This place hasn't been reviewed in years so I figured I'd give it a shot. I've done 10+ escape rooms over the years in multiple cities, big and small. TLDR; save your money. Go to Trapped. Not to bury the lead but, I'd rather just wait for availability at Trapped. Only chose this place because Trapped was booked for the time slots I wanted. It's located in a big plaza with a mall, with decent decorations and the locks were reliable. That's about the end of my positive feedback. I did Elm St escape room with 4people(max is 6). You can choose story(infinite clues) or challenge mode(3 clues)- (which has a 0% success rate- let me tell you why). Because story mode also likely has a 0%success rate. By no fault of the players I suspect. Their intro is underwhelming, stating no clues will be above your shoulders or below your knees. Meanwhile, one of the first "clue" was hidden well above average shoulder height. The people who work here think quite highly of themselves and of their rooms. Their hints throughout the game are condescending and just barely helpful. At the end of most escape rooms I've done, the game master will typically explain how to solve the room or at the least, the current puzzle you are stuck on. We were specifically told the puzzle we were on basically needed a hint in order to complete (facepalm) and refused to solve it for us, stating we should return and try again, and pay the full cost again. But that we had completed about 80% of the rooms puzzles. Basically treated us like sore losers and tried to advertise their other rooms to us on the way out. There is no timer in the room to keep track of elapsed time. One of our clues took several minutes to arrive in the room which seems like a waste of our elapsed time. Additionally, all of your belongings including watches are confiscated and put into a locker to which the workers keep the keys. They even opened the wrong locker when we were done and nearly gave us other people's stuff. They also took our picture with his personal cell phone. (TBD on what that purpose was, will it be emailed to us later?. Or just used for marketing?) I've definitely done escape rooms where we haven't completed the challenge but still left feeling somewhat accomplished. That was not the case for this escape room establishment. Won't be back. The host was rude to start, we arrived 20 minutes early and still weren't able to start the game until 30 minutes after our scheduled time. Once our time was up we were rushed out of the facility. I don't recommend this place, there are so many more out there with way better service. read more

The owner/manager has an unwarranted high opinion of this place. He spent at least 5 minutes telling us how great the experience was. If he's a professional magician, I'm the President. The execution was amateur. Many puzzles were broken or did not work as intended e.g. a trap door opening when it was not meant to, correctly positioning a mirror for us because the pencil line had "rubbed off". I didn't like having a member of staff in the room with us. He was condescending when we asked for a clue and generally sucked the life out of the experience. There are tiny notes that say "Do not touch" beside one object; we were berated several times for not magically knowing that this referred to the whole shelf. I'll not be back. read more

This was the 11th escape room we've done and I was not impressed. First of all when I called to make the reservation apparently it was never added to the schedule which caused some drama when we arrived. The game master stood in the room with us as we played which was creepy and was resetting the game as we unlocked stuff which made it very confusing what we had done and what was left. Most of the clues were fine. The locks were warn down and hard to open. I wish the rooms weren't all available from the get go. read more

We went here to celebrate my brother's birthday. We had a group of 9 adults just to have a fun day out. It was pretty fun and the puzzles were creative. Unfortunately, a girl that was in our group accidentally knocked over a dragon skull and it broke on the ground. The co-owner started yelling at her about how she was going to pay for it. I don't know her, but she was very kind and said that she would be willing to pay for it. Our time ended before we finished the game (which seemed like they cut a little short). They wouldn't show us how to complete the game (which I believe that most escape rooms show you how to solve them). We tried to confront the owner about paying for the broken skull, but he refuses to meet us and said that he would call us later. We found a similar decoration online for about $50 - we paid $270 for all 9 participants in the game. Overall, it was fun and made for a good story, but the situation was handled very unprofessionally and I felt bad for that girl. read more

This was the 11th Escape Room I've done and it was the worst one I've ever experienced. It started out with having a hard time finding the place, but that was Google Maps problem and is not factored into this review. Then our game master was in training so there were two people walking us through and giving clues, ok, whatever. It was only after our time started that I realized they would be staying with us for the entire time. I hated it. The entire purpose of an escape room is an EXPERIENCE. Having two employees talking, laughing, entering and exiting was so distracting and irritating. Then the puzzles were absolutely unsolvable without their help, another extremely frustrating factor. Again, this was not my first rodeo. I've escaped every single escape room I've done and it's to the point where I usually ask the game master not to give me any clues unless I specifically ask. In this room it wasn't long before I had a small pile of random objects collected that I had no idea what to do with. When I asked for a clue he said, "with which puzzle?" I literally didn't even know how to respond to this, since usually there is a flow in an escape room. One puzzle leads you to the next. I was off track and needed some direction...when I pointed to one (with a very obvious answer that I knew I could find once I found all the pieces) he explained the puzzle fully to me....without actually helping me know what step to take next. Two of the locks were not functioning even with the correct combinations. Several of the puzzles involved adding numbers without ever being told you would need to do that. It was just a mess. I'm new to Toledo, and this was my first escape room here. I'm so disappointed. read more

