I like that it's a family owned business; 3 generations of Italian- American barber/ owners and Ernesto's grandson cut my hair. He was very fast, yet very accurate with his tools and he was definitely interested in getting it right because my style of cut is only common at Latin & African barbers. I wish a straight razor edge touch up was included but i give them a pass because it was PACKED w/ a long line. My barber was not a stereotypical "mr white italian american bro," he had a warm friendliness without overbearing machismo, & he didn't seem at a loss when I didn't want to talk much about team sports. Hands down best barbershop here in baltimore. Coming from hawaii, we didnt really have much options for barbershops, common places we would go to supercuts. This place has definitely been my favorite and i have been coming here for about a year. I had curs by the barbers, tony, matt, rick they all do a great job. The barbershop feels like your typical barbershop. All the barbers also are easy going and easy to talk to. Theres ample street parking along the shop. The barbershop is clean, cool during the summer, and has a tv while you wait. Fyi it gets pretty crowded and you may be waiting a bit. Thats how you know its a great place! read more

Great Family owned shop in canton that I frequent. All the guys are awesome and have cut my hair at one point or another. They do Good work, have clients of all races and ages. My experience is pleasant every time, greeted as soon as you walk in. They are truly the neighborhood barbers that you want to take care of you. Prices are very fair and I be never had a bad haircut. My regular fro trim was long overdue. I had a half day at work, so I decided to knock out errands. First in line was getting a haircut. I had already tried out one place here in Baltimore, and wanted different flavor. I consulted my Yelp app, and found this barber shop. I ubered my way over here, and it was not hard to find. Since I came here in the early afternoon, it was not busy at all. One of the barbers immediately took me. I wanted to try a different cut, and the barber helped me chose it. It came out looking fantastic. The barber is a pretty good guy. We had a conversation about a lot of things. It turns out this is a family-owned shop, with Ernestos and his two sons working there. The clientele were mainly young professionals. I would repeat, as I found this place is most definitely deserving of five stars. read more

This family-owned business is the best in Baltimore for a haircut. I've been living in Baltimore since 2013 and tried a lot of different barbershops based on where I was living and working. Ernesto, the father owns the shop, and his sons help him. No matter what chair you are in, they want to make sure you get a good haircut. I've never once gone back, but they insist if you don't like it to come back the next day. They are honest, respectful, and great at holding conversations. They are cash-only, but there is an ATM right up the street. read more

Ernesto's is worth and far exceeds the 5 stars that the barbershop has earned through Yelp. My boyfriend and I stopped in today for an easy cut. I imagine parking being a bit of a pain on the weekends - but the service is so fast and courteous that I doubt you'd be there very long anyway. The decor is very warm and inviting, vintage but with new and improved retro flair. Wooden paneling adds a real family charm and the tight-knit family bond that is present, really adds to the experience. Ernesto was there cutting hair, but my boyfriend had Ricardo. He did a really great job on cutting, trimming and shaping up my boo's do. I can say that my boyfriend really enjoyed the old-school straight razor to clean up the back of his neck. He also mentioned that this is the first place in a really long time that actually listened to what he wanted and actually performed. A measly $20 (including your tip) for a solid barbershop! Absolutely a must try for all you gentlemen out there. read more

Ernesto's is a friendly and appealling barber shop right by O'Donnell/Canton Square to get your haircut. Inside is a fairly tight but not uncomfortable crowded place. Call me weird but I really dig their hardwood floors--i'm sure that the floors don't have a bearing on how well they can cut my hair. There are four stations and when I was there, three barbers were cutting. They also sell refreshments if you are thirsty waiting for a cut. I actually got my haircut by Ernesto himself and he is a very friendly and meticulous hair professional that cares about how you feel about his work. Being my first time, he made sure if I liked how my cut was progressing since you can "always cut more but you can't add the hair back". He didn't cut so fast that you can't stop him if something was going the wrong way. All in all, I was satisfied with my cut for $17...I think if the price was a bit lower or there was something additional to wow me, I would have given a fifth star. No hesistation to recommend or return. read more

Hard to believe this place exists in 2016! Ernesto runs this shop with his 2 sons and his 85 year old dad. It is unbelievably friendly and welcoming. And they do a great job at a great price. They even shave your neck with a straight edge and trim your eye brows. read more

