as I was getting a gel manicure. I am sitting there soaking for 20 minutes and am completely ignored. Finally I say something and they move me to another table where one of their technicians looks at my nails and says they need to soak more. She just leaves and goes on to do another clients pedicure. After 35 minutes of soaking I speak up and say this is ridiculous I have been soaking for 35 minutes and they move me again to another table where the lady finally files my nails down. She continues to proceed with the manicure doing an AWFUL job. She did not even cut my cuticles. Meanwhile all of the employees are so nice and tending to their regular customers. If you are not a regular here you will be treated like shit and completely ignored. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

Essence Nails and Spa is the best thing to happen to Commack since I have been living there. Everyone I spoke to there is attentive and informative about choices. The salon itself is beautful and spacious. I live within walking distance of this establishment, but I would travel a distance for the services they offer! Jay did my nails and Kim did my daughter's and we were both more than pleased. Do not miss the hot stone leg massage! I've been here a total of 4 times for manicure and pedicures. I recently got a gel manicure and 1 nail chip 3 days later. I returned and it was fixed with no charge which I was unsure of. Most places would charge although I didn't think they should. However, they treated me with excellent service I received a long back massage , hot towel on lower back hand and lotion massage to fix one finger and when I went to give the owner a tip. She refused and put it back in my bag. I was so pleased to see how the owner cares about her clients and not just about making money . The place is immaculate , friendly service and attentive. I have tried many nail salons from Commack, East Northport and Huntington Station and Essence nails is the best by far!!! From the first day that I walked in they treated me like a queen! It has been that way everytime I go there. I love the complimentary massage. Kim usually does my manicure and pedicure and they look amazing! She goes out of her way to make sure everything is done to my liking. The manager as well as all the other girls couldn't be nicer and more accomodating. So today I decided to go to try a new place NEVER again . I was greeted when I first walked in really nice . I told the lady what I wanted was a spa pedicure and gel manicure. I will start by saying that the pedicure lady was horrible she was extremely rough and she kept putting extremely hot towels on my feet/ legs every time she used one. Then the massage that came with the spa pedicure she was horrible kept telling her she was hurting me all she did was nod . Then the manicure she cut my cuticles after I told her not to she started it so I let her finish it she made three of nails bleed. There was never a smile or eye contact or conversation. I am not sure but if you go to a new place they should be more friendly. Young was the one who was working on me and I will NEVER go back again . So I just left Essence Nails salon next to meat farms and I am beyond unhappy with the service I received today. I got a fill in for my gel tips and when the owner started my nails she told me to get a dark color to cover up my old French and get the French next time because it wouldn't look good. I said okay but made it clear that I really did want the French and quietly agreed when she picked out a color she liked and I thought was pretty. My nail tech was Tina and she was amazing and super sweet but once she put the first coat on one of my hands I realized I really didn't like the color. So I asked if we could just do the French because I wasn't happy with the way the color looked with my skin and just in general. She said we wouldn't have time so I said I could come back tomorrow. She then told me the owner said I would have to come back and spend $25 to have them changed after I had already spent $70 today and hundreds since they've opened. I was quite upset and left and shortly returned after to speak with the owner myself. She told me she was giving me a discount by having me pay $25 instead of $35 to get them fixed and I began to explain why I was upset and didn't understand why she was going to charge me to fix something I really didn't like. We began to argue because she insisted I only spent $60 on my nails and because I spent $10 on the massage I received that there was no reason why she shouldn't t charge me. I was so appalled and then stated that she's the one who continued to tell me earlier that getting French wouldn't look good and to get a color. That's when she called me a liar and continued to tell me if I want them fixed I need to pay. I'm so beyond upset right now! I hate the way this color looks and cannot believe that this business owner cares so little for her customers that she would act the way she did and then attempt to blame me for being unhappy with her service. I will definitely never be going here again especially since I've given them multiple chances even when I've heard and seen so many issues occur here. So upset.
