I love this little place. Wonderful atmosphere. When we went there was just the chef and one server. It was fun because you could actually see you chef working so diligently to prepare the meal. The server was very pleasant and took very good care of us. We had the Seafood pasta and it was so very good. Definitely not stingy with the portions here. This is a hidden gem! From the humble exterior you would never think that the inside is a quaint, classy dining experience. The food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of food that you receive. My wife had the seafood pasta and said it was delicious and full of seafood. My daughter had the sea bass and said it too was delicious. I had the 14 oz. Classic Marbled Ribeye. I asked for it to be cooked rare and the chef NAILED IT! Many times I find that steaks at restaurants can be a bit under seasoned, so I asked for some steak sauce just in case. The chef said, "You won't need it ". He was right! It was a perfectly cooked and seasoned ribeye. We do not live in the area, but if we did Eslava's would be our "go to" date night place I think. This was a nice quiet place to have dinner. I had the combination with snapper and shrimp. Could have been seasoned a little more but it was still good. We had the spinach and artichoke dip and it was awesome. You won't be disappointed by spending your evening here. read more

I asked my parents to take me here for my birthday this year. My dad is the dictionary definition of a man's man and never just goes on about anything. We have a big Italian family and have huge salads with every meal with 5 kinds of lettuces and tons of fresh veggie topping and homemade dressing. Dad could not stop talking about how good the balsamic salad dressing was and even said that was the best steak he's ever had. It's also one of my favorite restaurants and I'm constantly telling my friends to go try it. We absolutely love Eslava's and can't recommend it enough! read more

I don't know what "speciality food" or type of restaurant this place is. Food was underwhelming. My friends and I wanted to order the Avocado salsa for an appetizer but were informed by the waiter that the item was no longer available and they were redoing the menu. So we settled for the fried green tomatoes. They were ok. No much flavor in the tomatoes themselves. The crab topping was okay, nothing special. I ordered the Cajun Crawfish pasta, also unimpressive. The sauce tasted sweet (not Cajun) and the spiciness and heat was overwhelming. Other than that, there was not much flavor to the dish. One friend ordered the lemon shrimp pasta. She said it had no flavor and not even a hint of lemon. Another friend ordered the pork tenderloin and cajun crawfish sauce. She said it was okay. It looked like the crawfish sauce from my pasta was slathered over the porkchop. At least use a different sauce! We were also disappointed about the "drink" menu. They only have beers and wine coolers. We noticed another table had a bottle of wine. If this restaurant is BYOB, it should be advertised on the menu. The only somewhat tasty thing here was the tres leches. Overall, we were all unimpressed by the flavor and quality for the price. The interior is also lack luster and there is lacking decor and ambience. For the price, I would expect more in all aspects. Our waiter seemed to be having a rough night, but he was polite. However, he never refilled our waters. Oh and lastly we noticed another table got bread, and we never did. I will never go back here and recommend you go somewhere else. Worst meal I have ever had in the Jackson, Ms. area--ordered the fried oysters, cold (waiter walked to 4 tables with our meal before bring it to us)-oysters hard, salty and had been cut into to make the dozen--cook should try Fat Tuesdays. We went to Eslava's on a Tuesday night. The waitress was very cordial. We had the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and they were excellent. The only problem we had with them was that they were served on an ice-cold plate. We were very surprised, because at other restaurants, we are usually cautioned by the waiter that the plate is very hot. We wondered if the entres would be served on ice-cold plates as well. They were. The food grew colder as we ate. I hope that this problem is addressed, because this is the only criticism we would make of this restaurant. The music was not too loud, though we were seated far from the speaker. It was not very crowded, as it was a week night. We will be returning on a weekend with friends. read more

I was excited to get to eat here because I had never and always wondered about it. I chose the calamari with banana peppers and the seafood salad. The calamari was almost to rubbery to eat, but the smaller the rings were less rubbery. My companion was excited about ordering the paella which was on the menu but they didn't have. Then one of the staff asked if he wanted Comback dressing on salad or feta. He requested feta and they came back and didn't have the feta dressing. My seafood salad had 3 shrimp(with tail shell.)About 2 scallops that were very good. And tasted like canned crab meat to me. To top it off there were 6 or 7 fried oysters in the salad which I would have deleted when ordering because I love them raw but not fried. I ordered Flan to go for dessert and got it home and it's just didn't taste like any flan I had had. The service was above average and very friendly. read more

This is the most underrated seafood restaurant in the Jackson area. The sea bass and red snapper specials were outstanding. The salads were cold and crisp with great homemade comeback dressing. Took my girlfriend to eat here and she got the red snapper and added crab meat and I got the rib eye. Everything was delicious and the price was fair. Eslava's is a fantastic choice for really good seafood in the Jackson/Flowood area. My wife and I have dined here multiple times and we've always had excellent service and excellent food. Last night we both started with the Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer. They were really good (needed a little more spice.) This was no problem added some salt and pepper and they were great. My wife ordered the Sea Bass and I ordered the Red Snapper. My snapper was really good however her Sea Bass was excellent. Really good fish that was prepared perfectly. The highlight of the meal however was without question the Tres Leches dessert. Man o man that was one of the best desserts that I've ever had. All and all a fantastic meal with great service. Eslava's doesn't have a fancy atmosphere but it is comfortable and I have enjoyed my experience there every time I've been. read more

Best secret in Jackson! From Atlanta and decided to try it out. I could not believe that it didn't have a crowd. The food was great! Good Food! Date night special is perfect for 2 people! You have choice between two appetizers, 3 or 4 entrees and a dessert for only $30! I chose the Avocado and fried Plaintains appetizer with Pork tenderloin covered in this awesome crawfish sauce with plenty of crawfish in it! My friend chose the redfish! Both were served with vegetables and bread. She really liked hers too, and she's picky about her fish! Dessert was tira misu I think and it was yummy, topped off with a fresh pot of coffee made just for us. It was kinda fun too, there weren't many ppl in on a Wednesday night, but there was a cute little couple that decided to get up and ballroom (sort of) dance in the front room. Basically the worst food ever. A friend of mine ordered the lemon shrimp pasta with spinach, and got LETTUCE instead. Basically soggy lettuce, which is sooooo good right? Also, they were out of shrimp. Not good food. Never going back. Too overpriced for what it was. They also had buckets of brown water on the ground from a leaky and moldy ceiling. We went for our anniversary and it was outstanding. I had the lemon shrimp pasta and my wife had the New York steak. Both were the type of dishes that make you want to come back....and we will. The food was excellent. My wife loved the Cajun crawfish pasta and I had the Alaskan Trout with lemon caper sauce and it was great. The spinach and artichoke dip was very different than expected but very good. Salad was very fresh. I recommend the comeback dressing. My wife and I tried Eslava's Grille this evening for the first and last time. Service was slow due to the fact there was only one waitress. We tried crab cakes for an appetizer. They were good until you got the cold bites in the middle. My wife decided on the snapper special which sounds good in theory but turned out overcooked, water down sauce, and shells in the crab meat. I decided to go with the seafood pasta which also turned out bad. There were at least 3 shells with every bite!!! freaking ridiculous!!! I took about 4 bites and it was literally inedible and the manager tried to make me pay for that crap!! We will never go again!! read more
