I open the door hesitantly. "Do you want to play puzzles? Do you have a husband?" asks an adorable 5 year old boy sprawled on the ground, a pile of puzzles pieces by his side. A 2 year old girl runs out & asks my name. I don't see an adult in sight. I question, "Is your mom here?" as I stand by the front door, feeling like maybe a news crew may suddenly materialize as I stand aghast, like a scene from "To Catch a Predator". I hear Naheed talking on the phone. She peeps her head out momentarily & disappears around the corner - not before motioning me to follow along. She gestures me to sit in a room with a chair. 12 minutes & $8 dollars later, I'm all done. She talked on the phone with her sister the entire time with the phone tucked under my headrest on speakerphone. As my eyes watered & I cursed to myself, "Mother bitch!" with the pain, I was slightly annoyed. Eh, I'm fine with it, now. Makalya was the absolute sweetest, and I loved how she explained every single step througout the facial. I didn't have that portion last time in another spa, and man I'm so glad I experienced it here. While I was just here for the scalp facial, I would trust Makalya with any other service!

She has such a calming, sweet presence that every appointment feels relaxing. Some visits we chat the entire time and catch up, and other times I enjoy the quiet and completely unwind (I may have even fallen asleep once or twice!). My skin always looks and feels amazing after seeing her. I also did a series of BioRePeel treatments with her last year and absolutely loved the results. She's located inside Renew Wellness, which has a small, welcoming, and personable atmosphere. Anytime I've interacted with other providers there, they've been friendly and professional as well. I truly can't recommend Melissa enough. She's been a huge part of my skincare routine for years, and I don't see that changing anytime soon!

When I went in her two kids ran up to greet me which is a bit unusual for a business, but at that point I was like who am I to judge? Oh but it gets worse. I wait in what's the salon room for maybe about 30 minutes (I almost up and left) as the lady was on her phone screaming at someone. While she later came in and apologized that had happened, I still find it incredibly rude and unprofessional that she left me waiting there and was screaming on the phone within earshot. She also proceeded to do a poor job with the threading. I told her I just wanted a bit of clean up around the eyebrows and she took way. Too. Much. Hair. Off. I stopped her at some point because I had a feeling she was taking off too much. I grabbed the mirror and almost gasped! I had this huge gap in my eyebrows. She then told me to put down the mirror and to not look anymore (huge red flag!) and said she would fix it. She began taking even MORE hair off! At some point I just told her to stop because I was over it. I paid and left. Definitely won't be back!!
