I had somewhat anticipated that a typical structural engineer, may heedlessly dismiss my concerns. However, to my great relief and benefit, I found Andrew. When I presented Andrew with a whole host of structural dilemmas, there was NO dismissal from him. He went far beyond the call of duty, painstakingly tackling and anaylizing each and every issue! He provided a clear assessment of each item along with his recommendations. For one of the more baffling issues, he came up with a couple out-of-the-box, creative solutions! The feeling was, he cared,...and really wanted to help resolve the issues, no matter how seemingly innocuous. That kind of individual is pretty rare these days, so for this, I could not recommend him any more highly!! You won't go wrong with Andrew!

Overall very happy with Robison Engineering…read more Last year I bought a piece of land with horrible erosion, drainage issues and a man made seasonal pond that was over 5k sq ft. Knowing I was going to need to find an engineer with water/flood experience, I began to ask around for recommendations. A local business owner who built his business near a river recommended Robison engineering to me and specifically, he recommended Nathan. I emailed the company from their website, described the issues on my land and said I would like to work with Nathan if possible because he was recommended highly. I received an email back within hours from Nathan saying he'd be happy to work with me and help get the water issues and concerns under control. I was shocked to see Nathan's last name in the email -Robison. Not only did Nathan respond to my email quickly and agree to help, he is the owner of the company! I was not expecting that at all. I even said to him, I am sure you are extremely busy since you're the owner and I completely understand if you hand this off to another engineer but he said he'd do the plans himself. Though it did take him a bit longer than I was expecting- I had hoped one month but it took four which included getting the permits approved by the county- the plans he created were very detailed and professional. He even recommended a few contractors he has worked with in the past and thought would be good for my job specifically. It's been a year now and his drainage plans seem to have worked! The land is draining and dry now!

Initially, I had contracted another company to help me with the construction of my new manufactured home, but after making me wait over nine months just for a mere proposal and then trying to overcharge me, I was at my wits' end. When I reached out to Robison Engineering, Nathan not only listened to my situation, but he also showed unmatched compassion and professionalism. Within just a few days, he completed the entire foundation plan for my new home, helped me with fees, and even did the work pro bono. On top of that, he went above and beyond by verifying the floor plan with the fire department, ensuring county approval so construction could move forward without delay. In less than two weeks, Nathan and his team accomplished more than local companies had in almost a year. If you're looking for timely, high-quality, and truly professional service, look no further than Robison Engineering. They are the unsung heroes who help build--and uplift--our local communities.

Marvin E Davis & Associates Civil Geotech is a good company to work with…read more I have worked with Chad and Mike for little projects and these guys are good to go. They are hard workers. There office staff are good too and very reliable when it comes to getting back to you about projects. I love that about them. I have done a perk test and land survey with these guys and they have done an excellent job on both. I have talked with Mike and he has been around with this company for awhile a now and he really is good at his job. The office is small but big enough for checking out your plans and has a small planning area. There is a fronk desk area for you to check in at. Very conveniently located and has plenty of parking and street parking. I highly recommend these guys if you have projects you need to get done on your property or land. I am definitely a fan and will keep coming back. These guys have really taken care of me. I really like the small town feel of these guys. I have not been put to the size like other companies I have inquired from. My projects are small compared to other projects these guys are dealing with but they really took the time to help me with my projects. So again I would highly recommend these guys and check them out to see if they can help you on your next project. Thanks for reading my review.

Reno Tahoe Geo (formerly Marvin E. Davis & Associates) is now operated by Jonathan Pease…read more I did not have a good experience getting a soils report for a new single family house from him. He produced an initial report with a soil bearing pressure and a set of recommendations for how to prepare the site. We followed these recommendations, which included compacting any fill into which footings would be dug, and, where possible, cutting footings into native soil (in which case no compaction would be required). However, during subsequent field visits, after the footings were dug into native soil, he changed his recommendations and suggested that we did need to compact even footings that were dug native soil. He sent three different technicians for three different field visits, so no technician became familiar with the site. The final field visit was done by a technician who calibrated her instruments incorrectly. Both my foundation contractor and a hydrologist on site told her that the device was mis-calibrated, but she insisted that the soil was not as compact as it should be. Finally, after getting Jonathan on the phone, she agreed that she had entered the wrong calibration coefficients and that our soil was indeed compacted to specification. However, she was rude and defensive, and continued to suggest that are soil compaction was inadequate even after she spoke with Jonathan and corrected her instrument. I had to call Jonathan three times over the next week to persuade him to issue a final report. Jonathan also sent a different tech for a site visit that I never requested. This tech billed 9 hrs of time to come to the site, watch my excavator work, and collect a soil sample. According to my excavator, the tech was on site for approximately 1 hr, and the site is approximately 90 minutes from Reno. Both the fact that I never requested this visit and that I was billed a shockingly high number of hours makes me suspect that Jonathan wanted to pad the project hours, since it was coming in substantially under his original estimate (and his final bill was within $5 of his original estimate, even though we were working on a time and expense basis).

We've built mountain rustic to mountain contemporary homes designed and engineered by them, so they cover all the architecture styles you can find in Tahoe-Truckee. We've recently built two spec homes (getting ready for our third) with Dennis' team and they really do help you as the owner/builder get everything done, especially with the pre-permiting and design approval process, as nothing can be more frustrating then getting "worked" in a design review committee meeting. They also get everything ready for the building department application process. We plan to continue to use DD&A for future projects. Steeleconstructiontahoe.com

Rob (the owner), who is a 3rd generation contractor, met us promptly after our initial inquiry. Not only was his project plan comprehensive and pricing competitive but we just got a really good "member of the family" vibe from him. It's such a leap of faith to trust someone with an asset like a house but we are so glad we took that leap with Rob. The project included flooring, every inch of electrical, modified interior framing, insulation, complete kitchen, complete master bath reconfiguration, half bath refresh, sheet rock, trim, painting and the occasional psychotherapy session when we encountered a few surprises along the way. Rob was patient, kind, thorough and had a crazy eye for detail. One of the things that really set him apart from other general contractors we've worked with in the past is the quality of subcontractors (electrical, plumbing, tile, etc) and how closely he manages those critical resources. If he says countertops are going in on a Thursday, they are going in on a Thursday. On one hand, the thought of going through another remodel gives me PTSD since I'm ready to just enjoy our home without making a dozen decisions per day for several months. But on the other hand, we are going to miss seeing him so often and will make him our first (and ONLY) call when it's time for the next project.
