My Saab, recently off warranty, has been serviced by two dealers who, while 'ok', were never worthy of my affection. Today, after visiting Performance Automotive, and having John look over my girl, I feel like she and I have found a trusted advisor. The setting is that of an old home on a side street in Pittsfield, MA, now completely turned into an office and garage. It's quirky and wonderful, like the Saab brand itself. I had heard of this place before, and of this famed 'master Saab mechanic', but today was my first chance to experience a devoted, experienced Saab professional. Saab-ulous!

Oliver's error cost me $380 and Terry refused to reimburse me…read more My car hit a deer and I called Oliver Auto Body because of the good online reviews. When I called them they said it could likely be fixed within 30 days because the parts were readily available. I was happy to hear that because my insurance company only covers 30 days of a rental car. But the job ended up taking 37 days which cost me $380 in excess rental car payments. Why did it take 37 days? Terry said his team made a mistake and didn't see the broken light when they took the car apart. And when they did finally realize the light was broken and ordered a replacement, the whole process took 37 days. I asked Terry for a refund of the $380 because it was his own team's oversight. He said NO. He won't give me a dollar. What kind of place is this that admits to making an error but insists on customer paying the costs of their error? AVOID!!

I'm glad I provided them with such great amusement, but it was humiliating to me. It's possible that they didn't realize how loud they were being and didn't know I could hear them. However, good customer service means that you treat people with respect and understanding. They had no idea what reasons I had for bringing my car to them in that state. I didn't get any offers for help (e.g., "We could fix that for you if you want"), just a lot of head-shaking and the reminder that I have 60 days to get it reinspected without a fee. NO THANKS. Not only will I not be bringing my car back for reinspection, but I will never bring any of my cars here again. Their service went far beyond rude and unprofessional. They were downright mean.
