Absolutely terrible and outdated. My husband and I have done tons of escape rooms, this was by far the worst experience. When we had to ask for clues, they gave us clues for parts of the puzzle we had already solved. We had to keep asking and each time the clues got more confusing and contradicted each other. At one point the girl had to come in to explain. Afterwards, their excuse was that their cameras couldn't see everything. Not sure why they would place puzzles in blind spots. Also terrible customer service. The fact that they admitted their cameras couldn't see everything and they did not try to rectify the situation, tells you everything. We failed towards the end but it did not take away from the fact that we had SUCH a fun time playing. We had a BLAST! We took our two boys with us (8 & 10) and they had so much fun. Our youngest was so observant to the most random things that ended up helping us and our oldest found quite a bit of clues. The room was interesting and very creative. I loved how well thought out the entire scene was. I was also surprised at how big the room needed up being. It was surprise after surprise and we made it to the end. The staff was helpful and paid attention to make sure if we did need a hint, we got it promptly. They were also thoughtful to mark things that we were not supposed to touch so we didn't end up breaking something on accident. More places really need to work on that. Haha. Thanks so much Conner!!! We had so much fun!!! What a great group activity! Can't rave enough about how much fun we had taking on this challenge. Their scenarios are creative and clever. Accidentally, our group selected one of the more difficult escape room themes. We could probably have answered the clues remaining if we'd had just another 15 minutes or so. Despite that we did not complete our mission, the experience was so much fun!! I definitely recommend an escape room with family and friends' get-togethers. If you reserve an event online check their staff for possible discount codes or referral codes. They have themes that range from easy to difficult levels. Be sure to know which level you're requesting. Even if you choose an easier level, I can only imagine making the experience more fun and successful to feel accomplished and completing the mission. Our difficult level escape room did stump us several times, but if we ask for more clues, it affects our time, since the goal is to escape in the quickest time possible; we do get more time added to our group if we ask for additional clues/help. Also, try all the doors as soon as possible! Even if it's locked. We made the mistake of not trying a door and missed a very obvious clue while taking a longer time to complete a task. Also, dividing the tasks amongst the group will save so much time. Don't waste time having everyone work on one puzzle. Divide and conquer, is the saying and great advice. My kids are all obsessed with escape rooms, and escapology had a great deal on Groupon. My kids chose to do the murder mansion mystery, which is the hardest level. And boy was it hard. They barely solved it. Lol. But they enjoyed themselves thoroughly. They said it was one of the best, & biggest escape rooms they've been to so far. Lots more interactive clues to deal with, much bigger & roomier rooms. Such a beautiful lounge too, with a bar & tables on the other side. The lounge/wait room had lots of games to play with to keep the kids busy while they wait. The staff were all amazing & really took the time to make sure the kids passed and solved the mystery. The place is also in the same building as pins & pockets bowling. The number on Yelp is actually pins & pockets, & they just connect you to escapology. They also have an arcade area in the building, a pool & game area, & also another bar that serves lots of yummy food. I ordered that day the grilled cheese and tomato soup, the French dip sandwiches, & my husband ordered the tater tots. All delicious, but next time will ask them to not dip the French dip sandwiches because they came out soggy & falling apart. I wanted to order their extra, extra, super huge pizza. But will try that with the kids next time. They do have happy hour, & yes they do military discount. Great experience, and a fun place to hang out. I'm sure we will be back many times. read more

Just got home from celebrating son's birthday with some of his friends... hands down the best place for a 15 yr olds bday (any age tbh) these boys had such a great time! It was great to have so many options under one roof! Tavern for food, arcade and laser tag topped off with the Scooby Doo escape room!! This was our second time here (group of 4). 1. Game Master Our game master was Austin and he was not paying attention to us at all. Austin gave us a clue when we didn't ask for it and he marked us down! Maybe he thought that the four women in the room just weren't competent enough to finish the puzzle we were talking through. When we were doing a portion of the room correctly and it was not triggering the mechanism, he didn't even acknowledge us and we lost 15 minutes because of it. We had to use another clue for him to tell us to do the same thing we were already doing. It was annoying and made the whole escape experience less enjoyable. 2. The Room Murder mansion should have been fun but it just wasn't. The story and the rooms don't flow well and they expect you to look for words that are written in size 9 font on giant walls. As one of the millions that wear glasses and chose not to bring them today, there was no way I was seeing that. 3. Overall Overall, there are better escape rooms to experience. I would say give them a shot once, but it's not a place you go back to. They're not coordinated and the game masters are hit or miss. read more