I'm completely sold on Ernesto's. I love this family owned super easy going barber shop. I've only been twice now but it seems to be Ernesto, two or three sons, and maybe a friend or two who work there. I've had two of the sons cut my hair. I've been completely happy and satisfied with both encounters. The atmosphere is welcoming and jovial, what I think of as a classic barber shop. No uber modern touches and no cheesy mall hair cuttery flavor either. They ask me what I want and they've done a great job without too much direction up front. I found a photo of someone online and said something like that and I got a haircut I loved. The second time I said make it like it is now but shorter and he succeeded. As we went he asked questions to make sure we were moving in a direction I liked. Both brothers were honestly some of the friendliest and most engaging people I've met in quite a while. If you want a barber who will quietly cut your hair while you quietly sit then Ernesto's may not be your place. These guys can talk and we chatted the entire time. The price felt good. $17 feels totally fair to me. I honestly don't know what an average cut costs but the $20 I leave with tip is completely fair as far as I'm concerned. And the hot shaving cream they use to edge up your neck at the end is an incredible touch that could keep me coming back on its own merit! One important thing to keep in mind is that Ernesto's is CASH ONLY. I know there is a Bank of America ATM at the end of the block and I think at least one other ATM within a block of the shop. If you want a great cut without unnecessary frills and pomp, definitely check out Ernesto's. read more

This couldn't be a nicer or friendlier place. Be aware, though, this is a classic barber shop not a salon. This is a no-frills, classic barber shop and the guys (and there are multiple generations of barbers here) are friendly, courteous and work quickly, doing a great job at getting you in and out quickly. The haircut was simple and exactly as I wanted it. There's not much else to be said. It's rare that you find someone incredibly skilled at what they do and not trying to up sell you on some type of product. If you're looking for a haircut, you can't go wrong here. I've been going to Ernestos for almost a year now and I will continue going hopefully forever. You walk in the place and you may be a little skeptical, country music, a bunch of guys who don't necessarily look like your typical barbers, but let me tell you I think it is in there genes, literally. All of them are related from Grandfather to Grandson. The place does specifically Mens cuts and has all the typical mens magazines. They do a hot foam shave on the back of your neck with a straight razor and can shoot the sh*t with the best of them. Great hair-cut, atmosphere and conversation all for $15!!!!!! Yes I said $15!!!! Oh, but make sure you bring your wallet because they only take cash and if you forget they don't mind you coming back in 10 min while you go grab some cash. read more

Family owned and operated for years, this small shop's wood paneling and faint musty smell makes you feel manly just walking in. Received my haircut from Tino(Ernesto's father), and it went ok. I asked for a fade starting with a No. 1 and then to fade it up, however he stopped above my ears without fading in and said it was good. I Had to basically word it a certain way for him to continue through and complete the fade. Basically had to walk him through the haircut the whole time. It was a really simple haircut too. He insisted on trimming/ edging my scruff aswell, didn't say it costed extra or anything and I figured it wouldn't since it's not a beard, however, at the end it was a 19$ haircut. Pretty expensive for a place that has an experience like that. I'll probably go again, this time I'll try Ernesto's though. read more

Ernesto and his staff are the best barbers in Baltimore. I've trusted them for keeping me looking good (and wife gives the seal of approval) since I moved to the city. For men, nothing beats a licensed barber when it comes to a haircut. You might save a few dollars at that mall place, but the people working there aren't barbers, they're stylist. You want a barber. Ernesto's shop is very classic. The wood paneling and antique chairs give it a very comfortable feeling. All the barbers on staff are nice, and happy to chat about anything, which I like. It's a cool place to talk about Baltimore among friends. Ernesto's also does a great military cut. That is one thing that is difficult to master, and these gentlemen do it well. I highly recommend for LEO and military folks. Go to Ernesto's and you won't be let down. read more

Don't let the rookie kid cut your hair! I think if you have anyone else you should be in good shape, but the kid messed my cut up badly. I had to go over to Dewin Hand Talk to get it right, and now I am a customer there from now on. I also don't like the set up of the chairs. You stare at the customers that are waiting. They should face the chairs you are getting your cut in towards the mirror, not towards the waiting clients. It is awkward in my opinion. They also didn't brush off the hair off of my head or neck. There was hair falling off of me right after my cut. read more

I've been going to Ernesto's since I moved to the area 2 years ago. They are a legit, locally/family owned barber shop and have been cutting hair for generations. No matter how busy the waiting area is, I've never waited more than a few minutes. I've gotten a cut and a shave from most of the guys that work here and it always looks great, despite the fact that I have ridiculous curly hair. $17 + tip (cash only) for a haircut and worth 2-3 times that. read more
