Pretty frustrating experience. I called Mavis and spoke to someone at the call center I presume, and they looked up my tire and gave me a price saying I would get a discount as I was a first time customer and all in it would be $150. When I went to the physical store the guy said the tire they quoted me was the incorrect size and said the correct tire is cheaper yet he gave me a price of $161 all in. When I questioned him about this he said well you got the valve stem replacement that we put on your tire for $11 bucks. This still did not make sense as the valve stem should not increase the price by 11 bucks if you sold me a much cheaper tire coming in at 109.99. ON TOP OF ALL THIS, he said my car is dangerous to drive as one side of my brakes is at a 6 and the other side was at a 2. I said I did not want them to touch my brakes and immediately took it to a reputable mechanic and the mechanic said all my brakes are at 6's and he does not know where they came up with one of your brakes being a 2. It's sad that there are still dishonest car places out there today. If the business manager reads this, please answer why I was charged $25 for a computer system check on my car? My car is over 12 years old, is this a charge for newer cars or why do your customers get charged for this when you bring in a car for a replacement tire? read more

My Grandson hit one of those infamous PA potholes. I dropped by and they were able to fit me in. They kept me informed and sent pictures of the damage. It was pretty bad. One of the techs, William, went above and beyond to come up with a solution for a damaged rim. It ended up repairing was the best option. They had everything repaired in three days. I am writing this review for the Mavis national customer service person, Kanitra who assisted me today in my search for the record of my purchase of 4 tires and the extended warranty at the Mavis location in Dresher, PA. a while ago. The Dresher store could not find me in its computer and I had to pay for tire services that should have been covered under the warranty purchase. The manager named Chy said that if I found the tire and warranty receipts my payment would be refunded. I then called the national customer service office and i was patiently and enthusiastically helped by Kanitra. Unfortunately she could not find me in the company records. At the same time that she was helping me I looked for a file in which I keep all of the service records for the car that was serviced. Thankfully the receipts for the tire and warranty purchase were in my file. Kanitra was ecstatic when I told her I found the records. I contacted the store and was told that the store manager Jessica would call me to arrange for the refund of my payment. Hopefully the refund will be made as promised. I am grateful for Kanitra's help - she is an excellent representative of Mavis! read more

STAY AWAY!!!! I took my car in with a screw in my sidewall. I was told they had to order tire. I went on to pickup, I paid and even being it was over $100 than quoted, I paid and left. The next morning, I looked and noticed the tire is a different brand and doesn't match what they took off and quoted me and does not match the other 3 tires on. I called Dave and he told me, sorry, we couldn't get your tire so we put another one on......... sorry, it doesn't work like that, Dave! He then told me that if I can get the correct tire, they will mount at n/c and refund me the tire that they put on. Even though I thought that was weird, I agreed and found the tire easily and would have in 2 days. I then got a call the next morning and was told that there's nothing they could do since I drove on it. They can't refund or do anything. I'm sorry, but that is unacceptable for a tire shop to install a tire that does not match, especially in a high performance SUV that I just spent $600 for 1 tire! ......I did talk to a customer service person and offered me a $100 gift card for future use. Made an appointment for 12. Dropped the car off with a not so friendly female manager (where has nice customer service gone these days?!) at the front. Waited almost five hours with no update for a standard inspection. After calling they said "sorry we are busy and won't be able to look at it today". No apologies. No attempt to resolve the delay (how about first inspection next business day???). The absolute worst customer service I've seen in a long time. We are a one car family so car service takes a lot of planning and logistics. It is irritating to have a company that handles cars have no respect or appreciation of that. My wife went in for an oil change. An hour later she heard scraping so she brought it back there. They reattached the oil pan with ZIP TIES and sent her on her way. The last oil change was 5 months ago and drove fine. They said she only had one screw attached which can't be right. They also said they don't have any screws. Made an appointment for an inspection. Appointment was for 9 am on saturday. Dropped the car off friday and left the key and completed necessary paperwork. Call at 10, since appointment was 9, and my car had not been put up yet and they had no timetable. Called at 11, same story even though I made an appointment for 9! Finally, had my husband go over around 3 and car was ready and we got in and the maintenance light and service light were still on. Went to Mavis for a new tire. They told me that I also needed front brakes and pads. I had them do the job for a total of $750, which I thought was expensive, but had them do it. Got the car back and immediately hear a grinding sound. Brought the car back 2 weeks later and they said I needed rear brakes that they were metal on metal. Why didn't they say that when I had my car in the first time. They noticed the front brakes that still had rubber on them, but not the back brakes that are metal on metal???? I find that quite suspicious! The brakes did not wear to metal in 2 weeks! I will not have them do anymore work on my cars...I would not recommend Mavis to anyone. Will never go back! read more