Not being super-avid outdoorsy folk, although we are proud to have done a good number of waterfall hikes in the area, the only thing we really knew about Lake Elsinore prior to this staycation, was the superbloom of poppies a few years ago. Since then, since we do not own a boat, this gorgeous area between Orange County and San Diego has been off our radar, until we decided to check out Ortega Falls ... Well, the waterfall was an easy check off our bucket list, and it was a nice stop (and steep drop) breakfasting at The Lookout Roadhouse, but a quick search on the Internet will show that the area is a one cinema area with many, many Mexican restaurants. BUT. But, but, but, but, but ... Some city planning genius put up a giant entertainment center right across from our hotel, opposite from Annie's, and housed within it, pool tables, bowling lanes ... and, ta-da! Escapology Escape Rooms! We could have spent a week in the entertainment center alone, honestly, and this is not counting the fantastic food (the Soup Shots!) we enjoyed post-game at Pin-and-Pockets itself. So, first off, online booking with Escapology was a seamless, no-hassle affair, even when we had to change our original time. We had thought they were just a local set-up, (and, in fact, they are the only escape room within Lake Elsinore proper) but when we got home, we took another look at the website and discovered they are international! YES! This is how much we enjoyed ourselves - we looked them up again post-game. The parking lot is huge and free - we could see it from our hotel, and we were struck dumb when we walked into the cavernous hall that led to the bar and restaurant, arcade games and laser tag, bowling alley and billiards room (here is not where you tell me the difference between pool and billiards). A quick turn to the left, past the events ballroom, takes you to Escapology. The lobby was jaw-drop-inducing. In addition to the usual setup of games, merch and really quite luxurious seating, there was a bar. A Bar. Sadly, there was no one to serve drinks when we were there, but it worked out, because our gamemaster was right on schedule to show us to our adventure with Scooby Doo! Madi was amazing. Once she found out we had played some games before and recorded our group name, she gave us a quick introduction, checked that we did not need the restroom (there are plenty in the complex itself, as well as inside Escapology) and then we got started. Scooby Doo and the Spooky Castle Adventure was a LOT of fun. It is what we call a Generation 3 (3G) room that is licensed so all the FX, decorative elements and voice effects are authentic to the cartoon. The Scooby Clues that were provided within the game were so tailored to helping us have a great time, you don't even need a sense of smell to sniff things out. There was a good mix of simple, obvious puzzles, and more challenging ones, with different puzzle steps provided by pre-recorded voice actors but clues are unlimited when requested of the game host. We did experience a glitch in the game where Madi had to come into our room to replace a key, but she was following our game very closely and was so proactive, we did not even realise there was anything wrong until she came in. We loved that they, knowing it was a dim room, gave us a flashlight and scratch pad before the game started. Décor was kept to the theme, and the game played to theme: it was linear and logical, and there was no point in time that we asked, "what next?" Scooby Doo and the Spooky Castle Adventure gets five stars from us for the timer in the room, which included an auto-countdown, and Madi's pacing of our game was so well done, we got out in 57:03 - heart-thumping indeed! And then she rewarded us with a couple of rubber bracelets! We loved our photos taken on their camera, against the Escapology board with cute signs, and e-mailed to us immediately after the game. Escapology was so unexpected coming out of Lake Elsinore where the activities seem to revolve around real escapes in the gorgeous natural environment that is Cleveland National Forest. It is a must-go - for anyone new in town, and anyone who appreciates a 3G room at a third of the prices you find further north! read more

We did the murder mystery escape room 9/10 and did not make it out in the allotted 60 minutes. We took a ton of clues and still were not able to solve. Fun room, Nicely decorated but super hard. By far the worst escape room I've ever been to. Starting with the staff unfriendly and they do not even care to help you with hints. Puzzles did not make sense the room is completely clueless. After wasting roughly 10 mins on nonsense when you ask for a hint ,that does not help or make sense so you're in the same situation plus they remove 2 mins of the clock. I spent roughly 30 mins struggling and staff did not interact at all or care. Rooms are very small. After wasting all our time a careless staff member comes in the room and asks how our experience was and laughs at us cause we failed. Asks us if we want to take a picture and then says good bye. I would not recommend this place at all don't waste your time here or your money . read more

Stay far away from this place . The rooms here are ridiculous . We have done over 60 rooms and this is by far the worst to date. The room was not even prepped correctly before we started. Our game master even told us it was not prepped correctly.The part that wasn't prepped in the beginning made us consume all the time of the game . Then we asked for the host to show us how to work the wheels and he couldn't even do it for us . We had asked that we get no hints and , we'll we were given hints likes every 10 minutes . They told us not to touch things with red dots. However one of the thjngs we needed to use for stuck and had to use the area with the red dots to get out and use . The flow of the game was a stretch for getting the clues correct . This was a colossal waste of time and money .I'd ask For a full refund if I knew I'd get my money back . read more

