I AM a fan of Espres Salon. I originally found this salon through a Groupon two years ago. I highly recommend asking and scheduling with LISA. . . she has been there since the early days of this eye appealing, clean and welcoming salon. I'm not sure of all of her services, but I am sure of pedicures, nails and waxing. She brings a great comfort level to the venue. By far the worst I've ever had done in my 20 years of getting my nails done. The place is super dirty too, I should have left when I started to realize it. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I've been twice and the first time got a rushed, sloppy, thick dip mani where the tech made me bleed in multiple spots and the mani literally fell off within 10 days. Second time? NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE: Within TWENTY FOUR HOURS, I had an aggressive infection pop up around more than one of my nails!!!!! (Photos attached) - this was itchy, bloody, bubbly skin that was oozing liquid, as well as inflammation, redness, and my skin peeling. This infection appeared on 5 of my fingers across both hands. I Had to rush to an urgent care for immediate medical care including strong antibiotics and a steroid ointment from their OBVIOUSLY UNCLEAN FACILITY, TOOLS, AND LACK OF KNOWLEDGE. It's been a long time since I've been to this salon, and today I was reminded why. I was a walk in so I fully expected to wait. The owner, Frank let me know they could get me in if I was ok waiting just a little bit. I acknowledged and agreed as I was already prepared to wait. Each time he came by he would say just a few more minutes, or just a little bit more. Meanwhile he sat 2 other walk ins and started prepping them for their service even though I was still waiting... Told me to pick out my color which I did. When he asked me what color and I told him, 508, he says why you pick that one, no 500s I told you pick here. Took the colors and gave me a different one which has nothing like what I wanted on it. Why are the colors out if you don't have them! Half hour later, after I was already there an hour, he comes over leans to me and says the girl do your nails finishing pedicure, just 10-15 more minutes. I got up and walked out. I've already been waiting an hour I wasn't waiting longer. I went to my car, searched for another place and ended up at Spa 7. They were able to get me in right away! They had the color I wanted originally and they were wonderful! Welcoming and pleasant start to finish! Save yourself the time and headache don't go here. Find somewhere else. This owner does not care about his clients, just his money. How he is still in business is beyond me. And dear Frank, you can save yourself the time and energy in commenting back trying to make this my fault like you have done to others who give you a negative review. I really don't care what you have to come up with as an excuse. literally the worst nail place i have ever been too. got a full set and it wasn't bad up until i asked for coffin and she continued to not give me coffin, and the nail polish was awful, it was thick, and i ended up having nail polish all over my skin, even my hands lol, and i got gel so it's not like i didn't let it dry and ruined it. they were rude and i was clearly rushed, took 30 minutes for a full set and i have never been anywhere that has done a full set in 30 mins. do not go here read more

