Following these conversations, I noticed a distinct change in her demeanor. She became less personable, her work felt increasingly rushed and routine. Another concern was Tiffany's repeated criticism of the salon owner during appointments. During one appointment, she explained that a particular gel-removal product was unavailable because the owner was too cheap to purchase more. When I brought this to her attention, she insisted that she had followed my instructions and continued working on another client's nails without meaningfully addressing my concern. I explained that I was leaving the country in three days for a three-week trip and asked whether the manicure could be corrected. Her response was that I would need to pay an additional charge. She also stated that mistakes happen because she is only human, that she had no availability, and that someone else would need to correct it. The technician clearly knew what he was doing. He was doing a great job -- until he was micromanaged and rushed. And to top it all off, when I wasn't happy, the solution offered was for me to come back another day so she could "finish" the design. No. I was excited about my nails that day, not next week. That completely missed the point. To add to the confusion, the pricing made absolutely no sense. My nails ended up being $10 more expensive, even though I only had one nail repair -- while my niece had two repairs and paid less. Make that make sense. We came in wanting to support a local business. Instead, we left feeling rushed, dismissed, overcharged, and like an inconvenience. If you're going to run a salon, let your technicians do their job, respect the clients in your chairs, and be transparent and consistent with pricing.