My son dropped his car off at Mavis in Dresher to have a oil change and state inspection. They said they would have it ready at the end of the day. He called Mavis at the end of the thinking that his car was ready and they told him that it is still sitting in there parking lot with no work performed on it, and they said they were swamped. They never called him telling him that they could not finish the work on his car. What a joke, I drove my son over to pick up his un-finished car, I went in and I guess the manager told me they were swamped also. Seems priority vehicles come first, I was pissed. I had a huge piece of metal in one of my tires and it needed to be patched. I was immediately greeted, given a fair price to patch and remount my tire. The service technician checked all of my other tires and he discovered another leak, which he pointed out to me and asked if I wanted to have that repaired as well, which I did. I originally thought I would need to replace all of my tires due to age and when I asked the gentleman's opinion, he said the tires were in good condition and didn't need to be replaced at this time. He could have very easily have taken advantage of the question and tried to sell me new tires. I so appreciate his honesty, speed of service and excellent customer service. When I do need new tires, I will certainly be back!! read more

Wish I could give zero stars. Took my car there twice for a nail in my tire. When i left the first time, my tire pressure was worse then when I took it in. When I called and took it back, they had an entire attitude and claimed to fix it but my tire pressure is still low despite constantly filling it with air. Long story short, they cannot fix a simple tire issue and all you'll get is a rude attitude. read more

While Mavis in Dresher was highly recommended to me by my parents, I must say it all depends on who is operating as manager when you go. There is an older gentleman who is extremely knowledgeable and patient and mindful when explaining procedures to you as well as maintaining a respectful conversation with you. However, there is another gentleman who is younger with dark hair (I believe his name is Mike) and he is the justification behind this rating. I (as well as my husband) have interacted with him in several scenarios as well as two different locations and were spoken to with ignorance and when we asked questions in regards to the services rendered, we were spoken to with sarcasm. I had a 2013 Dodge Durango and it has not performed the same since the fall of 2019. I took my truck in for routine oil change, brakes and rotors all around and the brakes were grinding and I did as I was instructed (give it some time) and they still never performed the same. I ended up taking my Durango to the dealer for a check engine light and they discovered that the wrong filter was used by Mavis for the Oil change. I hate to generalize an entire company by the performance of one person but due to the lasting damage my car has sustained, I feel it is safe to make others aware of the service at the Dresher location as well as the Cowpath Road Location. read more

Perfectly timed flat tire heading into a holiday weekend (and end of month). My car has no spare, so I came here rather than my regular mechanic because it was closest. Due to backlog for inspection and appointment, had to leave the car for the weekend. I took the opportunity to replace all four tires since they were about due anyway. Came back first thing after the holiday and car was ready to go. Staff couldn't have been more matter-of-fact, courteous and conversational. Answered all my questions and even addressed an overlooked detail on the spot (relearning TPMS) when I came back later in the week. Always skeptical when working with a new repair service, but would definitely consider Mavis for my next service (since this first visit was pure necessity). read more

