I've been around a half century, and counting. I believe in therapy to help us through crises, or just to help navigate everyday life.
Based on my experience I can say there are good therapists and not-so-good therapists. Then there are other, rare ones, true healers, angel-type therapists. Dr. Erik Sowder is in this rarest of categories. The energy he emanates from start to finish is that of a welcoming feather-light embrace, coupled with practical, doable yet gentle prescriptions: breathe, move, recognize the good in yourself; he helped me by teaching me how to help myself. Always aware that I had a session coming up, on which I could rely to report my progress or my fall from it. No matter whether I'd stepped forward or back, he was there to support and shine the light on the path. Working with him I found the forward steps outnumbered the inevitable, natural backward steps. He helped me see that in our stories those backward steps can be valuable, and nothing to lament or regret. He helped find meaning and feather-light perspective on the heaviest of burdens.
I'm fortunate to have worked with Dr. Sowder. I recommend him with my whole grateful heart. read more
