I'm really surprised this place has bad reviews. I booked the Lost in Time room and it was really fun! The employee who helped my party was really friendly and detailed with her explainations. The lobby/waiting room was clean and the bathrooms were clean also (always a good thing). Even though we didn't escape it honestly was a great experience! If I could rate this place lower than a one star, I would. I have been to multiple escape rooms throughout the years and NEVER have I left a room feeling disheartened and frustrated. The puzzles were such a mess that it wasn't even fun, the clues were also more confusing (I don't even know how that works), and the background ambience was extremely low quality and annoying (you could clearly tell that the sirens were looped on a video that constantly cut out... really ruined my immersion). I don't have high standards for escape rooms but this was something else... there are other better escape rooms in Houston that deserve your money, this is not one of them. It also sucked that when we finished the room, the staff looked like they wanted us to leave immediately and weren't even allowed to tell us what we missed in the room. On a positive note, at least the props and dead bodies were pretty cool. It made me jump and scream in surprise before the room even started. Sad that everything else sucked :( read more

Okay to start off the first with blond hair with glasses was really welcoming and really sweet. Me and my family decided to go yesterday here because it was my sister birthday party. We went there before and it was a great experience until recently. We decided to play the pandemic one. So sweet blond girl told us she will have someone to help us shortly. The short girl with short black hair came too strong and was super rude. Of course, we haven't been there for maybe over a year. When we were putting up out things on the locker. We didn't know whether to ask about the lock and key. She didn't say anything. We ask her about key and a lock. She looks very annoyed and answered in a rude way. That's a major red flag. After we were done putting up things in the locker, she proceeded to take us to the room. She not clear with instructions AT ALL and was really rude throughout the game. Honestly with this recent experience she ruined the family time. If she is that MISERABLE to keep working there. There's no point for her to keep working there! read more

Looking to do something different on a Friday night, my friends and I decided to check out an escape room. The organizer looked for something central to everyone and Escape It Houston seemed to be the best choice. When I looked up the location, I realized I had been here years ago and had a good time. This location is located in the Houston Marq-E Center which is a entertainment complex. Parking is plentiful. Customer service was ok. Just some young kids there to collect a paycheck. We booked in advance and it came out to about 30 bucks a person which seemed a little expensive to me. We arrived about 15 minutes before our reserved time as instructed and waited for our time to start. They do ask that everyone puts all personal belongings in a locker provided including phones. I thought surrendering your phone was optional, but they made it sound like a requirement. I wasn't a huge fan of that considering there are cameras in the rooms and they can easily kick parties out if the phone rule is broken. I guess this takes away any temptations. We had one member of our party running a little late, but they are strict on times and will allow late comers to enter the room late if need be. They have quite a few different rooms and themes to choose from. I believe the Katy location has more options. We had the choice between Lost in Time, Apollo 13, Davinci Code, Pandemic and Alamo. All of them vary in time and difficulty. All of us work in the medical fields so we went with Pandemic. This room is a 60 minute room. You have that much time to find a cure among dead bodies and a bloody lab. There are screens inside telling you how much time you have left and how many clues you have left. They will give you up to 3 clues when all the participants are in agreement to ask for one. I feel like we are a pretty intelligent group, but there is really nothing to get you started or point you in the right direction. You really have to look at every detail and put the pieces together. About 15 minutes in we asked for out first clue and it was something that was not obvious at all. Once we got that going we slowly made progress but did need to use all our clues. I won't give anything away, but I felt like it wasn't a well put together room. We had fun though. Overall, a good time was had but we didn't think the price matched the experience. It did make us think about trying other escape rooms though. I might consider coming back at some point if the price is right. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. Tried going to the west location today. But the employees there were so incredibly rude that we ended up not purchasing. We were told opposite information and was confronted with attitude from the moment we walked in. Neither employee were on the same page with the information given for booking and their customer service was far from polite. The first employee we encountered told us to come back at a certain time to do a room and did not tell us we had to purchase online or 15 minutes ahead of time, she only said to check online and see if anyone else booked the room, and when we came back, the "manager" told us we didn't book in time and we had to book at least 15 minutes before a room started , even though the first employee told us to just come back at a specific time. Completely unprofessional attitudes and communication. They were empty too with no customers doing any rooms. read more

