Reno Craft Beer week hired ESI to provide event security for our Kickoff event, Backwash. It's a beer festival fundraiser that was attended by many hundreds of people. ESI did so much more than expected! the folks assigned to our event were professional and courteous and on time. The one person who had to be removed was handled politely but firmly, and in such a manner that the other guests did not even notice. The extra service of providing demographic information on attendees from id scans was unexpected and very helpful. All in all, our event was better because of ESI's involvement. This company hasn't patrolled my neighborhood in years and they have their "call us if you need help" signs all over the neighborhood . When I did call them, assuming the signs weren't lying, no one seemed to have any clue what was going on. Might as well have talked to a brick wall. read more

I'm not sure why local companies keep hiring ESI because my experience on the consumer side of things hasn't been pleasant. At a recent Dierks Bentley concert in Reno that I attended ESI was running the security for the show. I was approximately 4 rows backs from the GA pit. For the first hour or so there was no presence at the front of the seating area so large groups of people standing, partying and drinking in the aisle who were from rows farther back. Many of these people were also sitting in seats that were empty but were not their seats. I would say that approximately 8 times myself or another person around us would have to walk back, find an ESI employee and ask them for help. A person would come down, break up the crowd and then leave. This process continued over and over again - with nobody staying in the area it was a weak system. After about an hour the problem got worse as now there were people jumping the 'barrier' to go from the seats to the pit. I counted probably a dozen people doing this before I decided to locate an ESI team member to let them know of the problem. I became really irritated when I couldn't find anyone quickly inside the actual venue so I walk outside to the concourse area (where the restrooms, entry doors, etc. are). I quickly counted close to two dozen ESI employees just standing around or talking to each other. I asked for some kind of manager and let this person know of what was happening. After about 10 minutes they finally put someone at the front of the barrier to prevent the jumpers. The next experience was the Reno Rodeo Opening Concert on June 14th, 2017. Getting into the venue was a fairly easy process although they were only checking to see if the tickets were valid and nothing else. Once inside the venue we went to get a drink. No mention (verbal or signs) was made that you were required to get a wristband to purchase alcohol until we were at the counter and were denied. We decided at that point that we'd rather not miss the concert and just go into the arena itself and enjoy the music. Since we had GA floor tickets we went into a different entrance to do this. At this time there were 2 ESI employees handing out green wristbands for those who were in the GA area. Not only did this take a while because of so many people but why on earth would they have not done this right when we enter? It would have made the process a lot simpler. On top of that, they quickly ran out of wristbands and were no longer checking tickets so anybody could walk into the GA pit (tickets were priced higher for this). Getting the Over-21 wristband was an absolute nightmare. The line stretched back and we waited about 25 minutes. There was ONE single ESI employee checking ID's and FOUR people putting wristbands on. Why on earth would you not have more people checking ID's? The line was so long that the concert started while we were in line. These two experiences have made me realize that any event they are hired for will be mismanaged by lazy employees and management that doesn't seem to care. Either ESI needs to get their act together or events in this area just need to stop using them. read more

Went to Sunday Stunner at Reno Events Center. My kids stood on the chairs because they could not see when everyone else stood. Security shook the chairs they were on and told them to get down when kids were standing on chairs ALL AROUND US. Way to ruin what should have been a great family experience. My daughter sat there crying because she was afraid she was in trouble. Fun fact: the kids not spoken to around us we're not white. Neither was the guard. My children are. I'd give no stars if possible. Maybe the events center should rethink their security! read more

Terrible company, Terrible employees who yell and get up in your face if you dare to talk to them, especially the guard at the courtyard Marriott by the ballpark. Overall Terrible company that hires the worst people who are not professional or polite. read more

All have to say is read the reviews. Glassdoor and Jobs Indeed have a lot of 1 and 2 star reviews. My experience with these people is one of my life's biggest regrets. I now read reviews of companies before i apply. Also if you hire esi and request a large number of guards do a head count. At the Reno Event Center sometimes we needed 70 guards, 55 show up but you will be billed for 70. They get away with it all time at Reno-Sparks Livestock Center. read more

I live near Sparks High, and we are lucky if we see security once a week. We are even luckier if they actually get out of the car to check tags. A tenant pushed his pos car into his parking space almost a year ago. The tires are going flat, there is quite a bit of front end damage and the drivers Door and window aren't shut. The registration expired 9 months ago. If you call because of a noise problem, they rarely show. My landlord says our board only has security to save them from liability. The liability is ESI is useless. read more

