My son called me I work in the Automotive industry.. He said they told him he needed front brake rotors and Two tires .. I said asked the service advisor why .. are they two tires losing air , dry rotted low on tread.. so we can understand and make a decision.. The service advisor never answered my son's questions and told him your car will be out in 5 minutes.... 30 minutes later my son is still waiting.. he went to the desk and his paper work was setting there ... Not a fan. I called ahead to make sure they were not backed up as I just needed a tail light bulb switched out. They said it wouldn't take long and could have me out probably in 30 minutes or less. Once I handed my keys to the cashier he took my number down and a text was immediately sent to me showing the progress and ETA on my car service. So far so good but then.... The ETA showed it would be completed in 30 minutes. After being in the waiting room for 30 minutes I got up and saw my car still wasn't taken back yet and was exactly where I had parked it! To top it off I got a 10% coupon off any service or tire purchase and the cashier wouldn't take it as he said it would not scan. First he tried to say it was only for a tire purchase and then I said what about this first part that says for ANY SERVICE in bold? Didn't matter. Whole service for my light bulb took one hour. I needed to get my tire plugged so I made an appointment two days in advance so that I could get it done in a timely manner . Everyone says go to Pep Boys. They have great value and great service. Well I showed up and they said they wouldn't be an hour and a half. I said to plug a tire they said no before we could even see you! WTF why did I even make an appointment and why didn't you call me at least to tell me you were running behind has my business forever and my local station has gained it. They took me and had my tire Fixed and I was gone and out of there in 10 minutes! I guess Manny, Mo and Jack are Old I need to be put out to pasture. I have never used Pep Boys before so when my AC stopped working I decided to give them a shot. I scheduled an appointment for Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 3pm using their "Make An Appointment" page at pepboys.com. When I arrived the person at the service desk told me they can't take my car today because the one technician who services air conditioning had to leave for a family emergency. I was offered an appointment the next day at 8am. My family and I shifted our schedules around to make this work. When we arrived at 8am on Friday June 7 I was told they can't take my car today because a machine needed for the service was not working. When I asked why they couldn't have notified me for either of the issues two days in a row I was told "the system doesn't do that". I canceled my service and will never return to another Pep Boys. ~~~~~ Update: I had my Air Conditioning serviced at my regular repair shop. It took about a week because they have been very busy, but the result is my AC is now blowing cold. It took just 1.4 quarts of R143A refrigerant, they evacuated the system and added dye per manufacturer specs. Total charge was $203. Pep Boys had estimated $575! read more