We do A LOT of escape rooms around the greater Houston area and this was by far the worst. We did Pandemic and it was cheesy, no-frills, cheaply done staging of the rooms. The puzzles were not at all cohesive - just random puzzles made unnecessarily difficult by the fact there's not a good storyline. We didn't have fun, were left feeling frustrated on my spouse's birthday, and basically wasted time and money paying extra for private experience of a silly "game". Never again. read more

Came here for a work activity. We did the Da Vinci escape room. Everything was explained pretty well, and the props were decent but some of the puzzles made absolutely no sense (and required us to ask for a clue). There seemed to only be one employee working and we would have paid for a second escape room, but I guess they didn't have the manpower because times were spaced pretty far apart and we weren't going to wait an hour for the next opening. read more

It was fun! We escaped with 17 minutes left, so I don't know if we are really smart or if the room was a little easy lol. Either way we had a blast. Don't take kids if your doing the Apollo 13 because they have delightful calculus math problems at the very end. How stupid.... We also did not get the same experience we get at other Escape Rooms in the city. Once it's over, they didn't provide signs for us to take pictures to save the memory or anything. We just walked out after loosing and that was it... I've actually had goof times loosing at other escape rooms but not this one. It was a complete drag. I just wish we were dealing with somebody different. The person with the staff was just completely rude. read more

FYI, addressing the complaint about calculus on Apollo 13, that has been changed, at least there wasn't any calculus when we played it. It's a quick 30 minute room with lots of interaction. Also did divinci and it was fun and loved the statue. I won't give anything away. read more

went to west location did "lost in time" other than the couple red herrings what I really didn't like was they had a one time guess puzzle in the middle room that would cause you to loose the entire room if you guess wrong ONCE. ok, they let us know at the begging, but the puzzle wasn't maintained and hard to operate. My wife and I had a date night at this place. We did two escape rooms. The first one (Da Vinci) was logical in its progression and appeared well thought out. We needed one clue and finished in 27 minutes, fast enough to end up on the leader board. We had a great time. The second room, Pandemic, on the other hand.... Appeared poorly thought out. Several of the puzzles had no logic behind their reasoning, and even the game master running the room could not explain the reasoning behind them when we asked at the end. The game master for that room also was not the best communicator with the clues when we used them. One of the puzzles was actually broken, and instead of notifying us ahead of time or gaining our attention verbally, he responded by typing the clue's answer in a very tiny font on the screen and left us wondering why our effort wasn't working. read more

I've played several games at Escape IT Houston at both locations. At this location, I played Apollo 13 and the Da Vinci room with my husband, mother in law, and brother in law (who has special needs). We had a great time in both rooms. the Apollo 13 room was easier and we finished relatively quickly, and it was more of a guided experience with puzzles than a typical escape rooms. We then played the Da Vinci room, which had more puzzles and was a bit more challenging. The staff was helpful and friendly and we had a good time. read more

First of all, the staff lady had horrible attitude from the start. We did the Alamo one and we used the rope to pull the cannon for the third time thinking it would help but then that bad attitude staff lady came in and took the rope away! Second, there was a life or death phone call that needed to be taken care of but then that same lady said "We have cameras you know and we would usually kick you all out" so she kicked my mom out and she came back later. Third, there was one cabinet in there that we were focusing on half of the escape room only to find out after the room that it wasn't part of the game and some previous group had torn a 'Not part of the game' sticker off. That made me very frustrated. Overall please do not come here. The staff are incredibly rude and the whole experience is just terrible. read more