The ratings for Espress Nail in Strongsville are low for a reason.... It is a terrible place.... do not waste your money here!!! I planned a hot stone pedi for my daughter as a gift for a special celebration. The girl "Vi"(?) Was clearly in a rush to leave. I arrived before my daughter and she asked several times if my daughter was on the way. There was one other girl doing a pedicure on a different customer. Other than that, the place was empty. While waiting I asked a few questions about services and she answered in very fast responses with no conversational quality. I informed her this was my young daughters special day and that she had only had one or two pedis previously so I wanted to do something special. Thus the extra money for the hot stone massage. In the meantime she and another worker discussed how busy of a day they had. My daughter arrived and "Vi"(?) very abruptly took us back to the pedi chairs. Giving us little time to discuss services or to even greet one another. Once in the chair she threw a color swatch of nail polish at my daughter and told her to pick. She put my daughter's feet in the water soak for 1 minute tops. Then began clipping and filing. Very fast. Then as my daughter is looking at nail colors she gives her a book to pick a scent. Not explaining any of this to my daughter. Not even telling her about the massage in the chair or helping her get comfortable. She quickly then scubbed her calves, rinsed, applied lotion...then disappeared to go get hot stones and hot towels. She hastily massaged the stones on her feet and then wrapped her calves in hot towels. Within 3 minutes she was back and began painting one coat of polish on her toes. When done, she forced my daughter's flip flops on her feel before even allowing the Polish to dry. In all, this service took approx 20 minutes!!! For $56!!!!! I was not happy. Both the girl and the man owner argued with me when I complained!!! He was talking over me and telling me how some girls do longer massages than others and that some people like that. I said that irrelevant and bad practice. After I left I was stewing. I didn't want to make a scene in front of my daughter as it was her special day. So I called the salon back and talked to "Fred" the manager again. He again argued with me and said he would refund my money if he looked at the video and the pedi was 20 minutes or less. I did not get a refund. He is a liar and cheat and this salon is awful. Ive never experienced such poor customer service or lame pedicure in my life! Also the place is filthy. The windows are smugged with handprints and grime. The fabric stools are black around the sides. Worst experience I've ever had, Mimi slit my thumb finger and then smeared my blood that she didn't clean up on my thumb nail and when I pointed it out she tried to smear it off. She also cut my toe and now it is infected. I called the owner and he said it was because I had gentle hands and put it on his notes. If I could give this place 0 stars I would! I went in for a simple SNS dip powder mani and gel pedi. Pedi was so basic the girl didn't even massage at the end with lotion. No lotion what so ever. Or on my hands. Didn't even place cuticle oil. I had to ask! My hands were so dry at the end. I was very disappointed with the service. She didn't polish my nails correctly or file them even. The sides on tips of nails weren't polished. Cuticles weren't cut or cleaned. Leaving my cuticles dry and hands dry. She even cut me around 4 fingers with the drill. But the worst part of this experience was the owner. When I went to pay he charged me $110!!!! I asked him why and to explain the pricing and he was very rude and short with me. Also said "I put in half a million dollars in this shop." Was that necessary to say? I think not. These nails were NOT WORTH $110! Ridiculous. And for the owner to treat his customers the way he spoke to me was uncalled for and not professional. He doesn't deserve any customers. And this shop needs to be closed. To top it off, it was dirty and some employees weren't wearing masks including the owner. I do not recommend. I never ever will step foot in this place again. I get my nails done every 2 weeks at another place and pay $70 for a gel pedi which includes lotion and a massage and cuticle oil, full nail polished, filed evenly and beautiful shiny coat for mani. I have been going here for years, and have never experienced a problem until this past week. I went in for a fill last Thursday with Lynn, she was so sweet and my nails looked great until half of them popped off by Sunday... Until this point I've never had a problem and figured it was just a fluke... I called Sunday at 2, when frank answered rudely insisted they had no time for me and then hung up. I called again today and scheduled an appointment- during this appointment the woman (who didn't even tell me her name when i asked) was talking on phone the entire time, complained to another employee about taking me and tried to insist I come back another day, yanked my hands around, rushed the application, burned and cut the skin beneath and around my pinkie nail with the drill while filing the acrylic, yanked my hand AGAIN after i said it hurt, and dramatically tossed the UV lamp on the table in front of me before walking away to get the polish. Since 2PM today three of the four nails she fixed chipped. I'm never one to leave poor reviews because i understand people have bad days, but this experience in its entirely has been super upsetting and unprofessional. I've gone to this salon several times because it's convenient and the stylists are generally quite pleasant and competent. But recently, I have been turned off by the owner/manager. He used to be customer focused. Would thank me for my business and offer me coffee/water. Not the last several times. Instead of any of that, I was told last month that I could no longer charge the tip, only the manicure. He didn't want to pay the 3% merchants fee for that - really??? This last time, I came prepared with cash enough for the tip. But that wasnt enough. He wanted me to pay the whole bill in cash. He ultimately accepted my credit card, but not until he was convinced that I didn't have that much cash. I have truly never paid more for a manicure than I did at Espres Nails. But this is the cheapest I have ever been treated as a patron. I could understand if this was a bargain salon, but he's charging top buck and should happily pay the 3% merchants fee for his customers' convenience - not squeeze us to save a few cents. read more

