I find it incredibly convenient to my workplace, and so have frequented this coffee shop a few times. The staff is always friendly, and the service is hassle-free. It's not huge inside, but there is usually a 2-person table available, although most times, I sit outside in the California sunshine. There was an event the day before where they catered tea and coffee for the people who worked in the area and I thought the hibiscus tea was delicious so I decided to get something else from here. I had matcha from another spot down the block and it was a bit too sweet. Coming here was a breath of fresh air. The matcha was great! I usually don't drink mine with sugar or any sweeteners in it but the fact that they asked me made my day(it was the little things in this case). Cute coffee place with great service. Josh and Michelle are super friendly and run a solid establishment. I ordered online (Grubhub sucks, lesson learnt) - a pour over and a chai latte. When I arrived, it took a while to find the place. I asked about the pour over only to realize that the PO wasn't my favorite. Not a big deal, it had a good nose. Josh immediately offered to re-do with his favorite, a Costa Rican blend at no charge. It was a good decision to let him swap. The pour over was perfect with a great nose and rich, developed flavors, and a slightly sour aftertaste that I like from anaerobic coffee beans. They use v60 for their pour overs and don't rush the process. The coffee selection rotates and you can tell they curate well. They typically buy blends from Lightwave coffee, a specialty local LA roaster. Would love it if they could source some single origins. The chai latte on the other hand wasn't our favorite. It lacked a punch and was a little sweet (probably the non-dairy milk since the brew is technically supposed to be unsweetened). We also picked up a protein salad that looked fresh. Location: This shop can be hard to find, it's at the back of a commercial office building, and requires a short walk to locate the garden area. Parking on street is metered. I went it to grab a coffee to go. No greeting, when I got to counter it felt like I was bothering the barista who was busy talking to his friend. After ordering, I went to check items that they sell and after a few minutes I see a coffee waiting on the counter. I had to ask if that was mine and barely got a head nod. Mind you the space is small, and basic respectful customer service would have been to let me know verbally that it was ready. It was likely the worst latte I've ever had, tasted super watered down and you could tell the guy didn't care at all to make it. $7 (+ requested tip) for a terrible latte served with an attitude, definitely don't recommend you going there. read more

The coffee here is out of this world! The coffee we had was sourced from Lightwave Coffee, a local company in LA, and we just had to leave with a bag of beans to take home after we tried their cold brew and espresso. The Kyoto cold brew (single origin Gesha) legit smelled like blueberries. The coffee doesn't just have a roasted "diner coffee" flavor, but it really smells like the tasting notes, from fruity to earthy to sweet. This was made super clear when the staff, who were really helpful and engaging, talked us through their roasting process and let us smell different beans from their bags behind the counter. The citrus notes really shone through. The chocolate notes really hit like chocolate. Having a long commute sucks but luckily Elabrew Coffee is close by for a little pick me up to keep my work day moving. The staff here is extremely friendly and honestly, pretty quick with making my order. I usually order a matcha latte here which is one on the better matcha latte's I've had. But they have a solid selection of coffee and a menu that isn't overwhelming with too many options which is great. The quality is stellar and the taste is satisfying as well. I could easily just use the coffee machine in the office but great service and great quality drinks keep me coming back. Overall a great experience. read more

I have this rule that I only go to coffee shops once. There are so many independent coffee shops in LA, enough to try in a lifetime, and the goal is to knock as many as I can off my list. But this place? I'd come back. Their iced lavender latte is to die for! You can park in the garage, they validate parking up to 3 hours which is a great deal. We didn't know where to walk in the complex but it was the most popular place- just look for the line out the door. But don't worry, it moves fast. They also offer a free cookie with check in. Unfortunately they were all out but offered me a croissant instead. Everyone who works here seems really genuine. They don't just ask "How's your day going", its real conversation. All while keeping the system moving. I was blown away, probably the friendliest staff ever at a coffee shop. We took our drinks (fair price and large quantity) to the setting in the plaza. Elabrew is a great cafe that's located in the courtyard that hulu is adjacent to. I don't work in any of the buildings near Elabrew but I live really close-by. I only came by two weeks ago on a Friday afternoon to get quarters for laundry, after calling ahead and checking that I could do such a thing. Came to the Colorado Center for a bit and needed a little pick me up so came to Elabrew Coffee. I wasn't looking for anything in particular and was probably going to get a latte or coffee but ended up getting their lavender latte since it was a special. After a bit of a wait but not long at all, I got the order at the counter. The latte was pretty flowery, which some would say become soapy, but I didn't feel that way. I feel it was made well with a good depth of flavor and it wasn't too sweet. I'd prefer if it was hotter but I didn't asked for it to be extra hot so that could be on me. In addition to drinks, they had pastries, some ready-to-eat packaged items and a little mini-mart type place with some chips and Pocky. If you are in the area and need a place to get some work done, I'd suggest it. Seating is very limited but if you happen to be there, I'd say why not? Convenient, tasty lattes, friendly service! I come here every now and then when I need an afternoon dose of coffee. I almost always go for the lavender or matcha latte with oat milk! they don't come presweetened so you can add sweetness to your liking, and you can bring your own cup for them to fill (#savethetrees)!! They've also got good snacks for sale -- Nora seaweed crisps are flames-- and the baristas are always super friendly. A few cons are that there's not a lot of indoor seating and it's almost $6 for a latte. I'd give it 5 stars if the prices were a bit better, but honestly all the restaurants in the center are pretty expensive. If I was loaded I'd prob come here more often but for now I'll stick to my free office coffee and come here when I'm trynna splurge. read more