Not sure where to start this train wreck of an experience. My husband and I have done 20 other escape rooms and this was by far the worst experience, ever. We booked the Houdini room at 4:30 and arrived early like we were supposed to. When we got there they said there was another couple in our room (our worst fears) well as it turned out there were two other couples supposed to be in our room. They take us back at 4:30 and go through all the details of the game, the locks, and the basic rules. As we were getting ready to go into the room here shows up the last couple. So guess what we had to start all over again because they were late. And it went downhill from there. As we start our game we come across a clue and the late lady is like "give me that, I worked in the post office" if I heard that statement once I heard it a 100 times. She was very obnoxious, had no clue what she was doing, was not a team player, and flat out crazy. At 7 minutes in I told my husband I was ready to leave. At this particular escape room the game master is in the room with you. I think he knew the other four of us were irritated. As we're trying to work the puzzles she is just loudly saying she'll do it and let her have it. At one point I threw the clue down and said fine. She spent like 20 minutes on it and argued with the game master. Fast forward to another clue where she told him how many cards there were. He said no there is only so many in this one. How in the world are you going to argue with the game master? I think he knows the game. She later on is like I need water and walks out. Thankfully we escaped in the nick of time but it was the worst game we have done. Upon completion I walk out and was like that was terrible. The lady at the counter was like what happened, so I told her. And I'm thinking the game master may have relayed the issues too. She was like oh she's crazy. And at one point said she worked at the post office...it doesn't matter what your job is the puzzles are just that puzzles. No logic will really help because there's always tricks. Here comes this lady and she is now crying at the front desk something about "I'm sorry about the fundage, it's embarrassing not having money" but her next sentence was I have to go get my nails done. To me it seemed like she was a friend or relative of the person working the front desk and she played for free, and was late at that. They ended up giving us and the other couple a voucher to come back and play again but I seriously have reservations about going back. I dislike rooms that don't block off once you've booked. We've done rooms that may be $29 if it's two people or $24 if you book more. I get you want to maximize your dollars but people don't want to book with strangers who may or may not be crazy. I will play my free game but will not go back to complete the other rooms. Go somewhere else, consider yourself warned. read more

I LOVE this place!! So much fun! It bring you into a different world. Best thing to do for a date night or w a group.

We booked and arrived early. Upon arrival we were told they double booked and sorry but we could either go another time, she would book us another game which didn't get a discount other than the difference, or leave. The people who "double booked" had cancelled their order and their card didn't go through... the owner said sorry but she wouldn't be able to help otherwise. We had a receipt and had already paid- we took her up on the full refund! I do not recommend planning an entire night to just be let down! I will NEVER go back! read more

It was confusing at first because I was thinking it would involve forensic type clues - once I got the gist of it, it made more sense. It was fun and the kids figured out the puzzles before us adults did! We had help and he was wonderful! Will go back again! read more

I'm angry I even have to give them 1 star. The game master went into the room with our group of 11 girls. I was watching them on the screen. He came out of the room, didn't see me, and said "If my kids were that stupid, I'd disown them." To say I was furious was an understatement. I had to walk out for a few minutes to calm myself down before I could even confront them. When I walked back in and told the owner what was said (even though she was sitting right there but claimed she didn't hear him), she went and got him so I could talk to him. His immediate response was that he wasn't talking about my group, he was talking about a group of boys (who were about 12 and their mom was with them). He tried to justify his comment by saying the boys were touching things they shouldn't have been and had broken something he'd already fixed 4 times. His comment was very unprofessional and unkind, regardless of who he was speaking about, and at no point in our conversation did he ever understand this. He just kept trying to get me to see his point. I explained to him that there was no explanation or excuse he could give me that would justify his comment. The owner came back out, apologized, then followed the apology up with "I'm not trying to make excuses, but....." then proceeded to give me poor excuses like, "it was a joke" (when it clearly wasn't) and "he's been here since 1:30 with a lot of big stressful groups" (it was only 7:15 and if you can't handle your job, quit). If you are with a group, especially with preteen/teens in it, I would highly recommend finding another escape room. No one deserves to be talked about the way this man talked about someone.
