Escape in Time is a first rate escape room. Their very first escape room was "Sherlock vs. the Illuminati." Sherlock allows himself to be kidnapped to expose the Illuminati. It's in Spring, Texas which is in the Houston area near Woodland Hills. My husband and I were excited to test it out, and while we usually attempt escape rooms with at least four people, we tried this one with just two. I'm happy to say we escaped with ten minutes to spare, with a little help from our Game Master, Watson. The room has several kinds of puzzles to solve, including Sherlock's favorite--a cypher. As a Sherlock fan, the escape room was a blast, and I would highly recommend it, if you're in the area. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner/designer Dave Garrison and he's a fun character, as well, and so clever with his designs. LOVE. LOVE. LOVED it. I have been wanting to do an official escape room for so long after doing a mobile one in college years ago. I took my fiancé who has never been to one. I should have done a reservation but luckily they had ONE walk in available which was THE CABIN. It was terrifyingly suspenseful to look for the clues as the "collector" does come around and it was just the two of us. The clues are super challenging but the game master does a wonderful job of helping you out the best as they can (hopefully you're not like us and completely struggle even with hints) but as you progress through the game and the clues start to click, it becomes really fun. I do wish the timer was a little more suspenseful to create the urgency of getting out, BUT the cabin was already so creepy that I do not think I would have been able to think clearly if it was . We both enjoyed the game and we will definitely be back for another room! Highly recommended and also recommend making an appointment as they typically to not have all rooms available for a walk in. I booked for what i thought was woodlands location but it wasn't opened yet. Previously we had done the cabin and were not ok with the worn puzzles years ago. We vowed never to go again due to room and guide being fairly rude. So i did not plan on going to the spring location ever again. But here we are, we arrived and the guide said he would set up the room and came back and said he's trying to fix the room since something wasn't working. We finally got in and started the puzzles it wasn't very intuitive and things had to be reset at one point and other things were open that shouldn't have been. It was a hot mess. Again a very worm room. The guide was nice but not a place that i will ho to again. Next time i will shell out the admission for four people and have a better experience. This is our second time here and that's because we had a great time the first time. We did the Sherlock Holmes, and my boyfriend and I escaped. We had a great time and we thought the room was very well thought of. We actually felt like we were in a mysterious situation and needing to get out of there. Our escape master also helped us enjoy our time there. I can tell he was paying attention to which puzzles each of us were working on, and typed out the clues we needed as organized as it can be. Sadly, our second time was the opposite. I believe Sherlock Holmes had 3/5 diffuculty while this one was only 2/5 different. We did The Cabin. We still escaped, but did we have fun? Not really. We still had 9mins left on the clock when we unlocked the last puzzle, but boy it was shameful lol. I thought the concept was really fun -- especially the first room. I don't want to disclose too much of the room, but it was dark dark, and you have to find the flashlight as part of the game. What was upsetting about this room is this is supposed to be played between 2-6 players AND ONLY HAS ONE FLASHLIGHT THE ENTIRE GAME. The game master made it even more of horrible experience. He did not have any idea which puzzles we were working on. And instead of typing organized clues out, it felt more like we were having a conversation with him through the overhead and DID NOT feel like an escape room at all. There was a lot of misunderstanding between conversations and telling us "No, that doesn't go there!". I was looking for more of a mysterious room experience rather than just trying to get out of the room. It was chaotic. We love going to escape rooms and I wish we can get a re-run and get better experience. read more

Very little interaction, guidance and/or enthusiasm from our "Wizard". We all stood there not knowing how to start. We did The Cabin and this time we did not have a good experience! The riddles were kind of difficult for younger kids. The Walkie-Talkie did not work real well and there was a lot of confusion in the end. The exit opened up even though it wasn't supposed to. We did not know if this was the end or not. One of the employees told us to go back in and he helped to solve the rest of the puzzle. Definitely not worth $104!! read more