I have had some decent experiences at this shop but my most recent is reason for me to never go back. I was a walk-in wanting to get a pedicure and fill-in. Mid way through my pedicure the technician decides she doesn't feel comfortable doing my nails. She then left me sitting in the pedicure area for over 30 minutes while she began the pedicure of another client. Management's only resolve to this issue was for me to leave and come back at a later time. This was an extreme inconvenience and I will never patronize this business again after the way I was treated. read more

If you go to Espres nails, request anyone there but Lynn. I have had Lynn on two separate occasions and had a terrible experience each time. I had to file my own nails because she was unable to file them in a straight across line. When she was done filing, there was always a severe angle to the nails. I got the dip nails the last time I was there and the overall quality with Lynn was poor. The cuticle line looked terrible, the nails were uneven in thickness and I again had to file my own nails to make them even. It's so poor quality that I will be going somewhere else to have my nails redone since this last visit was to get my nails done for my wedding. read more

This nail salon is awful. Don't waste your money. The owner is pushy and makes you feel uncomfortable. He is very bossy with his employees right in front of you. The employees also mocked him in front of us! My pedicure was awful, I have dead skin all on my feet. The only thing that turned out good was my acrylics, the lady was very sweet, said she's been doing nails for 16 years. My mom and sisters feet look terrible. My toenails are uneven and they didn't care to scrub your feet at all!!! They also don't use liners in their bowls for pedicures which is sickening!! I would like to give this salon 0 stars to start off with. This business should be shut down. I basically paid to be abused. My nails look like a child did them and my cuticles are a painful torn up disaster. I feel like a cat that's been declawed. The worst is that I desperately want this shellac removed because it's so unsightly but it would be much too painful with all of the cuts and peeling. The owner/ manager needs to take some classes in business management as he is rude and makes the customer feel uncomfortable. When you are at a salon you should be relaxed and be able to unwind but my experience proved to be opposite. He talks to the girls like they are garbage and the whole process is very rushed. They got paid but they will never get my referral or repeat business. I'm just hoping I don't get infections from all the cuts and raw cuticles. I really wish I had walked out read more

I had been a regular customer at Espres Nails and Spa for years and had wonderful experiences until this summer. I showed up to my appointment to be told they had call offs and I would have to wait. OK, no biggie. Frank sets me up to soak my feet in the warm, bubbling water. After 20 minutes, he tells me this gentleman will take care of me. I have seen this gentlemen working in the salon over the years, but always as someone cleaning up and setting up areas, he was NEVER doing nails. I think he may have been going to school, I will ask to see his nails license and if he's traded to do nails, I'm good with that. Well, Frank was offended I ask to see a license and he had the gentleman checking on his phone for his license, which he could never produce for me. Frank walks by after sending this gentleman to care for another customer, and says, you keep waiting. He's always been a big rude, but I had enough, I dried my feet, left and will not return. I have a feeling, when Frank is short staffed, he may have people who are not trained nail techs taking care of you. read more

I got shoddy treatment from espres nails last fall. I asked for my nails to be done in RED and blue (I am a HUGE Indians fan). The girl painting them was using a red-brown color. I complained to her and she ignored me. I asked another employee there if she thought the color looked red and she said yes and that it was just the lighting in there. They finished the shellac and I went outside to check the color. It was BURGUNDY and blue. I went back inside and complained. The owner told me, "What do you want me to do? You shouldn't have let them paint that color if you didn't like it!" I told him that i complained twice and the girls assured me it was the lighting in there. I told him I'm was NOT paying for the service. Either he's going to fix it or he's not getting paid. The two girls disappeared. So he had some girl come over and start "sanding" - with a drill - the paint off my nails. I was furious! I am just now recovering from what she drilled off. She took so many of the layers of my nails off and I kept pulling my hand away. I don't know WHY I sat there and let her do that to me! I was furious when she was done and I left. My nails were sensitive to the touch for over a month! Then I had to wait for all the "sanded" parts to grow out. My nails were just shredded! If I would have known who to file a complaint with I would have! And the place is filthy. read more

