After I signed the proposal and paid a deposit, things went downhill fast…read more The written proposal clearly stated two coats (stain + sealant). But when the crew arrived, they said they would only apply one coat using a 2-in-1 product. That's a big reduction in both labor and materials, so I asked for a revised price. I was told the owner wrote the proposal incorrectly -- but the price would stay the same. No call from the owner to explain. The crew just left, and I had to chase them down myself to get my deposit refunded. Felt like a classic bait-and-switch. Buyer beware.

We used Carlos of Longhorn Painting & Drywall to paint the interior of our new house. Overall they…read moredid ok but did not tend to the details well at all. They left a lot of trash behind on several occasions. They put paper over our sub zero refrigerator vent and left it there overnight almost breaking the refrigerator. But the most frustrating thing is that we made the mistake of paying them before the job was completed. We found some areas missed and asked Carlos that they return and he agreed but subsequently didn't show up and stopped answering our calls and texts. After a $10K job we were very upset that Longhorn Painting left us high and dry on finishing the job "right" because they had our $ in their pocket. And we are not talking about a lot of follow-up work. Just a few hours of touch-up.

I am thrilled that we chose DGP Painting for our interior house painting and wallpaper install!…read moreThis was my first time requesting an interior paint project, and I knew they were the right company for the job when the project manager (Stephen - who worked on our quote) saw around corners and asked questions I hadn't thought of myself. The job took about 5 days, and Armando, the painter, knocked it out of the park with the quality of work done, which included drywall/baseboard repair, corner guard removal, paint and a wallpaper install. All was done exactly as we requested, all of our items and floors were covered securely, and they left the house very clean upon job completion. We WILL be calling DGP again when we're ready to paint our upstairs walls! Thank you DGP, Armando, Stephen, and Eddie for your support on our project!

My experience with DGP painters was extremely frustrating and disappointing. They prolonged this…read moreproject significantly because they were not putting in the required time or manpower. They had 19 days to paint 4,000 square feet without interruption but could not get it done. In the end, it took 26 days and they caused me significant unnecessary stress, and left problems that I will have to pay someone else to fix. However, I would rather pay someone else than allow them back into my house. In fact, I believe that they lied by telling me multiple times that they were working towards making various deadlines, then making almost no effort to meet those deadlines and not acknowledging their passing. They consistently blamed whomever they could for their lack of progress, even when they had ample opportunities to complete their work without interruption from others. They did not take accountability at any point. When we have discussed delays, Stephen and Archie frequently cite interruption from the other contractors. Other than a mold remediator, whose work could not be paused due to safety issues, I did not allow the other contractors into the house until 19 days after the start of the project, which was far after both their initial and subsequent estimates for when they would be done. Similarly, I have repeatedly communicated to Archie and Stephen that I did not expect them to complete the work in the areas that have been quarantined by mold remediation before our move-in date. That means that I was expecting them to paint less of the house than we initially had talked about, which should have taken them less time. I also communicated with Stephen about when I have intended to have the other contractors start ahead of time. I have visited the job site nearly every day since before the start of the project, sometimes multiple times a day because it is close to my work. I have seen what areas have progressed and what areas have not. I have communicated with my contractors frequently. At no point has DGP taken responsibility for the delays. DGP has been incredibly frustrating to work with. I have tried to be patient and polite, but they have made that extremely challenging. I hope that sharing my experience can help others avoid DGP painters. I have outlined our conversations in a google doc to explain why I have drawn these conclusions because my initial review significantly exceeded the character count for Yelp. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YBXpGzUrLDE9EKrultvriv-hMcBffOqt2YF_F41A60I/edit?usp=sharing

I really like John Trevino, the owner and operator of JET Quality Drywall. He's an honest,…read morehardworking guy who cares about doing the job up to the customer's expectations. He helped me and Jonathan W. complete some drywall repair and painting that had to get done in a hurry, and I'm pleased with the results. John worked on our drywall with his nephews Andrew and Jonathan, who were friendly and nice but not as meticulous as John. But all we had to do was point out problem areas and John made sure we were satisfied. John took the time to explain technique, too, which was helpful since my husband has done and will continue to do repair jobs as we remodel our house. John even offered to come back out and help train us on how to spray wall texture. I don't think it's JETs standard protocol, but John and my husband painted the kitchen together, which I thought was cool. Again, it gave my husband a chance to get the benefit some professional experience, and it made the job go faster. John was also able to get good paint at a lower price than what Pittsburg Paints offers to the public, too. Our loft area proved too daunting, since we didn't have any scaffolding, so we called JET again. We'd already taped and floated the ceiling when we removed the acoustic texture, and my husband had corrected some of the popped seams on the walls, but the highest areas still needed repair, and the whole room needed paint. My husband wasn't able to be home for the first day when they were re-taping and floating some areas. When I got home, I was really upset. It just wasn't the same quality we'd gotten from them before, so my husband called John and explained our concerns. The next day, they walked through the area together and John agreed to correct the issues we had. Though it took an extra day, he was able to make things right. We would have had a tough time doing such a good job (especially on the 20 foot high areas) ourselves. John's prices are very reasonable, and I think he's a trustworthy person to have working in your home. Though we had one disappointment, John made sure the final product was satisfactory. I would call him again.

Honey will you call around this week and find someone to fix that hole in our bathroom?…read more (2 weeks later) Hey hon, did you find someone to fix the drywall? (oh yes dear, called around, one guy is suppose to call me back) (2 weeks later) Did the drywall guy call back? (oops forgot, no he hasn't) (1 week later) Honey will you please make it a point to have someone scheduled to at least come by to give us an estimate on the dry wall by the end of the week? and possibly fix it before my parents come? (oh yes, of course dear) (end of week rolls around) *in an annoyed voice* So you didn't complete the one task I asked you to complete? (I guess this was a dumb question, since that dreaded hole in the wall was still staring me in the face.) I learned my lesson. Ladies out there, if you want something done, do it yourself. Don't ask your man to do it..it seems they don't understand what "getting things done" mean. It doesn't mean after the football game is over, it doesn't mean after they get to the next achievement level of god knows what shoot 'em up Xbox game is IN these days, and it certainly doesn't mean 2 months later. I called JET (John Trevino) on a Saturday afternoon, after yelping "drywall repair". I read Jill's review and was sold. After all she had JET listed in her "House Remodeling List" and well..I'm kind of starting that process. John agreed to show up and take a look at the damage later that same day. Maybe hubby just picked out duds when he called around. Maybe these duds really never returned calls or called back when they said they would, but John certainly wasn't a dud. He gave me a specific time window of when he would arrive and stuck to it. So for one, this guy is punctual. Calls me back when he says he will call me back. Arrives when he says he will arrive. Calls me if he is running late. Seems like a pretty simple trait that everyone should have, but unfortunately that hasn't been our experience with other contractors as of late. The price was reasonable, no surprise added costs at the end, the work was professional and completed on time as scheduled. On top of that John and his helper (brother, cousin?) were very nice, easy to talk to, and just overall I got that "he seems like a good guy" type of vibe, which is good considering I'm going to need more help around the house. My walls are bare. I've got a fever, a fever for more color. The only remedy now is more JET Painting.
