I had a frustrating experience with Ernie's RV & Trailer Repair. I brought in my Class C RV because I wanted a proper inspection, specifically to have the brake pads checked. Another shop had already told me they couldn't lift the RV, which is exactly why I sought out a place that could handle a full inspection. When I scheduled the appointment, I clearly explained this situation and my expectations. The day after I dropped off the rig, I received a call saying the RV was ready and that nothing was wrong. I was charged about $280. When I arrived to pick it up, I asked for an inspection report or details on what was checked, and it became clear there was confusion. After asking directly what work had been done, I was told they had only performed an oil change. This was extremely frustrating because that was not what I brought the RV in for. I had been very clear that I needed a full inspection due to the previous shop not being able to lift it. They did offer for me to bring the RV back at another time, but when I asked about the cost for the inspection, I was quoted over $450 on top of the $280 I had already paid. This pricing was never discussed when I scheduled the appointment. Overall, my concerns are: -Lack of communication about pricing upfront. They need more transparency on their pricing and other reviews suggest the same -Not paying proper attention to the customer's request -Failing to perform the service that was requested There was no effort to offer a discount or solution to make up for the inconvenience. I wanted to give them a chance despite some pricing concerns posted on prior Yelp reviews, but unfortunately, my experience confirmed those issues. To be fair, the staff were friendly and professional. They are nice folks but, they need to work on some issues. In the future, I will be driving a few extra miles to get better and more competitive service. read more

I asked Ernie's to repack my RV trailer bearings, check the trailer brakes, and adjust the drop on my drop hitch. They said bring it in. Only after I brought my trailer in, they said it would be $861. Way more than I expected for about 2.5 hours of labor and $120 in parts but I had already towed my trailer there so I said ok. They said the trailer brake is fine but they did not measure and would not tell me how much brake I had left. The trailer hitch adjustment cost $159 just to loosen and tighten two bolts with an impact wrench while the hitch was still attached to my vehicle. I watched and they never once used a torque wrench or a vice. My chassis was the vice. Uhaul or any shade tree mechanic would have done better service for a fraction of the cost. They quoted me $7700 to fix the caulk and trim. Hard pass after seeing their quality of work and what they charge for basic services. read more

Great Work, But Be Prepared for High Costs We brought our 2007 Carri-Lite 5th wheel to Ernie's, Inc. for some major repairs. We had an extended warranty but knew it wouldn't cover everything -- and we weren't in a rush. Overall, we were happy with the experience, but it's important to go in with eyes wide open. What we liked: * Super friendly and professional staff from the first phone call * Clean, large, well-organized shop -- very reassuring * Estimates at every step so we could approve/decline work * They replaced both our black and grey tanks plus the electronic dump valves -- done right * No pressure when we declined certain items What to watch for: Prices are high -- labor is $225/hr, and parts are marked up (pretty typical in the RV world).Communication felt a little slow at times, but we told them we weren't in a hurry. Some quotes were eye-popping: * Battery cables: $603 * Smoke detector plus install: $100 * A/C maintenance: $600 * Roof caulking: $606 * Roof membrane replacement: $17,000 * Replace TV antenna cable: $261 We ended up declining many of the recommended repairs due to the high costs -- thankfully, my husband is very handy and was able to take care of most of them himself. For example, they quoted $17,000 to replace the roof membrane, but ours didn't actually need replacing. We repaired a few small cracks ourselves with Dicor self-leveling caulk and didn't even use half a tube. One thing to note: their estimate process can be a bit cumbersome. When they add new items, the updated estimate just gets longer -- in our case, it ended up being 17 pages. Even if you decline certain items, they remain listed, which can make it hard to track the dollar amount and what's actually approved and what's not. Bottom line: Ernie's is a great shop if you're not on a tight budget and want quality work from a professional team. Just be ready for the price tag and don't hesitate to do some repairs yourself if you can. read more

