I can unequivocally recommend Andrew at his firm, Element Engineering, to anyone looking for excellence in knowledge and practice, but also for a man of integrity! I had somewhat anticipated that a typical structural engineer, may heedlessly dismiss my concerns. However, to my great relief and benefit, I found Andrew. When I presented Andrew with a whole host of structural dilemmas, there was NO dismissal from him. He went far beyond the call of duty, painstakingly tackling and anaylizing each and every issue! He provided a clear assessment of each item along with his recommendations. For one of the more baffling issues, he came up with a couple out-of-the-box, creative solutions! The feeling was, he cared,...and really wanted to help resolve the issues, no matter how seemingly innocuous. That kind of individual is pretty rare these days, so for this, I could not recommend him any more highly!! You won't go wrong with Andrew! read more

Easy to work with and quick to get the job done. I would highly recommend Element Engineering to anyone.

Thank you, Andrew, for coming out to take a look at our attic structure and vaulted ceiling. I appreciate your making time within a couple weeks to visit and complete your written report. Your trained eye made this experience much more pleasant. read more

Andrew was very quick to respond to my request for a quote for a topographical survey for a reasonable amount and indicated he could start the work that week, but then it dragged out (missing multiple deliverable dates provided by Andrew) and he was less communicative (including no response to 2 emails) so don't get fooled by the quick responses at the outset. read more

I highly recommend this local business. I had a idea on what was needed to address a broken knee brace on one of our roof rafters. We asked for and got a bid which included the large benefit of a licensed engineer. I'm okay handy with most home projects. I am smarter when I use a real licensed service. Element elEngineering gave a fair bid, fixed and improved our roof structure and we're very satisfied. Thank you Andrew for your company and your service. Professionals are worth the investment. read more

I would highly recommend Element Engineering! Andrew did a quick onsite inspection and identified several structural issues in the crawlspace, including unsupported joists and a cracked joist that needed to be reinforced. Andrew also knew exactly what was going on with a tall shear wall that was showing signs of bowing and clearly had a lot of experience addressing these kinds of issues. Andrew's team came by within a couple weeks and quickly fixed everything according to Andrew's specifications. The team was efficient, polite, and very professional. Kevin, who was supervising the team, was very patient with my many questions and requests, and made every effort to get the job done right. He clearly takes a lot of pride in his work and strives to make his customers happy. We're very happy with the work by Andrew's team and would absolutely recommend them to anyone. Considering how much work they did in such a short amount of time, the price was reasonable as well. read more

Andrew and Kevin worked on my garage roof that had trusses that were notched by the previous owner. I called other contractors that had a steep price for just the materials, but Andrew provided a reasonable price for materials and labor. Kevin (who did the job) was great, he was fast and did an excellent job. I now feel safe for the winter/heavy snow with my roof secured. Thanks Andrew and Kevin! read more

I had Element Engineering mark a property line for me. They responded very quickly, the cost was reasonable & they completed the job a couple of days later. I am very happy with the work they did! read more

Phenomenal. Sent an email in the evening and expected a response within a day but was surprised to get a no-nonsense reply within 10-15 minutes. Highly recommended. read more

Andrew got back to me quickly with a reasonable quote in the Carson City area. Very professional. Highly recommend.

I needed an engineer to give me advice on a construction issue discovered under the subfloor in my new condo. I called Andrew and left him a message describing my problem and he contacted me right away. He asked me for more detail about the problems and for pictures of the subfloor. He diagnosed the problem right away. I also received an engineering report from the builder describing the problem and solution. I had Andrew review it for me to ensure that he concurred with recommendation. Andrew is amazing. I would recommend him to anyone who needs structural engineering assistance. read more

Really appreciated the quick response and they were willing to come out on a Sunday afternoon to do an assessment of our situation. Very friendly, had a great conversation and went above and beyond in walking me through how I would tackle the project myself. Will certainly reach out again with future project needs! read more

I needed an engineer to help me determine the header needed to replace a bearing wall in a recent remodel, so I went to Yelp to get a few quotes. Andrew responded almost immediately and got back to me with the everything I needed before the next company even responded to my initial quote request! Such a pleasure to deal with, and excellent value too! Remodels are stressful enough, have one less thing to worry about and contact Element Engineering. read more

I had plans to add some tile flooring upgrades and quartz counter tops to my house. After reaching out to other engineering companies in Reno Andrew was the only one that took the time to review my home's structural drawings. Andrew's knowledge and patience was very impressive. His response time was impeccable and he took the time to answer all the questions I had. Thank you Andrew for all your help! read more

Andrew consulted on a set of recent residential projects and we were happy with the decision to go with Element. Andrew and his team were quite patient with our questions, and their willingness to deliver services against our timeline was much appreciated. We actually found it a bit of a challenge to find a local engineer that was interested in addressing our smaller residential needs. We also found it to be a bit difficult at times getting quotes from other local engineers, but Andrew's pricing fit nicely with what we were expecting to pay and we felt comfortable moving forward with Element and their set of proposals. read more