We had a great experience! The place is cleverly laid out. The Sherlock Holmes game was super fun; it was a little harder than expected (it was my son's birthday party for 9-12 yr olds) but we did escape with the clues and facilitator's help. ( I had asked which game is more appropriate for the ages and they recommended Sherlock.) I don't want to spoil any surprises by saying anything specific... just be prepared to get creative and think outside of the box. The staff was extremely accommodating and the kids just loved it. My family and I visited over Thanksgiving weekend. We were hopeful as the online reviews were good. I will say the staff who greeted us was nice and they offered us a lower price if we paid in cash than we could get using a Groupon. My teens were excited to try the cabin and have a spooky experience. The concept was good but the execution lacked a bit. I won't give away any story or clues, but I will say the room(s) need serious repairs/updates. The first space we entered was pitch black and when my two sons were looking along the walls for clues a large board about 5-6 feet long came off the wall like it was part of the experience, except it had large nails poking though it. With 7 people in the room and in the dark this could have ended very badly. Then at the end we ran out of time and the guide came in to show us how we could have finished, except the puzzles were broken. He attempted to make them work and gave up after 5-7 min. The guide informed us that they new the wall panel was loose and say it on their surveillance so why they didn't stop the game to get it out and keep us safe was beyond me. He also said that they knew that a number of clues and puzzles in the room we're not working. So overall the location was clean, the staff was friendly, the concept of "The Cabin" had promise, but because the execution was poor and the staff knew the room was broken and dangerous we had to take stars off. If we are in the Woodlands again and IF they fix/upgrade we would consider trying again. read more

I booked an escape room for a family gathering. I was notified when I arrived that another group had booked the same room at the same time. Since they arrived first, the other group was able to continue with their booking while we were turned away. I am very disappointed because the staff had well over 8 hours to notify us and they did not. We had driven over 30 minutes and this was the event we were looking forward to for this entire weekend. The kids were upset, our entire night is ruined. We are avid escape room participants and We will not be back. Showed up a few minutes late to a lot of attitude from the young thin male employee. I realize showing up late is inconvenient and annoying but we are still the customer who is paying for the positive experience. After the initial attitude we were told the a/c is out and even though the reservations were several weeks old they decided it wasn't important to inform us ahead of time that the a/c was not working in the building. They did have working portable a/c unit but we were told to leave it off because it would negatively effect the group next door. It was so hot and miserable that I could barely think. The quality of the room and staging was dirty, damaged, and very cheap. So much of the staging room had items marked that it's not part of the game. The employee than told us we were doing it wrong when we accidentally moved ahead. Why would it not be okay to accidentally move forward. He also reduced our time by a few minutes when he thought we weren't looking. He was again very rude as we left. Worst time ever and we deserve to get our money back for such a terrible experience. I've done this twice before at other escape rooms and I know there are much better options to choose from. No way the 5 star reviews are real because it was that bad. Showed up for a 10:30 am booking on a Saturday but the door was locked when we arrived 15 minutes early. My wife called in at 10:15 and a man answered saying that someone would be there in 20 minutes. This was our first Escape game, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a combination of Birthday kids, coupled with adults. The manager/owner adjusted the game for the age group, which was a good idea because every one of the kids was engaged for the complete hour. I was amazed just at that alone. The game is intensely challenging and I didn't realize that there were so many FUN puzzles to solve. Working as a team, some people worked on the type of challenges they excelled at, while others worked on other types. In the end, we learned to come together as a team and it was so interesting to observe the kids bolster their confidence level. This was okay. I've done a few escape rooms, and they're usually pretty good. My group was set to do the Art Heist. It was more expensive than the other ten person room, but that was alright because it was more hard. My group waited in the lobby and we were told that the person who ran the room had not shown up. So we had to do Sherlock versus the Illuminati. There was nothing the company could have done to expect their employee not to show up--I am not giving them two stars for that. The room did not have enough puzzles for everyone to work on so a few people just stood around, while others solved the puzzles. The puzzles just weren't of good quality or quantity. If you have less people, Sherlock versus the Illuminati may be a fun room, I just don't recommend bringing ten people. There was also a hiccup where the puzzle didn't actually work, so we were wasting valuable time. Anyhow, I would give Sherlock versus the Illuminati a 5/10 read more