Took my 2023 Thor Motorcoach to Ernie's for a minor issue I thought might be happening. Ernie's diagnosed the possible water leak from the hot water heater (twice) and found nothing. Ernie's however gave me a laundry list of things they felt needed to be done on my RV. Some of these I did authorize but I felt the whole time they were just upselling me to get more money. Third time through, they claim to have found a leak. Hmmm... $2200 later and a month later, I got my RV back. My boiling point was when I was told every seal on my 2023 RV needed replaced (at a costs of another $4000). Ernie's failed to assess any issue with the generator even though that was one thing I told them about when I dropped it off. Generator wasn't starting up. A mobile tech came my home and diagnosed the carburetor is leaking gas and it's another costly repair needing done. But at least I believe this gentleman is being honest with his estimate. I strongly caution anyone from ever going to Ernie's as I do not believe they are in any way honest with customers and will take every opportunity to get someone to pay a lot more money for things that do not need done. read more

Bought a new tow vehicle, had to get the hitch and anti sway bars leveled out to the new rig. They gave me a time to be there, I showed up, they got right on it and I was out of there within an hour. Cost was a little less than expected so that was nice. The staff is always friendly and attentive to what I need. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've been to Ernie's and I'll definitely be back when I need service again. read more

Taking a trip from Los Angeles to Vancouver BC on our brand new Tiffin, RW 25 with the Mercedes chassis. We made it to Oregon before experiencing problems with the water pump & the batteries of the motorhome. I called a few places that was on our way, and no one wanted to help or to even look at the motorhome, I googled out all the RV repair facilities on our route and kept calling until I called Ernie's, I spoke to Amber the service writer and she took down my information Spoke to the technician and came back to tell me they would definitely try to help, she said I should stop by so they can look at the motorhome. After a few hours we got to Ernie's and within 15 minutes they had my motorhome inside with technicians, diagnosing the problem, they found a faulty water pump and sent someone to pick up a new one and bring it back so they can install it right away. I also asked them to replace the house batteries since we were also having issues with the batteries dying out. From the service writer, Amber To the technician and the owner himself Ernie, they were very pleasant to deal with and very professional. The following day we made it to Vancouver BC and when we got to our destination, the RV park had 2 feet of snow, and it was snowing while we pulled in, the following day we woke up and noticed, the fresh tank, the gray tank, and the black tank were completely frozen so none of our plumbing was working. I tried to turn on the tank heaters, they were not working, we also had no electricity in the motorhome, I called Ernie and we did a video chat, he had me walk around since I had no idea where everything was because I just bought this Motorhome and this was our first trip. He tried to help me to diagnose over the phone, but we were unsuccessful since the problem was more serious. He asked me to stop by on my way back so they can check that for us. Long story short, we cut our trip down to only a few days and drove back down to Washington and had Ernie's technician look at it, they found major wiring effective due to storage compartment not being sealed from the Factory and Water getting into the inverter and finally frying all the wires. I was given a choice to staying in a hotel so they can repair the wiring or to stop using the generator or any of the 110 V with in the motorhome and drive straight back so we could make it back home safely. We made it back couple of days later safely and now the motorhome is back where we purchased it from. I think that the service at Ernie's is impeccable, they are caring and they acquire really smart service technicians. I would highly recommend this repair facility to anyone. I just wish they were located in Los Angeles so I could use them for all the future services, It seems like we're going to need lots of it with this Motorhome. read more