We needed to obtain as-built plans for our home in Truckee. Andrew responded quickly to our request with a fair quote, and promised the job would be done in 2-3 weeks. He actually finished the job within 9 days, and was very responsive via e-mail and text throughout. He made requested annotations at no extra charge and provided electronic copies of all documents. We will definitely look to work with Andrew and Element Engineering for any future drafting and design services. Thanks Andrew! read more

Definitely would not recommend Andrew. In December 2020, I was given his name from my designer who needed a structural report before designing my 1940-built kitchen (she had not used him before but she got his name from someone else). Andrew charged me $350 to come to the house, where he showed up without a ladder, a tape measure, or a flashlight (I had to provide those). He peeked into my attic, didn't bother to look in the basement or crawl space, then left after 5 minutes. He didn't send me a structural report, but instead sent a proposal for his construction company to remove TWO supporting walls. When I asked him for a structural report, he said he couldn't give me one without opening up the walls. So... a waste of $350. Note: I paid another engineer to provide a structural report. After a FULL inspection that included getting in the attic and the crawl space, it was determined only ONE wall was structural. Also, my designer gave Andrew's name to another client and he did the same thing to that client. Needless to say, the designer (again, she had not worked with him previously) will not give his name to any other clients. read more

While I will admit it took a little longer for us to connect with Element than some of the other folks, it was well worth the time. After a few calls we were able to connect and explained a concern about our foundation sinking. Andrew arrived as scheduled, and after a quick explanation of our recent remodel and concerns, went to work. After checking under our home, validating the level, and looking at our attic, Andrew was able to provide us with the detail we needed. Andrew took the time to explain our foundation and what he learned about our house in understandable terms. I highly recommend Element for this type of work and will call on Andrew in the future for our structural engineering needs. read more

My husband and I reached out to Andrew for a virtual consult to take down a kitchen wall in a home we were purchasing. He responded very quickly and was able to tell us that it wasn't load bearing, which was the best news of all! I'm so thankful for his prompt, professional service and the convenience of offering these virtual consults really made all the difference for us! Couldn't recommend Andrew more!! 5 stars for sure! read more

Andrew has ben great to work with and look forward to continuing our project!

I have used Andrew's engineering services twice now, for a power consumption analysis & a structural roof analysis of my residence for a new solar system. His structural roof plans got me my Douglas county permit in about 2 weeks time from initially contacting him. He is very prompt, courteous, & professional. His rates are very reasonable! Definitely hard to find services like this anymore. Glad to have Element Engineering up in northern NV! read more

After noticing a large crack in a wall, and our daughters room sitting on a slope, we found Andrew through Yelp and had him come in and check to see if there were any issues we should be concerned about. He was easy to schedule, reasonably priced, and did an excellent job. So good that when we needed an inspection on a new house we were looking to buy, we gave him a call. #highlyrecommended read more

I've dealt with several engineering consultants, and the qualities that I sought after the most I found in Element Engineering. I've had consultants not give importance to the project or not respond timely, but Andrew understood the importance of deadlines and responded right away. I don't think Andrew took more than an hour when I needed to hear from him, which is imperative to the consulting process. Additionally, there wasn't a question I had to which he didn't have an answer to, and the result of the knowledge he provided helped my project move forward. Highly recommend! read more

I can't even begin to put into words how extremely happy I am with the assistance I received from Andrew. He responded to my inquiry within minutes! I sent a message late Friday night thinking I would get a response by Monday. He responded almost before I could hit "send", lol. By Saturday he had it taken care of for me. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this business and will not hesitate to call upon him again in the future. read more

I needed a structural inspection and report for my deck in Truckee. I emailed two local engineers and Element Engineering on a Sunday afternoon to get an estimate and time frame on when it could be completed. To my surprise Andrew at Element Engineering emailed be back later that night that he'd check his schedule and get me a quote. Not only a fast response but a response on the weekend, very rare. Two days later and Andrew provided me a quote and when he could schedule the inspection. I hired Andrew and the inspection and report was done in one week. Even though my job was small, I always received a quick response to my emails from Andrew which I greatly appreciated. I highly recommend Element Engineering. Just as a side note, I received an initial reply from one of the other companies asking me for my address, which I sent, but no response since (3 weeks ago). The other company never responded at all. I realize that Truckee and the surrounding area got hammered this winter so the companies are very busy but no response or no attempt to finish a response is no way to run a business. Element will be my first (and probably only) call for any future engineering needs. read more