I encountered ESI Security services when I was attending the RL Grime concert on Oct 22nd, and after the encounter I had with the officers working that night, I knew I had to write a review! Upon entering the venue, its very clear that ESI's security officers are very professional and had sufficient training in dealing with larger concerts such as these. I've attended numerous concerts at the reno events center and I know just how chaotic and hectic it can get sometimes with the amount of people there. The officers were handling all of the gate security (checking bags, pat downs, etc.) and working the front barricades by the stage. What made me remember these fine folks over at ESI was how swiftly and efficiently they broke up what was seemingly going to be a nasty fight. These two guys that looked way under the influence decided to get tough with one another, and it started frightening my girlfriend. We were close to the action so it seemed like I was going to have to deal with the situation before it got out of control, but surely enough two officers sweep in and quickly escort them to the front gates. Color me impressed, but I was glad I didn't have two guys ruin me and my girlfriends outing, and I'm thankful that the reno events center did a good job arranging security. These guys clearly have dealt with their fair share of "enthusiastic" individuals and it saddens me that I didn't catch their names to thank them personally. Reno being a college town and having a lot of drunk idiots at events means that services like ESI are a real blessing at big events like these. These mall cops are morons! Instead of trying to help the community i live in...they harass us! I've been living where I live and so have my neighbors for 5 to 15 years...and these f'n idiots still tagg our cars for any little b.s. but then homelesses come in and wander and esi is nowhere! i would like to tell you how your employees act at the pepper mill location i have been going to this event at hot aug. night for over 15yrs. i have never been racial profiled so much in one wk. and i have been by your employees now lets talk about your security team, lets start off with wow, really. 1st we in line ready to get into the parking area, with our car , that had all the proper paper work for hot aug. night. we are pulling in behind 2 hot rods, when we pulled up in our low rider the security team stop, and tell up , we cant go in?? we ask why we have the paper work, they said no you have to have pepper mill paper work?? and we ask oh really and what is that?? guy tells us it does not matter you can't get in!! we explained to him, we have the paper work in our window, and we can get in plus we are guest at our hotel, they still did not want to let us in to a hotel where we paid over $1100, i am very upset by this time, and my husband just drove around the cone, and parked our car, then we are walking the lanes, looking at the cars, we had one of your security from esi, her name was hayley walking 3 ft. behind us. yelling at us to move over, at 1st we thought she was talking to some one else. then we figure out she was talking to us, so we turned around, and ask her why was she yelling we are all the way over, if we get over any more , we have to be on , the cars, she then told us to get on the cars, really,, i am sorry this is not our 1st car show ,we have been in a car club for over 25 yrs, and know how to walk, and act, this woman was not yelling at anyone but us, even thought we pointed that out to her, ok maybe she does not know her job, but she need to find something with our customer service, because her was very bad, then on friday night around 10pm, again we had two of your security ppl. come up to our cars only, we are between hot rods, and trucks ect. we are the only 3 low riders on the lane, they come up to us, and tell us its time to leave, and close up our cars, 1st off we where shocked, ppl. where still walking around . and we ask what, are you talking about, we are guest here, and we are getting ready to close up any ways, then the security stated ,, well we are telling everyone we been doing it for 1 hr., so the ppl, across from us come over, and tell the security, no you have not, they been there all day, and that the security keep stocking only the low rider cars, another person , came over that was on the other side of us, also told the security , ppl. the same thing, that no you keep going to the low riders, not the hot rods, not the trucks, telling them they are being profile the low riders only, if for some reason , your company did not want low riders you need to only tell ppl. i feel like they are going to go out of there way , we felt unwelcome at this location by your employees, if they don't like low riders, or should i say mexican, then maybe they should work at shows that don't have them, but we paid good money to be a t this hotel, to be at this event, and these, employees make sure i felt like i was not welcome, i would have to say the only person, of your employee that seem to know their job , was the big black guy and the front entrance in the after noon, he was always in a good mood, and did not give us any problem i would hope you would look into this and fix your problem read more

The security personnel is poorly trained. At the Reno River Festival this past weekend, one of their personnel was extremely rude, and acted threatening towards me, some man named Tony. The lack of security professionalism and proper crowd management training is a tremendous liability to any security company. I use security company's on occasion for my business and now know never hire this particular company who hires this type of untrained individual simply wearing an ESI hat and jacket. I'd be surprised if his name really was Tony as he acting like this with other people - and I'm sure others have complained - a professional jerk. read more

Security officers hired for an event in Red Rock on August 13, 2016 failed to appear, even though the service was paid in advance and the appointment was reconfirmed three days before the event. After the officers were 45 minutes late, we called the dispatcher to be told that no officers were available at that time, but they would call back with further information, which they never did. If we get an explanation for this breach of contract, we will update this review. UPDATE: This scheduling glitch was, after-the-fact, handled in a thoroughly professional manner, with an instant refund of the monies previously paid, even while an investigation as to what went wrong was in-process. Internal corrective action has been taken. Will use ESI again for our next event. read more

Were to start well. Today was tbe second time that an esi staff has caused such an embarrassment to me . me and another off duty security guard went to a plaza where a library was to make copies.we were in our security jackets due to they were lite for the weather. We left due to the library didnt open up til 1pm. So we come back around 12;55 we are told by a vendor that the guard was looking for us due to someone allegedely told her that two people were walking around in security jackets. When the guard made contact with us she has food in her hands as if she was on her lunch. She said that we cannot wear our security jackets no where while off duty because we are impersonating security guards. We were baffled by this false accusation. She didnt even ask to see out security license or anything. Then she tells the vendor a different story that it is a common courtsey for us to take off our jackets . i did some background check on esi and found out that their is two registered address for pilb and bsis: with pilb they are registered with technology way address and with bsis; They have an p.o.box. why two different address for two different agency hmmm. To accuse someone of impersonating a security guard come on nobody wants to impersonate a security guard. People dont like security here in reno much anyways. The first time the hr manager argues wirh me in parking lot due to i wouldnt take event work. My ride heard the whole arguement he was yelling loud and people inside heard this dude esi needs to be closed down. read more
