Eric did a great job and was very thorough I would strongly recommend for your Mercedes. Quite the cost savings over the dealerships.

Ambler Tire & Auto - Thank you Philly for voting us best mechanic 2023

Ambler Tire & Auto

I moved to the area about two years ago, and I needed to find a new mechanic. I called around to…read morefive different places looking to schedule an oil change. Since my first oil change over two years ago, I have brought my car to Ambler Tire for safety/emissions inspection, alignment work, and new tires. When I called Ambler Tire, the owner (Dave) answered and I requested an oil change. I gave him the year, make, and model of my car. He instantly said I would need the synthetic oil which is more expensive than standard oil. I said that's okay because I know my car manual recommends synthetic oil. When I called the other four places, they gave me a price for a standard oil change and didn't even ask for what type of car. I asked what if I need synthetic oil and they said it would be 2-3 times as much as the standard oil change. Based on those phone calls, I immediately decided on Ambler Tire which seemed to be the most knowledgeable, experienced, and actually cared about my car. After calling around to multiple shops, Ambler Tire is not the cheapest nor the most expensive. Their prices are right in the middle. I am okay paying a little more to know that my car is in good hands.

Listen. LISTEN. If you are considering hiring this "mobile mechanic," please pause, take a deep…read morebreath, and maybe lie down, because what I'm about to describe is not for the faint of heart. This man rolled up to my driveway in a van that looked like it had already lost a fight with a tornado, a raccoon, and possibly its own sense of self-worth. He hopped out, spilled an entire soda, and said, "Don't worry, that happens." Sir. SIR. Why is that your greeting?? He opened my hood, nodded like he was understanding the secrets of the universe, then poked a totally random part and said, "Yep, that's your problem." When I asked what the problem was, he said and I quote, "Mechanic stuff." Thirty minutes later my car was making a new sound I can only describe as "haunted dishwasher screaming into the void." I asked him if that was normal and he said, "Cars make noises." Then he charged me an amount of money so offensive I think it might be a hate crime against my bank account. He drove away. My car died. In the same moment. Like they were spiritually connected and my car couldn't continue living after witnessing whatever he did to it. If you hire this man, may the automotive gods have mercy on your soul because he WILL NOT. i would give zero stars but, Yelp refuses to let me express the true depth of my suffering.

Basically we were side swiped. I put out a project on yelp asking for a mechanic. Dave messaged me…read moreand said he would come out that night to take a look. Hours go by and he never showed. Finally that morning he came by. Told us the issues and told us what parts to get. We paid him $250 to buy the parts and $200 in labor. Not only did he get junked parts but none of them were good. I asked him to at least refund us for the money we paid in the parts. So he stopped responding. DO NOT USE THIS MECHANIC. He took our car parts and sold them for cash and our car still isn't running. We've had to have another mechanic take a look and begin to work on the car. This was a very unpleasant experience I wish on no one.

Pretty frustrating experience…read more I called Mavis and spoke to someone at the call center I presume, and they looked up my tire and gave me a price saying I would get a discount as I was a first time customer and all in it would be $150. When I went to the physical store the guy said the tire they quoted me was the incorrect size and said the correct tire is cheaper yet he gave me a price of $161 all in. When I questioned him about this he said well you got the valve stem replacement that we put on your tire for $11 bucks. This still did not make sense as the valve stem should not increase the price by 11 bucks if you sold me a much cheaper tire coming in at 109.99. ON TOP OF ALL THIS, he said my car is dangerous to drive as one side of my brakes is at a 6 and the other side was at a 2. I said I did not want them to touch my brakes and immediately took it to a reputable mechanic and the mechanic said all my brakes are at 6's and he does not know where they came up with one of your brakes being a 2. It's sad that there are still dishonest car places out there today. If the business manager reads this, please answer why I was charged $25 for a computer system check on my car? My car is over 12 years old, is this a charge for newer cars or why do your customers get charged for this when you bring in a car for a replacement tire?