I've been looking at a lot of homes lately - mostly fixers. Normally I avoid foundation issues all together but I was especially curious about what appeared to be a screamin' deal. So with the help of my realtor I got in contact with Andrew at Element Engineering. I texted him photos of the three external cracks in the foundation of the house I was looking to buy. He gave me super-fast, super-in depth responses on everything I threw at him, even outside normal business hours. His honesty and knowledge are seriously unmatched. I got outbid on the house, but Element will always be the first people I call from here on out. A+. read more

I recently received a letter from my home insurance company that they had done an exterior inspection of my home and wanted repairs done for a 'crumbling foundation'--an alarming statement to say the least! After reading many positive reviews on Yelp about Andrew/Element Engineering I decided to give him a call (which was on a Friday at 6pm). He returned my message within an hour and told me that he would take a look at it the following day and give me his impressions. Around 10am the next day he came by and we discussed the issue---which was a non-issue--my foundation is in good condition. He took pictures and sent me a report at 6:46 on a Sunday morning! I am fortunate that there was not a 'real problem' but if I have one in the future (e.g. eventual repairs, many years down the road), he will be the professional that I call. I very, very much appreciated Andrew's professionalism! read more

I needed a review of the deck structure for our newly purchased home in Incline Village since we'd be adding a hot tub soon. My realtor recommended another firm that I emailed and called - with no response. After seeing Andrew's great reviews I sent him an email and was amazed when he responded within minutes. He immediately reviewed the dimensions and pictures that I provided and suggested improvements that would provide the support that was required. He was very supportive and enthusiastic, and, my concerns were alleviated in short order. I highly recommend using Andrew for your engineering needs, both big and small. Don't bother with others who are unresponsive and unapproachable. I have to say that my experience with Andrew was truly exceptional. You will really enjoy working with him. read more

I've used Element's services for grading/drainage plan, setbacks and foundation forms inspection for an ADU. They're very professional, quick to respond, and reasonably priced. Andrew is the best! Just as I thought I needed an additional permit for grading, since the site retaining wall was looking to be over 3ft, he suggested to do 2 terraced walls, which saved me a lot of time, money and headache dealing with the city's building department. Highly recommend! read more

Andrew was the first person to call me back. He was super friendly, professional, and upfront about his availability and price. He ended up being invaluable with his knowledge of the most affordable and competent referrals. The best course of action. Creative and out of the box solutions. I am not one who likes to leave negative reviews but this is a special case. I found Andrew through Yelp, there were a lot of good reviews and his website showed he had been in business for some time. I tried calling him and his voicemail said his preferred form of communication was text...this should have been my first warning. (During the process I needed to speak with him regarding specifics and his email said to text him first to tell him I would be calling so that he would answer the phone. Again this is a major red flag). I decided to send him an email requesting a land survey and plot plan, he replied back that he could do it and his cost along with the promise of getting it completed in 10 days (that was April 24th). 10 days came and went, I had to reach out to him to see what the status was on May 10th he said he was aiming for the end of the week. I emailed him Friday the 14th in the afternoon asking for an update, no answer. We decided to drive by the property on the 17th and saw that the markers from the land survey were there. I sent him a text that day asking when to expect the plot plan and he replied on Wednesday...so I text him on the Wednesday the 19th, no answer. Then I get an email on the 20th that he is 75% done and asked for the house placement on the property and for 75% of the payment. So I send him the info he needs along with payment....May 28th we use the 'plot plan' but the measurements look wrong, he has our property line showing starting at the wrong point even though the markers from the land survey show that the property is where the accessors map shows it is. I ask him about this and he says that he is out of state and will send someone to check it out, this was on May 28th. June 9th we have not heard anything June 15thwe ask for another update, he says his field guy is sick and he is still out of state. I am getting pretty fed up because our entire project is waiting on this plot plan! I decide to Google what a plot plan looks like and it looks nothing like what he sent us. No measurements and my contractor even said this is wrong. Our latest attempt to get something done was yesterday 6/29, my boyfriend sent him a text and email with no answer. I sent him a text and he said that the plot plan was correct (it is not, I have already talked to another civil engineer who is going to create a correct plot plan for us). I text him again today 6/30, asking for a plot plan with measurements...no answer. So I text him again asking if I could at least get the CAD files, he answered and said he just emailed them. This whole transaction has been completely unprofessional. I am glad I only paid the 75% but even at that it was a waste of money because the land survey has never been correct. I should have gone with someone else I am so mad at myself at this point. I plan on seeing what complaint I can put in against his civil engineers license. So do yourself a favor and find someone else that is more reliable. I am having a hard time understanding where any of these good reviews on Yelp and Google came from but if you look at the names listed of who submitted the review they only have 1 review submitted under that name which makes me think they are fake. Don't waste your time or money on this guy! read more

Andrew was quick to respond, he is very personable, and he delivered a report written in plain English. I think Andrew delivers great value for his (very reasonable) professional fee, and I would definitely go to him again with any issue.
