One of my favorite places in Melbourne! I take out of Towners and locals here whenever I can or chill with a Vietnamese coffee on the tiny outdoor tables and watch the world go by. This place is seriously tiny and you would be forgiven for walking past and not noticing it. The food is simple but oh so good. Menus can be found in old recycled golden books - the kind you had as a child. They do a great coffee and have a few special add ons like a African spiced coffee or sweet and tasty Vietnamese coffee. I always try to grab a outdoor seat though the indoor tiny tables are nice and warm. If you finish lunch and feel like a beer they also can provide! Or better yet head up the stairs and discover hells bar!

Out of the numerous coffee dispensaries in the greatest Place in the Centre of town this is mine and comes highly recommended by not just me but a number of people I know as well. Everything about Jungle Juice is awesome. The menus that are made from Golden Books set the tone and bring back all sorts of nostalgia. As a bagel lover they give them all the respect that they deserve and fill them with quality ingredients and great combinations. The staff are the friendliest in the city and are well educated in the art of making coffee. It is very cosy inside if you can find a table and exciting if you are sitting on the block outside with all the traffic passing by.

    Hot chocolate!

Love this place. While so many cages in this area ooze pretension, this is a friendly place with great coffee and great food. Try it out!

I woke up Monday morning to an email asking if I'd like to "pop out to Happy Place this afternoon…read morefor a beetroot latte and a raw paleo cake." Who says no to such an offer? (Also: How positively Melbournian!) Upon arrival at this tiny shop on the outside of South Melbourne Market, I was immediately beguiled by the recherché menu. Gems from it include a shroom latte (medicinal mushroom powder, chicory root, dandelion, stevia, almond milk) and an 'I Love Oprah' smoothie featuring monga waratah, a shrub endemic to Australia that's purported to help one find inner strength. After a long peruse I ordered the Mexicano Cacao (raw cacao, cacao butter, chilli, black pepper extract, cayenne, coconut milk) for myself and a cup of the bone broth to share with my mates. The Mexicano Cacao was rich and nicely spicy. But the real winner was the wonderfully toothsome bone broth. I could easily drink a cup a day of this savory stuff. Happy Place isn't set up for hanging out, as there are no seats inside but it's a solid spot to grab a smoothie, hot drink or a light lunch (I loved the look of the seared ahi slices on offer in the salad case!).

I have two rather unexpected words for you: BONE BROTH. Who knew it could be so rich, filling and…read moredelicious? If you're feeling a bit bloated I highly recommend grabbing a cup of their $6 broth for lunch. You won't regret it. But Happy Place, owned by nutritionist Lola Berry and Salvatore of St Ali fame, is much more than just a good broth. Here you will find smoothies with Aboriginal leaves that can instil various feelings within you (think strength, wisdom, kindness), salads and proteins galore and lattes of all colours of the rainbow. I went for a turmeric latte, which warmed me up on a freezing June day, while my pals went for the Mexican Cacao, which was truly a standout (obviously I took a sip and then hogged it). It tasted a lot like a spicy hot chocolate. Absolute perfection in winter. While I didn't indulge, there were a variety of salads available for you to grab and go. Because Happy Place are good to Vegan folk, you add your protein separately - there are little cups of chicken, salmon and tofu available to add. While this is pretty much a takeaway place only (there are only a few built in bench seats available), it shouldn't stop you from popping by and grabbing a footpath bench to nosh down on your healthful goodies before you head into the market.

I love that they have so many tasty, healthy vegan options. Their nut mylks and juices are a little on the pricey side, but their lunches are very good value for money. You get two choices for $10 (the small size box) or three choices for $12 (the large size box), and the food itself is very filling. I rarely finish the large size box in a single sitting. It's not just greens, either -- you can choose from plenty of more hearty dishes like Asian noodles, quinoa/rice/grain salads, etc. They also have delicious desserts, both raw and regular desserts, and plenty of vegan and gluten-free options. I had a slice of their vegan blueberry cake and it was amazing. Staff has always been extremely friendly. Customer service here definitely seems to be a top priority. Atmosphere-wise, this place is pretty small and more of a take-away kind of place than anything else. Not much seating. If you're having trouble finding it, it's below the NAB and Medibank buildings just west of the pedestrian overpass from Southern Cross.

There is no coffee available here. None. Seriously a Melbourne cafe has opened sans coffee!…read more Great spot in ever changing docklands offering up organic choices. Think very hip now, paleo-organic-cold pressed etc. This place is all about loving yourself with food and not being afraid to spend the money. Everything is made on site. Which has it's pros and cons. Freshness is their top priority. Variety and availability not so much a priority and in the afternoons it's slim pickings for late lunches. One issue that's regularly heard around the venue is price. You are paying a hefty price to feel good about yourself How much does one spend on self confidence and bodily gratification? The juices and salads starting price point is $11. Which is considerable coin for a juice. Take into consideration that this place has been open for less then a week as the time of visiting. Maybe they will continue to develop and evolve as time goes on?