I was greeted by a man who was the rudest most vile piece of filth I have ever met in my 43 years on the planet. I'm not from the area, and had contacted a friend for recommendations for a nice salon to accommodate 6 customers at the same time. She suggested Espres Nails. We all had a really enjoyable experience (4 women and 2 girls). We opted for the signature manicures / pedicures. The little girls had princess manicures / pedicures. Our appointments took about 2 hours. By the end, everyone's hands, feet & nails looked great. (Many had been neglected for far too long to admit!) We all enjoyed the personalized scrubs/masks and especially the massage. The staff seemed to take pride in their work and were very pleasant. Some of us opted to have a complimentary tea / hot cocoa. A little pricier than I would have expected for similar services (compared to the Pacific NW), but well worth the experience for all of us to enjoy some rare and special girls' time. I have been to the salon 3 times, in search of a local place for services. Each time, I experienced a very uncomfortable and unprofessional experience with the owner/manager, Frank(?). The first time, he yelled at a customer who came in complaining of a bad past experience. He threatened to sue her if she didn't get out of his salon. The second time, he was yelling at his employees, much like a pimp. The third time, he had an altercation with a city inspector. I go to spas to get relaxed, and to leave stress behind. I purchased a massage on Groupon for Espres. I get massages on a regular basis so i figured this would be a good way to save some money. Let me start with saying how BEAUTIFUL the facility is...and that's where the good part ends. The woman who gave me the massage was HORRIBLE! I have had better "massages" from friends who come up behind you and quickly rub your shoulders. It literally seemed like she was just moving lotion around on my skin...it wasnt even relaxing! I would bet money that this woman has no official training or certification in massage. Right after my massage, she went onto paint someone's nails...I was EXTREMELY displeased with my experience. I've been to this salon several times. The first couple visits were fine despite the cost (very expensive). The first time I experienced poor service was a few months ago when I brought my step daughters, 6 and 8, to get a mani/pedi. I was told we could get right in, but ended up waiting 20 minutes with their feet in the water. We waited so long their toes turned into raisins. Two "kids" simple mani/pedi and my fill, $96! My jaw dropped. The next time I stopped in was the beginning of December for a fill. I was told it would be a couple minutes and to pick a polish color. After picking a color and waiting approximately 10 minutes, I was told they were very busy and it would be about another half hour and asked if I wanted to come back... after waiting... for 10 minutes. I had plans that evening and other errands to run so I could not wait and I left. Strike two! I decided to give the salon one more chance. I decided to CALL FIRST in case they were busy for the holiday. I called the salon on my way home from work around 3pm, and asked what their availability was to do a full set and if I needed to make an appointment. The owner said they could do it right now and to come in. I arrived about 2 minutes later and let the owner know I just called about the full set. (I work 5 minutes from the salon.) I picked my color, sat down, and waited. About 5 minutes pass and the tech that does acrylics comes to the front and says she has to leave. Her and the owner go back and forth for a couple minutes. I then overhear the owner talking to another tech on the side. He was trying to "talk her into" doing a full set! She was saying she was uncomfortable doing acrylics because she has no training. This goes on for about 5 minutes. Two other customers walk in for regular manicures and get seated right away. The owner finally approaches me and tells me his technician that does acrylics is leaving and asked if I wanted another tech (with no experience) to "practice" on me free of charge. It was NYE and I wanted pretty nails, so I said no thank you and told him I would go elsewhere (Spa 7 just around the corner, and had a wonderful experience). He could tell I was frustrated when I mentioned I called in advanced and he said it (the situation) was "kind of rude". I agreed and walked out. The owner and staff seem to have trouble giving accurate wait times and rather tell a customer they can be seen right away to avoid the customer leaving. Not a great business model, if you ask me. I was also not thrilled that the owner was trying to talk one of the girls into doing a full set when she had no training and was uncomfortable with the idea! I really love this place. My mom and I did a mother daughter Spa day and we got signature Mani Pedis. I love the options for the herbal scrubs. I've come here three times and I always leave happy. Service is great and the prices are fair for the time they spend on you. And my pedicures last forever! If I ever need my nails done, I'd rather come here. read more
