This place is one of those nice crowd-pleaser places with a pleasant atmosphere and a big menu with pizzas, burgers, pasta, risottos, all-day breakfast, etc. They have a range of vegetarian options and also have clearly-marked vegan and gluten-free options on their menu. It's not all about eating here, either -- it's perfectly normal to just come here with a big group for some drinks. They have an extensive cocktail, wine and beer selection. Their vegan options for dinner are the Lemongrass & Coconut Curry and the Ancient Grains Salad. Both sounded delicious but it was a cold, wintery night so I went with the warm curry, and I'm so glad I did. The flavours were interesting and pretty exotic for what we initially assumed was a meat-potatoes-and-pasta kind of venue! The curry was basically quinoa, potato, cauliflower, chickpeas, carrots, and greens in a nice light curry sauce with pita bread and half a lime. The lime was a good idea -- squeezing it over the meal definitely improved the flavour. I also had an alcoholic ginger beer that was delicious. I went with a relatively large group (maybe ten or so of us), and kind of late at night on a Friday after drinks. This place is great for large groups -- the service was fast and efficient, and the food came out quickly given the size of our group and at such a late hour. The venue's spacious as well, so we didn't feel cramped. I was the only vegan -- the others in the group almost unanimously went for burgers and pizza -- but everyone looked at my meal jealously and asked me what it was! And my partner (who got the regular burger) tried my vegan curry and liked it better than his burger. I had to fight him off because he kept snitching food off my plate. Vegan meal for the win! Price-wise, everything seemed reasonable, basically in the $17-24 range for mains, which is in line with this type of place (part gastro-pub, part Italian restaurant, part brunch cafe). I'd like to go back and try their vegan breakfast options on a weekend morning. The interior is stylish and brightly lit. Our waiter was a little brusque, but the cashier lady was super nice. Huge cafe in North Melbourne. Outdoor seatings, booth seatings inside and lots of tables. Errol also has private functions area upstairs that looks really nice. I've been here a couple of times now for lunch. It has a big menu that would please lots of people. I was told the steak sandwich here is great. I've personally found the menu to be just average. There's lots of usual items like soup of the day, calamari, risotto, pasta etc . The pastry cabinet looks good but I haven't tried any. Good for big groups. read more

Visited this cafe in North Melbourne and walked into dessert heaven, they make all their cakes and pastries in house. Highly recommend the baked New York berry cheesecake which was not too sweet and had a delicate berry flavour with some very yummy strawberries on the side, why do strawberries in Victoria taste better then in Qld? Climate maybe but they were sooo good, now back to the cheesecake, the serving was very generous. The coffee was dark and rich and Devine, this is a coffee that sends you to the loo, not because it's bad but because of the richness or maybe my body just is not accustomed to good caffeine. It was lovely to sit and watch the variety of passing locals and what I love about Melbourne suburbs is the unique sense of each person. read more

Errol's make really good coffee. That's about all I credit them for. Their food is completely forgettable, so my only staple order there is the toasted egg and bacon sandwich, which is generous and hits the spot, particularly on a hang over. And really, how can you get an egg and bacon sandwich wrong? The service at Errol's is often strangely rude. It's clearly a family business, so the waiters and barristers seem to treat their patrons like family members, which is to say... with an excess of attitude. For some reason, whenever I order there, I feel like I should be apologising for something. Or like I'm taking a secret intelligence test and "soy flat white" is the wrong answer. In any case, their coffee is good enough to keep me coming back, so I can handle the fact that the staff are never going to invite me around to watch Disney movies and plait each others' hair. I went to Errol's for a Christmas Party breakfast with my fellow night shift workers. Sadly the menu from which we were able to choose from was very limited. It included fruit juice & tea & filter coffee but for $22 the meal of poached egg on toast with bacon was a little disappointing and I think they could have stretched to providing a decent cup of coffee over the filter rubbish. Having come straight from a night shift to the venue a nice cup of coffee would have gone down a treat but I did not feel inclined to spend an extra $4-5 on a separate coffee order. On a quiet Saturday morning before hitting the beach we stop at Errol's Cafe for a hearty breakfast. All the normal classic fairs are available alongside a few more interesting choices. Like I said earlier we were after something hearty so for me only Errol's Big Breakfast would do. My friend, on the other hand, had a list of requests that rivals Sally's on When Harry Met Sally. Unlike the rest of us, the waiter had all confidence that each one of her request would be fulfilled, and he even said so with a smile. True to his word my friend's custom made brekkie came out perfectly, along with my fried eggs, bacon, tomato, sausage, mushroom and a hash brown with toast. Oh yeah, it was big alright, and tasty. Any place that can take orders like the ones we served them and come back with exactly what we wanted has got to be ok in my books. read more

So this place has been renovated since my last visit, and I'm very impressed. I tried the wagyu burger and it was tasty, mouth watering and messy in a good way. The decor is much more funky and the staff very friendly. I also grabbed s take away coffee on my way out, and the Barista's are a lot better than before. I come to Melbourne five or six times a year and always eat at Errol's at least once during every visit. Always a pleasant atmosphere and staff. This visit I just had pizza with the lot which was really nice with plenty of quality tasty toppings. Judging by the reviews I think Errol's is a bit underrated as it's general a meals are always really nice. The only reason I haven't given Errol's 5 stars is because of the cakes & pastries. I love desserts but they have NO TASTE. The selection is massive, they look mouthwatering, I think they are made fresh on the premises & I've tried just about all of them during my visits. This restaurant offers amazing coffee, and a wonderful range of fresh Mediterranean food as well as deliveries to your own home or venue. Their sweets are sensational and they also offer a reasonably priced function room upstairs- great for 21sts; Christmas parties etc. My recent overseas European visitors travelled all over Australia and found Errol's to be one of the best restaurants they came across, where they could enjoy a cold glass of excellent beer followed by a fabulous Turkish coffee and all reasonably priced in a very comfortable environment. read more

Went here for dinner last Friday and ate outside. Nice atmosphere, music was great (soft jazz). Staff were very friendly. I had the Crispy Skin Salmon and it was fantastic. Good serving size and presentation. Also tried the Coburg Lager on tap - highly recommend. read more
