Profeta has been around for so long and has always been one of my favorite places to sit and pretend I'm in Europe. It's a gem and a Westwood village treasure and I am devastated to find out that they will be closing in two weeks due to increase in rent. It makes me so livid that landlords and developers are continually pushing out businesses from the village especially when the buildings sit empty for years, contributing to a dead village and suffering businesses. The space Profeta is in is beautiful and I hope that an equally nice small business moves in but with the insane rent costs I bet it will sit empty and become a mini encampment for the newly arriving unhoused folk. read more

I rarely leave low reviews but I think businesses like Profeta deserve it. I went to buy an Ameticana ($4) and wince was raking it to a coworker who asked for a small creamer on the side, I asked them to give me a splash of creamer on a small cup on the side. Upon paying I was being charged at $7.50. Told them the drink is only $4 and they said we have to charge for the milk. I said this is an unfair amount and they said "we are a small business. If you are not happy, you can go somewhere else." I was a regular and will never go back and will spread the word to others. Stealing from people is not OK! read more

They were the best. Sorry to see them go. A highlight of visiting UCLA was sitting outside at Profeta Espresso, enjoying the atmosphere and best coffee in the area. My friend and I met here for coffee early in the morning. We were greeted by the nicest, most helpful barista. He explained their menu and made ordering easier. Our coffee's were delicious. Their outdoor patio is very serene, almost as if you've left the hustle and bustle of Westwood and found yourself in a little cottage in France that just happens to serve Vivace espresso. read more

I pop in every now and then for a cup of tea. There's always a line which is a good sign that this place is good. They prefer that you make all your calls and texts before getting up to the counter. Out of respect. It's your coffee shop that offers pretty much all your caffeine needs. They have some pastries in the counter and cold drinks in the fridge. There's seating both inside and outside which this time I noticed that the courtyard wasn't open. But there's tables out front. They also have artwork on the walls that's also for sale. It's a cute spot with college students working away or people coming in for a cup of something. Also notice that there was no outlets to charge your phone or laptop. I genuinely love it here as its really close to work, i love getting my coffee here and most of the staff is really nice! Except for an older woman with colored hair, she always seems to be in such a terrible mood and does things as if its a bother and ive seen it before multiple times the way she responds to others, it sucks bcs everyone is so nice, the staff and client/ambiance. Thats my only complaint :( their toasted almond latte is so so good and their Spanish latte as well! I really recommend their drinks!! Its a tru little gem! read more

TLDR: Chaotic queue. Order FIRST on the left, and then potentially trap yourself on the right to pay. (Yes, you read that right.) Tip: Park in Broxton Parking Structure for free 2 hours! - - - - - - I visited Espresso Profecta for my go-to Iced Latte, and a few things stood out, specifically their tight space for lines and ordering - rather chaotic. To make matters worse, the door fits one person, and the line wraps you into a trapped corner - backwards design? Another thing to note is that you place your order before paying. In other words, you receive your drink and pay at the same time. This would work well if their counter area was "reversed" so as not to trap customers into a corner. Another unique signage was that they prefer customers not be on their phones / Bluetooth while ordering - understandable given the fast-paced environment though it may come off as unwelcoming, it's not. However, what was unwelcoming was accidentally cutting in line - again chaotic experience - but it was quickly resolved. The bartenders the morning of my visit weren't the most friendly, but WOW did that espresso hit boldly. Cushioned upon a layer of soft creamy milk, it partially made up for the experience. I've missed this coffee shop! I used to come here all the time when I worked nearby and now I never leave without having a white velvet whenever I'm in the area. I used to be a profeta regular when I was a student at UCLA, but also back then they had all the seating blocked off for covid restrictions. I just visited this month and the environment was absolutely lovely!! The ambiance and space was homey yet unique, which is hard to find in the area. There was additional outdoor seating that felt like a garden and the coffee bar itself matched the entrance with nice plants. I always have enjoyed the pull of espresso they have here, you can't go wrong asking them for recommendations. If you are into the basics, the oatmilk latte is very nice here. Profeta differentiates itself from some of the other coffee shops in the westwood village by prioritizing comfort and flavor over quantity and overextension. Cane here to study on a Saturday morning (from 8:45am-12:45pm), and I was really productive and immersed here! I love the quaint vibe of the interior, and that there's a lot of natural light. Romanticizing my study experience definitely made me more excited to study. I did move tables once because the sun was hitting right where I sat, which got hot, but all the tables and chairs were relatively comfortable. I also got the pumpkin go-go drink, which is a seasonal autumn drink. I really loved it! And this is coming from a coffee-hater. The latter art on the top was very pretty and the drink was piping hot which I loved. There was just enough foam and sweetness, I was so surprised because I rarely enjoy coffee. Cute café in Westwood, just a stone's throw away from UCLA. Despite attending school there back in the day, I'd never heard of Profeta until just recently. That said, I was interested in checking it out while in the area, and I went in for a late-morning brew. Inside is more spacious than it looks, with an industrial/artsy vibe. Plenty of seating to read, chat, or do work. The outside courtyard is a true gem, with beautiful tilework and greenery as a secluded oasis away from the noise and traffic of LA. I opted to sit outside for those reasons. I ordered the "Cardi P" latte, which is a pistachio latte. I've had pistachio lattes as a seasonal drink at Starbucks, but Profeta definitely does it better: subtly nutty and creamy, and the latte artwork was a lovely touch.