Avoid this place at all costs. Last month I went there to fix a slow leak in tire. I waited there for 2 hours and they put a plug in it. I paid $31 and thought it was fixed. Three weeks later the same tire was losing air again. I took it back asking them to fix it for free and they said they had to look to see if it's same spot. Of course they tell me it's different spot in same time. The older guy with grayish hair told me I had another needle same tire in different spot. I felt this was sketchy and he said "I have no reason to lie. This is totally different hole." He tries to charge me $31 again but he brought it down to $26. I wake up next morning and the tire pressure is now 10 pounds!!!! Flat tire!! I call them up asking for refund and they said there is no warranty and they needed to look at it. Triple A comes to tow the car and they take tire off looks at it and tells me there was only one hole they plugged up and the guy lied to me about two nails. He showed me exactly where he plugged it up and showed me leaking tire. The tow truck driver fixed it for free and I ran over to Pep Boys demanding refund. They didn't believe me and said it was 2 holes and they needed to take it back to shop. I said I wanted full refund and If they take it back there I'm going with them. Knowing them they would purposely damage it. See the crappy plug they put in tire. The manager admitted the guy should have patched it and gave some BS lie saying the guy that fixed it is no longer with company. Lies!! He was fired in less than 24 hours??? Absolute SCAM!! I will accept the blame for not reading previous reviews prior to utilizing this location, but it does not excuse the lack of professionalism and fraud they are committing. They are suggesting unnecessary repairs to pass inspection that were actually not required. Only when pressed did they disclose these were not required. Additionally, they tried to say the windshield wipers that were just replaced prior to moving to PA were bad. Obviously wiper conditions are subjective so they use this as a scam often from what I see in the reviews. Charging $66 for wipers is absurd. Anthony basically tries to strongarm you into paying or being failed. We said we'd bring our own wipers which he agreed to put on for free. So we did and he still failed the car saying it was not the correct wipers although they were the exact ones currently on the car. I have never seen such blatant fraud. Pennsylvania has a list of inspection station and inspector violations on their website dot.state.pa.us If you unfortunately become victim to this place please report them 800-265-0921 this has to stop. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would! They need to be SHUT DOWN! I will be writing corporate! I am so upset. Car broke down on turnpike with a flat tire so had to get it towed to the closest place which happened to be THIS pep boys! So I placed order on line to have 4 new tires installed. Car arrived at pep boys at about 8:30am-9:00am. Fast forward to 7:30pm, that's when they were done!! Not to mention they did not look at my muffler that was hanging low which I asked them to look at. They lied and said they called and left a voicemail but that is NOT TRUE! Went directly home about 25 minutes drive and when I parked and got out one tire is completely flat and two other tires are very low on air!!! These are suppose to be 4 new tires!!! I began to read other reviews and see for over 6 years they have been receiving negative reviews, especially about how long they take!! I am so upset!!! If you don't want to feel the way I feel DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!! You've been warned!!! When the guy showed up 20 minutes late, there was no apology for being late. I was there for a state inspection and they said they didn't have the right lift for my car. I'm 84 years old. I purchased 2 tires with install at Pepboys Willow Grove, Pa. I was there from 12 noon to 5PM waiting for tires. Finally they were done according to John the Service Manager. I took my car and went home, only to find out that JOHN NEVER PUT MY TIRES ON THE CAR. They tried to rip me off because I'm old. My Nephew went back to confront John, who gave my nephew a hard time. Phil (nephew) was told to shut up because John was talking to him. Phil Got Irate! Is this how they treat customers at Pepboys now, I agree with one thing, they are boys, not men! I made an appointment for a 9am state inspection. I was told this is the earliest time so no one would be in front of me. I was called at 8:30 to confirm, and I confirmed and headed over. When I arrived i was told another inspection was being done but should be done soon and then mine will be started. They gave me an estimate of two hours. At this point my appointment was already ruined but i was okay to still wait as I had not planned for a ride and needed the inspection done. 5 hours later at 2pm my Inspection has finally been done. My entirety day was wasted in a waiting chair. The inspection did take longer because one tail light needed to be replaced, but having done this myself before, I know this is a 10 Minute job with no tools required. At no point in the 5 hours was I communicated to regarding a potential delay or eta of completion. This is unacceptable and I will never return to a pep boys. What should have been an 1.5 to 2 hour job took the entire day. They did not respect my appointment or my time. read more

People were mostly friendly but became somewhat hostile when I questioned their interpretation of the inspection process; for reference, I was a licensed inspector for 13 years. I brought a vehicle in for inspection, they said it did not qualify for an emissions exemption (the vehicle was verifiably driven 205 miles over the preceding 14 months, the threshold is under 5,000 miles over 12 months). I contacted PennDOT who confirmed their reasoning was invalid and told me to direct them to call the PennDOT inspection hotline so they could hear it directly from PennDOT and exempt my vehicle. I explained to them that I called PennDOT and they changed the reason it didn't qualify to a different reason, which was also invalid. The service advisors and tech refused to call the hotline and said PennDOT doesn't understand the inspection process and I would only get a sticker if PennDOT came to their station and told them to give me a sticker. I called PennDOT back with the new reason and they again confirmed it was invalid and said they would be sending a quality control inspector to the station to re-educate the technicians. read more

This was my "go to" location for decades - even way before it was located at this spot (when it used to be a HoJo's! ) and P.B. was in Abington, PA in the 1980s! It's now just simply pathetic. They redesigned this store recently - for some reason. It's now a VERY cramped area with limited supplies - which are never in stock no matter what the website states. About 70% of the inside space is now tires...rows and rows of tires alost reaching to the ceiling! The help is rarely helpful and downright rude. I did my research on spark plugs for my car before hand, I asked this guy for these spark plugs and he simply said, these fit your car right?Because if they dont your car is screwed and these are non returnable. Ok..fine I get that. He cuts me off and asks what year, model is the car..(like this was a big chore to enter a few entries on the computer) The plugs DID match and process to slide them across the desk and walk away. I rather drive another 8-10 miles out of the way to the Warminster or Montgomeryville location. I have MUCH better luck finding what I need there. read more