I got four new tires from here two years ago, I put less than 20,000 miles on my car in that time and my tires need to be replaced again. I think they may have put used tires on my car. It doesn't make any sense. Tires don't go bald after 20,000 miles. This place is pretty awful. The guys were very rude. They tried to take advantage of a young female, and claimed I needed tons of work on my car. I got prices from other places and they were so much cheaper. Mavis Discount Tire - Dresher PA I made an appointment to have to have my two front tires replaced on Sunday, January 12,2020. When I got the call that the tires were done, the technician told me that there were other problems with the car that needed immediate attention or the car could be damaged more or something worse. They made it sound life threatening. There was a problem with the front end that they quoted $550.00 to repair and the rear shocks were bad and needed replacement for $450.00 The technician asked who had done the last inspection because it should have not passed inspection, but when the same Mavis location installed new rear tires a month before the inspection, no one mentioned the problems (this should have been a red flag for me). When I asked which problem was the more serious, the said the rear shocks, so we settled at a price of $400.00 and I wanted the old shocks back. When I pick up the car and they tell me the price, it seemed high, but they assured me that they gave me a discount (shame on me). So I paid the bill and then they printed it out. First thing I notice is that they charged me for mew valve stems, which I was told was included in the tire price. Next I notice a "shop charge" that was never discussed.. Now the big surprise, the agreed upon price of $400.00 is back up to $440.00. And as I look closer the bill states that the customer wants the brakes, shocks and battery examined. The brakes are a year and a half old with less than 10,000 miles and the battery is under warranty, LIES LIES. I bring all this up to the technician and he won't budge. And the technician claims that the old shocks had to be sent back to somewhere and shows me a picture of one shock that may not even be mine. So now when I get home, I take a picture of the shocks and find out the brand and do some research. It turns out that the shocks are OESprectrum shocks model # 37082, that retail for between $41.00 and $57.00 and Mavis charged me $175.00 per shock. But they identify the shocks as model #37081 on the bill, which is the number for front shocks. By my calculation, they overcharged me about $275.00 for the "free" valve stems, the "shop Charge" and the amount they overcharged for the shocks. As one famous judge likes to say, I wouldn't believe them if their tongue came notarized. I will never ever go back to Mavis in Dresher PA. John read more

On Wednesday, July 6th, 2022 I made an appointment for Saturday, July 9th @ 9:00AM to have my car PA State Inspected. I dropped the car off at 8:00AM July 9th and was told my car would be ready at noon, and they would call. At 1:00PM I called Mavis (because they did not call) and they said that they had been busy and were just pulling my car in and it would be an hour and a half and they would call. At 2:30PM (still no call), my wife dropped me off at the Dresher Mavis. My car had not been moved from the spot that I parked it in at 8:00AM. I inquired at the counter as to why my car hadn't been inspected and why I was not called. The counter person stated that my car was not due for inspection and they couldn't do it. I explained that it WAS due and I wanted it inspected. The counter person double checked and agreed it was due BUT asked if I now wanted it done. I stated that I did and that was why I made the appointment. I stated that I now was going to wait rather than leave again. At 3:00PM they pulled my car into the garage and performed the inspection. I have used STS-Mavis Dresher for over ten years for inspections, oil changes, and tire purchases. This experience was horrible! I was lied to, deceived and treated as if I was bothering the business. While I was waiting three other customers (with appointments) were waiting hours past their appointment time for service. One customer became very frustrated and was verbally abusive to the staff. Although it was uncalled for, I can sympathize. I wish I could give a ZERO instead of 1 star! read more

Gave this place another shot after a bad experience a few years ago. That ended up being a mistake. Got full synthetic oil change which should be good for 5k miles and I started getting "oil change required" messages after about 3k. When I went in they just reset the message without doing anything else. Told me to come back in another 5k miles lol. I think they charged me for synthetic and gave me standard oil. I came to have an inspection in June and to my surprise, I was told I was going to fail inspection because I needed new windshield wipers. I was told everything was fine EXCEPT for wiper blades. Bear in mind, my car had just been serviced by another shop in mid December and I had the wipers replaced during my service appointment. With that said, I never heard of wiper blades going bad in only 6 months. Still, as opposed to failing the inspection, I had Mavis switch out the wipers so that I could pass the inspection. With tax and "misc fee," the wiper blades costed me an additional $31.64. I asked for the old wiper blades back so that I could examine them. After I inspected the rubber on the old wiper blades, the rubber edges on one of the blades appeared to be torn on both ends. I found it strange that both rubber edges were torn so evenly on both ends. Not only that, there was black grease and hand prints on the edges that were torn, as if someone with greasy hands purposely tore the rubber edges before handing wipers back to me (I wonder where that came from). When you add all of this up, it sounds like foul play in my opinion. Of course, when I asked about it, they denied it. But anyone who knows how some car shops operate, they can and will rip you off if you're not careful - even for a single dollar. Things just didn't sit well with me. When I brought the old blades back to the original place I got them from, they said the same thing that I said; blades don't typically go bad in just 6 months. They also took a look at the rubber edges and said that the rubber doesn't typically rip and tear like that with regular use. What a shame. It is sad that Mavis will go as far as to fail someone for windshield wiper blades that didn't need to replaced in the first place, just to sell the customer overpriced replacements. To make matters worse, I had an appointment to get the inspection and was told I needed to wait at least a couple of hours when I arrived. I made it very clear that I made an appointment A WEEK IN ADVANCE and took time off of work for the appointment. I even confirmed the appointment the day before with James. It wasn't like I did a walk-in appointment or asked for a favor. I merely expected them to honor an appointment that was made a week in advance. There is no excuse for this. So they don't respect people's time and they are willing to fail an inspection for wiper blades that don't even need to be replaced. They have lost a loyal customer. I also told friends and family about this and they will no longer bring any of their cars to Mavis for any reason. There are so many car shops in the area. Competitors are plentiful at every turn. Take your car elsewhere. Don't get ripped off. read more