Really nice location, better than the sister store in humble. The room was fun. We did the davincii code room. Everything was nice except the lady who was letting us into the room. She seemed to have a major attitude and was rushing all of us. I have done these rooms before and I had gone to the bathroom before, she didn't even wait on me to explain any rules and had left by the time I was out of the restroom. Saturday June 26th, 2021 (8:15 reservation) My plan was to leave a 4 star review because our room attendant, Alia, could not seem to explain why we failed our room when the numbers we input into the computer for the final puzzle were technically correct. Otherwise the Apollo 13 room is a fairly decent beginner room. However, as we left and were talking outside (trying to figure out what went wrong) the "owner" (according to him) came out and began to condescendingly explain that you basically can't touch the keys on the computer AT ALL aside from the numbers you need to punch in (using ONLY the numbers at the top, not the 10 key - free hint) or you lose the game. I mentioned that they may want to mention that to customers for the future, and he said they "don't have to." My boyfriend then tried to speak and the "owner" spoke over him, which frustrated my boyfriend, but none of the 4 in our party at any point raised our voices or even really said anything negative, we didn't even so much as ask for our money back. The owner began to try to gaslight us, saying we were rude and had been talking over him "the whole time" - I decided we weren't getting anywhere so said "let's just go" we started to walk away and he called after us "go fuck yourself." I walked back over and confronted him about that, letting the other patrons know that that is how he treats customers, he got in my face, accused me of saying it first (I had not even come close) and threatened to have me "escorted from the property." He probably would have hit me if there hadn't been so many witnesses, that's how aggressive this guy was, because we hadn't enjoyed the room, I guess? Remember, we didn't even ask for our money back. TLDR: Save your money. The "owner" (if he actually is the owner) is a psychopath and the Humble location is nicer anyway. Go there instead. read more

The manager is a Hispanic woman and she is extremely rude! She busted into our room before the timer was up to tell us how terrible we were at the game and we're the worst team she's ever had since we couldn't crack the code. I had bought three tickets online for me and my friends. When we got there they told us that we had to have someone atleast someone 18 come with us bc they had alcoholic. Maybe just don't serve alcohol to people trying to use their brain to escape. read more

Came in to do the Apollo 13 room. I'll give you a hint now: don't touch the keyboard and only use the numbers on top of it. If you touch any other keys on that keyboard, you failed the room. Our team was doing everything right until the end and when we were trying to figure out how we went wrong, the girl in charge of our room couldn't really explain what we did wrong when we were putting in the numbers correctly. We asked another team member what her name was before we left and then went outside. We were frustrated because we could not figure out what we were doing wrong at all and no one seemed to know the answer. As we were standing outside the establishment, the owner (or so he says. don't know his name) came out to confront our frustrations. He then spoke condescendingly to us and was arguing with us as we tried to figure out what we did wrong. When I went to speak he spoke over me and I said "oh I guess I don't get to talk then" and he then raised his voice and told me I had been interrupting him the entire time (I hadn't spoken once up to that point) and told me that I had been being rude to him. At this point the 4 of us got angry and tried to walk away, letting him know we would be living a review to which he replied "I look forward to it" and as we were walking away called after us "Go fuck yourself" before turning back to go inside. My girlfriend chased after him furious and telling the group of bystanders "This is how he treats his guests save your money" to which he replied by coming out, towering over her, getting in her face threateningly and telling her he's gonna have us "escorted off the property." We were frustrated but we didn't escalate anything. This owner guy comes out, condescendingly tells us, kinda half assed, what we did wrong (I honestly still have no idea how we messed up. Truly) and then said we were basically rude for being frustrated and told us to go fuck ourselves. The location in Humble is so amazing that we were expecting the same service here but I will never come back and I urge you to save your money and go elsewhere. The fact that the owner thought it was okay to curse at customers, threaten a woman and make us out to be aggressors in this situation is, pardon my language, bullshit. This entire experience was a waste of money but instead of asking for my money back, I just left and he came outside to confront us. All in all a terrible experience. Keep an eye out because I'm sure he'll come on to tell the "real" story from his perspective. read more

Our game host was very rude and didn't seem to care about our experience. When we got stuck the hints were not helpful and we were not given more than 3. So we were literally stuck doing nothing for a good amount of our time. Compared to any other escape room company, Escape It has by far been the worst. The game was also almost completely padlocks. Great location. Ladies at the front counter greeted us with friendly faces. We took our kids and their friends there to do The Davinci Room. Only the second time I have ever done an escape room and we had a blast! I'd highly recommend this for family fun and team building. We will definitely be back to try out the other rooms! read more