Was looking for a place to read and while there isn't much room inside the coffee shop itself, it is located in the Colorado center which has plenty of outdoor seating. I did get lost trying to find this place because there is no exterior sign differentiating it from a large food hall/cafeteria right next to it. My boyfriend recommended that I try this place, and I'm glad I decided to try it out! There's a beautiful fountain in the shape of a pitcher right outside Elabrew. I love how much light fills the shop, and they have cute little tables and chairs here too. Unfortunately, the chef was out today so I tried the bacon and cheese biscuit instead along with a cappuccino. The biscuit was very fluffy and large. There wasn't a lot of bacon in there. In fact, I don't think I even tasted it, but I absolutely loved the delicate crispiness to it. Cappuccino was served beautifully and had a nice roasted taste. Another plus though was the large selection of gluten free pastries, although the scone I had was a bit dry. And for a hot drink and a small pastry I paid $8.50, pretty steep. I also didn't care for the loud obnoxious rap music with obscenities at 8am in the morning (don't get me wrong I like hip hop and rap just not "F" words blaring in my ear early in the morning). I work in the office park where Elabrew is located and I'm definitely a fan. Good coffee served by really nice, fun people in a funky environment. The art and design isn't really to my taste, but they get a lot of fun products in (cupcakes, pastries, ice cream, juices, etc.) for those 3:00 snack times. It's nothing mind boggling, but it is also good coffee at Starbucks prices where the employees seem more comfortable and relaxed. Elabrew does specialty coffee well, but I wouldn't call it outstanding. If you're in the area, stop by, but don't make a special trip. Espresso: 4.0 stars Espresso was good. Nutty, slightly chocolate-y, and overall well-extracted. I enjoyed it. But when it's surrounded by neighbors that consistently pull fantastic shots of richly flavored coffee, it doesn't stand out. Latte: 3.5 stars Unlike the espresso, I felt the lavender latte was lacking. Neither coffee nor lavender stood out in this drink, leaving me with a sort of Lavender latte was kinda bland and dull--neither the coffee nor the lavender stood out. Pastry: 4.5 stars Our strawberry-almond croissant was great. Perfectly flaky pastry, lined with tasty almond paste and filled with some darn satisfying strawberry jam. They hit a delicate balance with these two flavors--both deliver bold flavor without overpowering the other. It's not often that I get a small pastry for $4.50 and think it's totally worth the price (although don't get me wrong--they should make it cheaper). I wanted to get a pourover to really taste their coffee (espresso and pourover are very different beasts), but they told me that they don't do pourover any more. I come here mainly because it's convenient during lunch breaks. So I've been here about 20 or so times and have had their baked goods many times and depending on the batch they're usually hit or miss for flavor and freshness so consistency is an issue here. Additionally, my major gripe here is their coffee, I usually like ice coffee drinks sometimes with flavor (mocha, vanilla) and sometimes without and then thing is their coffee here is always heavily milked down so much so that I see them put about 1 cm of expresso in a regular sized cup and the rest is just milk. It makes it so every time I order a drink here it taste like bad milk. I'm not going to lie, with all of that said, I'll most likely be back because the alternative is Starbucks and well I'm not a fan of there's much more so. read more

This place is hidden inside the Colorado center but it's a nice local spot. After finding it near the gym on the inside plaza, I went in to find a cute boutique cafe. Two baristas were running the place and they were both really friendly. I decided on a latte and it was perfectly executed by the barista with a little latte art to top it off. The espresso was perfectly pressed and the milk perfectly aerated. Loved the condiment bar too- agave, cinnamon, cocoa powder, and raw sugar all available for use. Loved this spot. A little out of the way for people who don't work in the building or live locally, but a nice little gem. read more

Elabrew is a small specialty coffee shop in Santa Monica serving single origin coffees. Located in the corporate office park that is Colorado Center, it's not your typical neighborhood institution. The shop itself is fairly small and has no seats, chairs, or tables. Instead, there's plenty of comfortable seating outside: beautiful wooden tables lounging under canvas umbrellas, and a covered patio for those rare rainy days. The furniture looks like it was chosen for a five star resort. I suspect most customers just take their drinks back to the office. But on a gorgeous sunny day like today, that would be a sad thing to do. Elabrew serves beans from a rotation of such renowned roasters as Ritual and Stumptown. They have a number of different preparation utensils, including a siphon. If you want a custom order, I'm sure they will be happy to oblige. When you walk in, it's hard to miss the large three-foor-tall Kyoto-style cold brew apparatus on the counter. It was fascinating to watch the coffee drip one drop at a time into the flask at the bottom. But today was not hot enough for cold brew. I chose a Stumptown Honduras off the pour-over menu. The coffee was prepared meticulously and carefully. Stumptown tends to have a bitter smoky edge to it, and this cup was no exception. However, it lifted as the cup cooled, revealing milk chocolate sweetness and an almost floral delicacy. Very Nice. I also had a single origin espresso from a roaster in Olympia, Washington. It was from Burundi and very fruity: blueberry and grapefruit, with a luscious smoothness. Parking is validated for three hours, so there's no excuse not to make Elabrew a destination to meet friends, or treat yourself, even if you don't work in the Colorado Center.