The work took another hour or more. I told the guy I had a low speed vibration which prompted the visit. I had an inspection scheduled last Saturday at the Willow Grove, PA location.  I received a call at 7:40 am last Saturday to inform me the person that does the inspections called out and they had to cancel my appointment.  That was annoying, but whatever.  They rescheduled it for today and I showed up and was told that they couldn't do it again as the person that does the inspections was going to be out for a while due to having a baby.  A phone call would have been warranted in this situation. I will now go find another location to handle issues/inspections with my car as your office has shown they are incompatible with completing simple tasks. I know how a foul taste in my mouth with Pepboys and will advise people not to use your service since there is no respect for people's time and I guess you don't really want the business.  You need some employees that can handle simple work that comes to you.  I thought Pepboys would be my new spot for my car needs but I guess not.  Too many places offer the same services to offer bad customer service. read more

This has to be one of the most poorly run places I have ever seen. Over a year ago i set up an appointment online for an oil changed. They gave me a time and date to be there. I go at the specific time and they tell me oh we don't have any time at the moment we are booked. I tell them that I did set up an appointment online. The answer was they do not look at online appointments.. That alone is pretty close to false advertising to me. But at the time i thought nothing of it.. Everyone has its problems Now last nightIi CALLED this time to set up an appointment for a state inspection. The first time i was on hold for about 30 minutes so I gave up and called back later. A female did answer this time in a timly fashion. She asked what I wanted to do and I told her an oil change and state inspection. She asked what time and what type of oil. I asked for 6:00 pm. She set up the appointment and told me it was good to go.I did tell her that I would wait there for it to be done and I did need my car for tomorrow. Now today I go to Pepboys to get my appointment done. As I tell the clerk why I am there they tell me.."Oh we don't have anyone who can do state inspections after 6pm". Now I explain I set up an appointment. Explain that I told them I would stay for the appointment. .All I get is a "I dunno"..Never even a look up of my appointment.. Great service.. read more

Dealing with these people is incredibly exhausting. I would advise not calling to check on the progress of your car, as they will inevitably sit on it as long as they possibly can. Note: They charged me 80 bucks for a couple new bolts, because the other ones wouldn't... tighten? Not sure exactly what they did, I just know that I went in for an oil change and an electrical diagnostic. They re-replaced the battery, the car died, I took it back. They then did some more work on it, not sure what, and now I am in DC the car is back in the shop again and suddenly the starter went bad. So got a flat tire today. Was stranded at work because my car model apparently doesn't come with a spare. Dropped my car off to pep boys in Willow Grove. They told me it would be a few hours and that was ok. So I got a ride back to work. 5 hours later after multiple calls from me they finally get to my car. They won't plug the nail, and they don't have a tire to replace it. They don't tell me this till after 6 pm in Willow Grove. Don't tell me a couple hours to help me, then 4.5 hours later after I call multiple times, you tell me you have no fix for my car. I sat in Pep Boys for three and a half hours. I had an appointment. They did tell me it would take awhile but this was the only afternoon I could do it. Hence, why I made an appointment. According to their employee, Raymond, who gave me attitude throughout my three and a half hours, it takes two and a half hours for them to inspect a car. Which is weird, because when I got it inspected last year (also in PA), it took 45 minutes total. Inspections in Jersey take five minutes. My car breaks were acting up so brought my car in wicked late before they closed and they were so welcoming , friendly, honest, and just genuinely cool people. This place is terrible and I've never even been here! I've never been able to complete an appointment I've made! I made an appointment online about three months ago for that afternoon. I got a call and didn't see it... They didn't leave a message (wtf) and I called back to see what was going on. They said that actually no one was there to do an oil change (how long does that actually take???? Five minutes!?) and could I leave the car with them. I said forget it and canceled. This was for a Saturday afternoon. I made an appointment with a different location and had no problem. Today I decided to try again with them since I'm in the area today. I made an appointment online for this afternoon. I get a call like an hour later asking what I needed done and the guy was like barely talking.... He was like "oh an oil change...........that should be okay I think........ Uh you might have to wait when you get here because we don't really have anyone working." WTF. On a Thursday afternoon !? Whatever. I just got a call (15 mins before the appointment) asking can I drop off the car because only one person is working. Um no I can't. An oil change should take like five minutes. I also heard someone yelling in the background saying "IVE BEEN HERE ALL DAY!!" What in the hell. I said cancel it. My thing is.... Why doesn't anyone work at this location!?! Doesn't seem to matter if it's a weekday or weekend. Also, can't you turn off the online appointment scheduler if you literally cannot fulfill appointments!?! Insane. Honored the prorated warranty. Sean was very professional and empathetic to my tire situation. He took time to find the best deal for tire replacement. As other Yelp customers wrote....