I walked into this Mavis to see if they could take care of a simple tire patching right away, i already had the tire off of the car. The manager/front man says he can't patch it today, come back tomorrow and he'll have it done by then. Ok no problem. I call in the next morning to ask if they finished patching it. The manager says yes, come in after 3pm and they'll put the tire back on my car. I get there at 4pm, the manager says that his guys are busy and he can't put the tire back on. I ask why, he gives me the same answer as he very smugly points to the cars in the bays, indicating how busy they are. (there were only two cars on the lifts) I said ok just give me the tire, i roll it to my car myself, put it in my trunk and drive away. Never going back there again. No one was in their lobby while I was there, yet the manager acted flustered and inconvenienced every time I interacted with him. We have used their services back when they used to be named STS Dresher. Recently I took my Explorer in for several services one of which was a concern about the tires, their integrity and wheel shaking. I was told I could get more life out of the tires if I just get an alignment by a friendly rep. I agreed happily to save money. I then drove my car and felt the same wheel shake. I went to Pep Boys for balancing. They pulled me aside, showed me my tires after balancing 1 of them and said they feel that I needed new tires and was stopping the balance job without charging me. I started researching tires and finally agreed to get new tires. Shortly after beginning the job they called me to tell me my struts were shot and part of the control arm was tearing from the car hence a balding wear on one of the tires. They said that Mavis was not certified to do this type of work and should NOT have told me to get an alignment as it would do nothing for my symptoms. I was upset to be misled so I contacted them by email. I received a call & voice mail at dinner time and called back the next day. I got the rep's voice mail but it was so full that I could not leave a voice mail. (that is a red flag on numerous levels) I decided to send him a text message since that should go through. I saw the he read my message but wasn't calling me. I called him back the next day and he asked if he could call me back in a half hour. I said sure and guess what, no call. My goal was to explain my history with this facility but at this point all I wanted was a refund on a wasted alignment. He said he requested a refund as well as vouchers to bring me back to have work done. A week goes by and nothing. Another week and nothing. I had to text him several times as there were no calls from him or the store that were to contact me. After several more days without any contact I said this is enough, it is just not acceptable. He called me to ask if I could drive to the store and have them refund. Sure I will drive there and do what they should have. The guys at the facility are very friendly, but I no longer have faith in their abilities and customer service at the corporate level is non existent. UPDATE: The unreliability continues. I was instructed to call customer service in effort to bring me back to Mavis. I spoke to Charise who said she would send a voucher to a different location for me to try in the future. I said I would be at the store about 2 and wanted to make sure there would be no issues. She said yes the voucher will be ready by 2. Well, I got to the store about 2:25 and sure enough, NO VOUCHER!! 2 gentlemen checked printers, drawers, nothing. I said I cannot wait any longer after about 30 minutes and was told they were contacting Charise in customer service again. They said they would email the voucher once it was printed and would call me. I then called the customer service line back myself as she suggested if there was any issue picking it up. I asked for Charise and was hung up on. I called back and they asked me to hold, after a while they came back on the line to say she was at lunch. This was at 3pm. I am not holding my breath as the only consistency with Mavis has been let downs. Update part 2- I finally received a call back from the store and customer service some time after 5. Customer service wanted me to drive back there, AGAIN. I asked the store to scan and email it to me and the nice gentleman I saw in the store emailed it shortly after. read more

