A superb job, in record time, at a reasonable price. Four out of the 8 posts supporting my elevated deck showed evidence of rot at ground level. One half of my deck is enclosed by a sun room addition, and I did not want to risk having it collapse while bottle jacks were being used to support it as posts were being removed and replaced via the standard method to solve the problem. ES Construction of Falls Church repaired all 4 affected posts by excavating around them not only to expose the existing concrete footers, but digging down to a depth of at least a foot. They then enclosed the rotted posts on all four sides with 2 inch-thick pressure-treated lumber that rests on the concrete footers and fits tightly against the overhead deck support beam, thus transferring the weight of the deck from the damaged posts to the 4-sided 2 inch-thick cladding. To ensure absolute rigidity, ES Construction then filled the enlarged excavation around the posts completely with concrete to just below ground level, thus allowing the fresh concrete to fill any holes and gaps in the rotted posts as well as enlarging the existing footers. The project was completed, and I kept track of the time, in about 7 hours, split between two days, to allow the concrete to set, at a very reasonable price, and exactly the way I wanted it I could not be happier with the result and I highly recommend Eugene and his team for any deck construction or repair job. read more

It is a pleasure to write this review, as Eugene and crew are not only fine craftsmen and really good at what they do, but also very really good and hard-working people. We hired ES Construction to replace an 18-foot-long wooden fence and to paint our patio wall. We asked them to match the style and materials of the old fence -- which they did, and even improved on, by making the posts larger and more solid. Building the fence turned out to be a lot harder and more time-consuming than anticipated, since the old fence was anchored much deeper in concrete than could be seen from the surface. That required quite a bit of jackhammering and hours of hard work. They did it uncomplainingly and didn't charge extra (though I gladly paid them extra). The result was a fence that's rock-solid and looks to last for many years. It was exactly what I wanted. The patio wall ended up requiring two coats of paint rather than the one coat we expected. They did not want to leave the job looking less than 100% and applied the second coat without extra charge. They do a variety of construction and repair jobs, among them fences, decks, drywall and painting. I would not hesitate to hire ES for any of them. read more

After seeing the great reviews on Yelp I reached out for a consultation on my deck during the last week of April. We communicated a little via Yelp and after response slowed via Yelp I tried calling. The gentleman on the phone sounded friendly and interested in the work. I was told that his partner would go look at it on May 6. and they'll get back to me with the consultation/estimate. I called on May 9 to get an estimate and was told that his partner did go to the property & he would get the estimate from his partner and get back to me. I received no info. I send a text on May 19 reminding him for the estimate. I get a response today on May 23 saying "I'm not able to help you. Sorry" with no explanation. Very very unprofessional and I wasted a lot of time. I could have my deck replaced by another company during the almost 4 weeks I spent communicating with this company to obtain an estimate.