This review is a bit different but it goes to show that they care about people even when it doesn't profit them. My fiancee and I were driving a rented moving truck trailing a car from Reno and somehow got stuck a little down the street from Ernie's. We were exhausted and at our wits end. My fiancee went to ask for directions, we were obviously lost (FYI: don't trust your GPS to turn in your Penske truck nearby, it's confusing). She arrived with some guys from Ernie's, one with a forklift with trailer hitch attached to come help us out. The gentleman who asked kindly if he could take over the wheel hopped in and drove our hot mess around like a pro. Both guys were very kind and helpful and honestly, I don't know if we could've gotten out of there without them. So to Ernie and his people, THANK YOU from the people in the Penske truck! Very good experience working with Ernie and staff repairing my Sprinter van; great communications, scheduling and skills. My first experience with the sop, and they gained my trust. Skilled with diesel and chassis work on 2011 MB Sprinter. I appreciated their thorough inspection, as well, as repairs. I found pricing to be fair for the professionalism and skills they provided. Be mindful to ask details of suggested repair work, as some items might be related work but not necessary - suggested work might be guess-tament based on the shop's past experience with similar issues. Well, I had high hopes of locating a place to take my rv to when in need of repairs or general maintenance. Fool me once Ernie, but never again. Overpriced much? 1. Oil Change: $99 for syn oil and filter...BUT, $151 for labor. WTH? $251.03 for an oil change??? 2. Told them my TPMS light was on and asked them to check it. They added air and drove it until light went off. $225.89!!! My air was low, but Ernie said they inspected other things, therefore they had to charge more. Right! 3. Informed them there was a leak at my propane tank shutoff valve. They looked at it and charged me $111.24 to inform me I had a leak in my shutoff valve. Not fixed...quoted $1,010 to replace valve. 4. Informed transmission fluid should be drained and new filter installed then refill with new recommended fluid. - quoted $1,137. 5. Informed The cooling system should be drained and new coolant installed. The PH of the coolant is higher than recommended. High physical can cause scale build up, loss of heat transfer, higher than normal engine heat coolant hoses should be replaced along with the clamps - Quoted $978. Yes they get you in quick. Yes they have a nice building. But if you want to get the best bang for the buck, you best go elsewhere unless you have money to burn. And don't waste your breath talking to Ernie. If I could rank it lower, I would. Other than a hitch that was installed, pretty much everything Ernie has done for us (for a few thousand dollars of 'service') has had to have been redone! His communication is unclear, his office staff always has to defer to him, his invoices were nonsensical, his 'finished' time was often many weeks off, and he would only give us a verbal bid - nothing in writing (so I guess he could deny if he wished, and he did!!). Shame on us for ever going back, but let me save you from falling into the same hole! Just don't....... read more

My review is based solely on their quick ability to check a trailer I was buying and things weren't working. We gave them about 10 min notice on a Friday afternoon & they were super busy but pulled away for a few to check on the trailers wiring & brakes. I didn't have time to get anything repaired but in talking with the owners and knowing they've been in b usiness - in a small town - for over 20 years, I'm confident they would have taken care of my needs given more time. Last Monday I made an appointment to bring my RV in for repairs; my RV entrance door latch would not work (I couldn't open the door). The appointment was for today and I was just to drop my RV off and leave it at Ernie's and they would do the repairs when they could get to it. Well, they exceeded my expectations. They replaced the door latch while I waited; I was back on the road 4-hours after I arrived. Ernie's staff went above and beyond what I expected and they got me back on the road in a timely fashion. I use Ernie's, even though they are located at the outskirts of Olympia (WA) and 60-miles from my house, because they do excellent work, and they don't cheat me. Don't send your wife in alone to have them check out a hitch that they installed 3 years prior unless you are prepared to pay twice the price for each part and $150 an hour to install the overpriced parts. I also wasn't aware that hitches wore out after 3 years and less than 5K miles of towing. I thought I would get a break on the party/service on the products that they sold and installed but my bad for assuming that. read more

Very nice people and nice facility.in addition I appreciated that they put my unit indoors as I hadn't winterized -keep plugged in at home. However their prices are very high. They charged me $2000 to install Koni front rear shocks for Ford E450 chassis. And it was my bad for not paying attention to their quote. So for two basic interstate house batteries and front and rear Koni shocks I paid $2,700. In retrospect I thought that seemed high. When I called another rv service place for Koni shock install they quoted me parts and labor $1,200. So, as I said Ernie's are nice folks, beautiful facility and I would get a few quotes to feel good about what you are paying. Thanks! read more

I took my 5th wheel RV to Ernie's for multiple repairs. Significant issues were a leaking roof, water leaks under the RV, melted anode in the water heater, blocking the drain plug opening and an addition of back LED brake/signal/running lights. We also agreed to new leaf springs on the 3 axle rig. All work was poor quality, excepting replacement of the leaf springs. Roof leak: Ernie told me I needed a new roof. He said he would need the trailer for four weeks (my wife and I are full time RVers) and cost of repair would be $15,000. After conversation, we agreed to a cap transition strip seal. The shop used tape for sealing. Leaks continued. A reputable repair shop advised the roof was fine and needed to be properly resealed. Cost was $1,500. Water heater: Ernie told me I needed a new water heater. A reputable repair shop drilled out the drain plug and flushed. They also replaced the bypass hose (part of the water leak issue) for $200. Time for repair was one hour. Water leak: Ernie's shop staff indicated on the work order; ran water in all faucets for 35 minutes - no leaks noted. Charge was $65. In addition to the leaking hot water heater mentioned above, I discovered the bathroom sink faucet leaked when the water was on. I replaced the faucet. All leaks fixed. Rear lights: the shop employee wrapped exposed wiring with electrical tape which started unwinding almost immediately, instead of properly using shrink tubing; and installed lights that did not include a running light feature - only brake and signal. Ernie billed $50 for each light, not including labor. Upon my providing the proper lighting ($20 ea.)the shop employee failed to seal the light to the RV, causing the ground connection to rust. I redid the lighting properly myself. Ernie reimbursed me for parts. Ernie has not responded to my emails seeking reimbursement for charges associated with the failed repair of the roof leak and the charge for "troubleshooting" the water leak. read more