I have gone to STS Tires in Dresher for years. This experience was the worst. When you call, you get the call center and the service guys act like it's your fault that they don't have your tires and didn't know you were coming. They kept my car for hours, and didn't submit the request to the fleet company for authorization. Then sent me out into the snow with a donut. I was very disappointed and won't be back. read more

Took my car not too long ago to get new tires. The price was fairly reasonable. So of course I took the deal. My vehicle before taking it in to their shop had passed inspection and emissions. When I received it back from Mavis Discount Tire my hanger on my exhaust was broken and there was a hole in my catalytic converter. Hmmm not saying they did this, but it's seems suspect. Had appointment today to get car checked out prior to driving cross country this week. Store was supposed to be open at 8 am. Had ten am appointment. Got there and it was locked and dark. Five other angry customers arrived and had to leave since no one was there to let us in. I had told the person on the phone that this had to be done today and had a ten am appointment. I received no call to cancel or at least give me the courtesy to tell me they were closed unexpectedly. I ended up taking it to Mavis in willow grove which was a horrible experience. When I called Dresher location at the end of the day I asked for the manager and someone named Rob said he was the manager and couldn't have been ruder. Still no apology or explanation for not being open this morning. Completely unprofessional. I may be young but I know for sure when I'm getting jerked around...If I could give a half a star, I would for the half assed effort at the front desk and management. Not only did it take two whole days for a single state inspection, but they played around with my time and money saying that they could do it that same day knowing fully well that their system was currently broken and decided not to tell me as I found out it had been broken since the night before when I came in later the next day to check on my car and he forgot who I even was. Anyway, he decides to call me at 4 pm after I already dropped off my car the first thing in the morning so it could be done faster saying it won't be done until tomoro when they have their machine fixed first thing in the morning because the guy from the state comes "within 24 hours". Why didn't you just tell me that in the first place.? Then the next day when the machine is fixed I call in the morning because my car should be done by now and he tells me they have internet problems and can't run the system until 2pm when the internet is fixed. So when I walk down from my house at 2pm they are servicing Cars that just got there that day instead of getting mine done in the order they came in when the internet came back on at 2pm. He said it would be done in 2 hours when I left there at 2:30pm. When I call back AGAIN in 2 hours it had just gotten STARTED to be looked at let alone finished like Mike said and that he would call me again at 6:30. I had to call him at 7:15 because I knew my call from mike just wasn't coming. It was finally done at 8pm, nearly at closing. Mike at the desk just has zero respect for other people's time as he merrily just stands behind the desk there helplessly and uselessly. All he had to do was tell me to go somewhere else because the machine wasn't working or at least warn me and give me the option. Not make it sound like you can, when you can't. Stuck without a car for 2 days because of a single inspection and a single person at the front desk. One of my jobs completely rely on my vehicle so this was a huge burden not only time wise but money wise as well. Should have stuck to the saying... "Never trust a place that has "discount" in the name." Because you pay more than full price after dealing with the front desk. I'm sure you guys in the garage, actually working, would do great things with NEW MANAGEMENT!!! Mike or Michael just sits at the desk in the AC not knowing what in the hell is going on while everyone else works on the cars and apparently even supervise the guys doing work on their shop because Mike didn't even know what caused the internet to go out. The man that worked on my car said they dug into some lines or something. Hell, he should be manager instead of Mik I know things happen but Mike just didn't give it to me straight from the get go and just kept running crap excuses and not calling me when he should. Respectful guy and all but all a person has is their word and his couldn't be trusted. The sad thing is I would have come back for more major and routine work if I didn't get jerked around by him. I just got this car and I live up the street from Mavis. Using my fathers auto guy from now on though. UPDATE:went to my dealership and they found the nail that was causing my slow leak in the tire that Mavis apparently fixed and when I told Michael about it at the desk he said it must have opened up again after they patched the hole.