I went with my cousin and two nieces. I was worried because they are in junior high but they had no problem figuring out the puzzles and following the clues. We did difficulty level 7, which was perfect. We tried to let them take the lead and only make recommendations along the way. We escaped with 5 minutes to spare. 4 stars because it was too expensive for what it was. Very fun. Good for kids. read more

My friends and I came here initially because we are escape room enthusiasts and we were definitely satisfied with how immersive the experience was. We were so immersed we ended up doing another room the same day. Tip: go on Groupon to get more deals becomes cheaper than the initial price, the bigger the group We're going to try and collect all the different bands to complete each of the rooms. There are about six different types of rooms total each ranging in difficulty. I think we're going to try the more difficult rooms next time! read more

We did the submarine one and did not have a good time. We've always done the hardest rooms at places we've gone to but this one was not put together well. At one point, a card we found just told us our next step was to ask for a clue. Why wouldn't the next step just be on the card?? There's also a section with wrenches which we were told need to "fit perfectly" we needed a size down but it wasn't in the room, it was in the photo taking area. When we asked why it wasn't in the room since it's the one we needed and they said they didn't want to adjust the combination lol. Overall it was convoluted, so the math, convert to letters, convert to numbers... when I'm fine with some math but prefer puzzles and clues that are accurate. 9.5/10 difficulty should be hard, but not because of poor coordination. Wouldn't recommend the submarine room, but from the poor planning with the wrenches, and a dial also being the wrong number for a combination, I imagine the other rooms are poorly put together too. read more

We were excited to try and the Scooby Doo room and it was such a letdown! So many technical issues! The room was also falling apart and some clues could not be solved due to the broken things in the room. Also, the solved clues were very delayed (minutes later). When we requested assistance, we had to contact them multiple times before getting a response. We have tried over 10 different escape rooms at other locations. This was our first time trying Escapology, and it will be our last because it went so very wrong. We vocalized the technical issues and the response was, "yeah it can take awhile" and we were dismissed. My recommendation, try the other brand escape rooms, NOT Escapology. read more

Budapest Express was very mechanical, no tech whatsoever, full of confusing unorganized gen 1 so called puzzles, and there was absolutely nothing exciting to look forward to when you figure anything out other then a clue to the next letter or digit code you need for another box or to exit. Such a massive waste of money and time. Just don't do it. Go to mind trap or clever fox in the area if you want a good experience. read more

My family and I have completed four of the six escape rooms that Escapology offers: Budapest Express, TH3 C0D3, Narco, and Murder Mansion. We have escaped from two out of four, Budapest Express and TH3 C0D3. All four have been extremely fun and challenging in different ways. Each room is designed in an unique way, providing immersive atmosphere, challenging obstacles, and memorable moments that we have learned from and utilized in other escape rooms; making us a little better each time we attempt rooms. Besides the amazing rooms, what stands out the most at Escapology is the wonderful guest service by the staff. The game masters are friendly and helpful, while also insuring that the challenge of the experience is never ruined. We have always been greeted enthusiastically by the hosts, and today we met Ayana (I'm sorry if I spelt that wrong) the manager. She was so much fun to speak to and genuinely excited to prepare us for the room, as well as after to see how we did. Originally, my group signed up to only complete Narco, but we had so much fun we immediately signed up for TH3 C0D3 right after. Ayana and Isaac got us in right way and while we waited, both told us about a number of escape rooms in The Valley that we could go to. Over all, our experiences here have been amazing and we have enjoyed both the rooms and the wonderful service from the the team. read more

The game was not functioning properly and our game master was MIA throughout our entire experience. This was my first experience in an escape room. We didn't complete the escape but had a great time! I took my 11 year old and he definitely enjoyed it. I would totally recommend it for a small group team building activity, date night, or group party. Super clean place. Take advantage of discounts during the week or Groupon deals for bigger groups. I only gave it 4 stars because at the end of the 1hr escape attempt, we got a picture taken with a backdrop and was told that I'd receive the picture via email but I did not . Rayleen was our helper for the night and was very friendly even though we barely won she gave us a good laugh. Our game master Carly was very helpful with clues to get us through our puzzles. A group of four of us did Murder Mansion and Antidote. Antidote was super fun and we had to work together as a team to solve clues which made it even better. We used two hints and the way the hints were worded was excellent. We were a little disappointed with murder mansion. That was the room we were looking forward to the most but the clues just did not seem to flow. There was a lot of guesswork involved rather than actually putting the clues together. Overall, we are looking forward to going back and trying another room there. read more