Poor business example. Took trailer in to "summerize" for the camping season. Asked them to also check antenna and awning. Failed to properly set water valves. Spent first day of camping trip with no hot water. After calling Ernie on 3 different occasions had to fix it ourselves. Was told the gears were stripped out on the antenna and it would cost $250 to fix. Was told awning drive motor was damaged and it would cost $650 to fix or $1500 to replace. Reputable repair shop explained the antenna was stuck. Lubed the antenna and only charged me labor. Antenna works properly. Awning had 1 loose screw and one missing screw at drive head. Repairman replaced screw, tightened other screw and charged me labor only. Ernie''s shop did little to no appropriate work in "summerizing" my trailer and yet charged me significant money. Then did not properly check the other items before quoting me expensive prices to make "repairs". Will not be a returning customer. read more

I have just been gouged by Ernie's. I took the 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Pleasure Way RV to have belts and hoses replaced, check out the axillary batteries, change spark plugs and wires, and verify that the refrigerator was working properly. The counter person suggested a 60,000 mile package deal for about $1000 dollars. The RV came back with the "service engine" light on, The fan belt was supposedly inspected but not changed and is full of checks, The 18 year old hoses were deemed OK and not changed. The steering linkage was to be greased and it was NOT done, and there is ONE fitting for which I was charged $124.84. The 8 Champion Copper Plus spark plugs (part no RC12LC4) were charged at $135.60 plus $135.95 to install. This is about 460% mark up on the plugs over retail price (NAPA $3.35 each)! I was charged $221.55 to change the engine air cleaner. I was quoted $240.00 for an engine oil service! You get the picture. If you use this service, prepare to be gouged at every turn. I am new to motorhoming. I had a problem where a slide-out was stuck out, making it so I couldn't drive the coach. The user's manual helped get me to the right place, but lacked instructions on how to fix it. I called Ernie's and everyone was most helpful. They don't do mobile repairs, but they put Wyatt on the phone, who looked up the equipment I had and talked me through the steps of resetting the controls. It was simple and easy! He saved me a lot of grief, stress, and I'm sure a lot of money if I ever found a mobile service person. They earned my trust for maintenance or the next problem that shows up. Thank you! read more

Multiple very disappointing transactions with these guys. Three different times, they did not meet deadlines that they provided and even failed to notify me that they would not make the deadline. Now my trailer is on their lot and I cant get them to even answer the phone on a Friday afternoon. They made me miss a camping trip previously and by the looks of it, they're doing it again. I'm honestly so sad to be writing this negative review and would give no stars if I could. My horse trailer was hit a few months ago and in November 2021 I made an appointment for January 2022, giving Ernie's plenty of time to locate the parts needed for repair. I dropped the trailer off on January 17th and also asked to check brakes bearings, the AC unit, and replace a vent cover. I was not told they did not have the parts to do the accident repairs. I was quoted over $300 to replace the seal around the AC unit. I was told the tires on the trailer would need to be replaced within a year which definitely raised a red flag because they are new. Then I was told the brakes were covered in grease and I needed new brakes, bearings and drums. They quoted well over $3000 for those repairs. I know better! A week later they still did not have the parts to repair the accident damage. Communication was lacking as well. After a week, I called to complain about the delay and the extremely high quotes. I was told they could not find the parts for the accident repair and the cost of the brakes was what it would cost. I said I wanted the trailer put back to the state it was in when I left it and that I would pick it up the next day. When I arrived the AC was still in pieces and I had to tell them to put it back together. Today I took the trailer to another shop to have the brakes, drums and bearings looked at. Only one had grease on the brakes where a seal broke. The brakes and drums were fine and did not need replacement. The bearings were packed, brakes cleaned and adjusted. Two hours later it was ready to go for a total cost of $400.33. I'll be taking it to another shop in February for the accident repairs and they are already going out of their way to find the parts for me. As I said, I am very sad to be writing this negative review but I can't believe the way I was treated and the obvious attempt to take advantage of me. Over two months is plenty of time to find parts and be ready when I dropped the trailer off for repairs. Telling me equipment on my trailer needed replacement when it actually did not then quoting ridiculous costs is unconscionable. Ironically, the second shop correctly guessed who had quoted me the ridiculous price for the brakes. I hope this review prevents others from being taken advantage of. Get a few quotes before you decide who you will have do your work. read more

