I have never experienced such horrible customer service from any other local company. The initial call with the phone support/sales person was great (Deborah) - she was very helpful. But unfortunately once our project got handed over to the local project manager (Nestor) customer support went out the window. Getting any communication out of him was like pulling teeth - I had to call, to text, to email - and consistently would get no response. I kept asking when our project would start, and I told him that we needed to give the neighbors a week notice so they could make sure their area was prepped and their animals were inside during the construction. I got a text from Nestor after 10pm one day saying that his guys would be at our home at 8am the next day. What??? Who does that? Overall the fence that Ergeon built was good quality, but the countless headaches from trying to deal with the project manager's lack of communication skills make me not recommend this company. I don't understand how this company can expect to stay in business if they have untrained staff with no communication or customer service skills. Ergeon, get it together please. read more

I was able to speak with someone within a couple of days after making a request for a quote or estimate online. Unfortunately, they cannot do sidewalk replacement work in the city of Oakland. I need the sidewalk, the walkway, and the driveway. I didn't get a quote because they can't do the right of way sidewalk in Oakland. They wouldn't explain why they couldn't do the work. read more

After a strong winds blew down several fence panels in the backyard we decided it was finally time to replace the fence in its entirety. After getting several bids we went with Ergeon based on their price, efficiency and specialization (i.e. they do just a few things and they do them well!) I worked with Rene for the quote - being in technology myself, I appreciated the use of virtual tools to price out the project. I worked with Nestor as the project manager to schedule the work and as our primary point of contact. Despite the scale of the job (over 180') Roy and his crew finished the job in just 4 days and really worked with us on some "game-time" decisions. They even helped us re-attach the twinkle lights that were connected to our old fence. Took a week to establish contact. Gave a lead time of 2 weeks to provide an estimate via a site visit in Newark,CA. On the day of estimate, called and said our guy quit on us. So gave another time 2 weeks out. Again have not showed up. Left a message for frank to call me back. Haven't heard back. Not planning to follow up again. A waste of time. Two other companies showed up the next day to give an estimate and actually gave the estimate. I called Ergeon fencing to get a quote on a vinyl fencing. I spoke with Inaki Arizaleta. At the time, he told me that his company wasn't doing vinyl fencing in my area, but he spent a fair amount of time (20 minutes) giving me an overview of the vinyl fencing product, and showing me the styles and colors that would be available. He also did a preliminary sizing by pulling up my house on google maps ( i think ) and measuring the section of fence I needed to have replaced. Inaki was professional, to the point, and easy to converse with..... And his discussion help me understand what vinyl fencing options I would have, once the product became available.... Inaki, called me back and said the vinyl product was now available.... Unfortunately, my insurance company Allstate, is not allowing wood, nor vinyl fencing, so I haven't use this company yet!!! read more

Since I never hired Ergeon, this review is for their business practice. They would not (repeat--not) come to the site to review it before giving an estimate. Instead, they wanted to give a first estimate based on photos submitted to them, then come to the site and change the estimate, as needed, once they actually looked at the space. I have never, ever had this experience with a contractor. I was replacing a shared backyard fence with my neighbor and informed Ergeon that there was a drop in height from my yard to my neighbor's yard at the fence line, as well as a slight unevenness in ground level from side to side at the fence line. Common sense tells a prospective customer that a contractor should come and look at that kind of space before producing an estimate for the fence to be installed there. But this is what Ergeon told me during the initial communications: /// In reviewing the pictures, it seems that there is a big height variance between your property and your neighbors. If this is so, the wooden retaining wall would be required for the fence to last. I can provide 2 quote options for you...one with retaining wall and one without for you to compare. If you choose the one without the wooden retaining wall included, and during pre-visit our installer sees it necessary, we would need a change order to adjust the quote okay. Shall I proceed to build your quote options? /// Sounded like a bait-and-switch offer, so I ended up choosing Daniel Fence, the owner of which came out several times to look at the site. He identified potential problem spots and we discussed options/solutions. He surveyed the space, took measurements, pulled out his calculator, filled out an estimate form and gave the completed estimate to me before he left. No wooden retaining wall was needed. His crew did a superb job, and I love my beautiful new fence from Daniel Fencing. read more

I just completed my second fencing project with Ergeon. Their work is beautiful, and they give you lots of options to customize your design and refine your price point. They are quick and responsive. I loved that I didn't have to wait weeks for an estimate, because they use a high-tech combination of a virtual call combined with existing (public) aerial photos of your property to generate their plan and bid. They also were able to squeeze in my small job within two weeks, when I would have had to wait months for other companies. My one less-than-stellar comment is that I had a pretty significant language barrier with the installer for the second job. I did end up getting what I wanted, but it made the installation a little more stressful. They did build a last-minute custom gate for me, which didn't hang quite the way I wanted. But they were happy to come back out right away to make adjustments, and I'm very happy with the result! (They also have a great warranty.) read more