Similar to the phony service Ernie's performs, so is their phony, robotic response to my review. Had Ernies been concerned with the customers safety, then they would have performed a wheel bearing inspection as requested by the customer. I suspected a wheel bearing issues after my long return road trip from Alaska, I conveyed that to Ernie's tech and to Gracie, repeatedly. I was told the wheel bearings were not inspected because my axle was bent and needed replacing, this was also false as I had the axles inspected once I was in Arizona. I was told the axles , shackles, and leaf springs were in good condition and did not need replacing. However, the RV shop in Arizona who performed the axle and alignment inspection did find that my RV had a bad wheel bearing seal on the passenger side of my fifth wheel. Had Ernies done a wheel bearing inspection as requested by this customer, it is possible that the technician would have seen the bad wheel bearing. Instead, Ernies tried to talk this customer into replacing a perfectly good axle that did not need replacing. In ignoring the customers request to inspect the wheel bearings, Ernie's did not act in the customers best interest but instead put the customer at risk of breaking down. I urge all to avoid this shop as this company is as phony/insincere as the response they submitted. read more

My husband and I picked our new RV right at the end of May. While on the road, he decided very quickly that towing a flat bed trailer with our truck and bike on it behind the RV was not working for him. We contacted a few RV shops to see about installing a Hydralift for the bike and a towing bar for the truck. Every place was booked for weeks! (we didn't have weeks) I called Earnie, told him what we needed, time frame we had and he got us in and back on the road according to our schedule. We coordinated drop and pick up time and everything he said he would do, was all done. He took the time to explain how the system worked. A couple days later we had to call him back and was always very pleasant and helpful. We give Earnie 5 starts for customer service, equipment knowledge, timeliness, cost, quality of work. Being one of those who prefer to use the local Mom and Pop business's, Ernie's has been around of those I do use. They have grown a lot since their little shop over on Martin Way and they have significant RV repair experience. Their prices might seem a little bit over the top but you truly get more bang for the buck. For example if you take a trailer in to get the wheel bearings checked and repacked, they not only do the wheel bearings but they inspect and adjust the brakes, check the emergency braking system and do an over inspection of all your safety related items. In my mind I would prefer to pay a little extra for peace of mind and that's what I get when going to Ernie's. The only downside is their communications or lack thereof. I would have made this a 3 or 4 star review because of their lack of communication with me and the length of time it took to do the work I asked for. I brought my concern to the manager and he emphatically apologized 6 ways to Sunday and promised they would make a better effort in communicating with customers. That sense of taking responsibility is why I giving them 5 stars. Other than that little issue, I will continue to do business with them. read more

New to the area, we knew our older trailer needed work, and Ernie's came well-recommended. The estimate came in higher than we hoped and included other work I suspected needed to be done. The capper came when with the estimate, they suggested we not get it fixed - the work would cost more than the trailer was worth. Got my truck in and out fast, but his mark up was well over what I would call wanting return customers. 800 dollar part he does not make, it's a phone call or a click of the mouse for him to order and he added another 400 dollars to it, then charges to install. I wont be returning for parts or service. I work to hard to pay that kind of mark up on a product I can order direct from the supplier online. Had I seen his cost for parts I would have skip his business all together, or ordered the parts and maybe had him install it. I was not in that big of a hurry to pay such a huge mark up.
