This is definitely the pre-game bar to go to on your Friday or Saturday night (maybe every night if that's what your into). Small bar but never a line to get in. Started my most recent blackout here and was not disappointed. The crowd in this bar are always fun be around and drink with. Every once in a while there will be the standard Cougar on the prowl if some of the guys are looking forward to that. Regardless, this is a solid go to if you are trying to meet up with a small group before ball crawling out in manhattan beach. Or even make it part of your bar crawl. WOW! This was an amazing amazing burger! Went out on a recommendation didn't know what to expect but boy was I in for a treat. Parking is very difficult you are a block from the Beach but don't give up! Place is 21 and over so you won't be able to bring in Kids. Bar was pretty packed but the lady behind it was really nice and brought me a cold PBR asap. Get the upgraded burger with the Sausage this is apparently the best of the best. It was delicious and the extra juice/ snap of the sausage made it over the top. The burger is not messy it is right where it needs to be! I have been coming to Ercs for years! It's a dive bar, and you need to bring cash as they don't accept credit cards. They make a stiff drink and the prices are reasonable. They have a pool table in the back, and there is usually a wait to play. It's a great place to stumble into on the weekends, not much of a who's hot scene, low key and fun. Their cheeseburgers rock, and the meat is very flavorful and juicy. 2 for 1 on Wednesdays. Martin knows how to put it together. Served with a bag of chips & pickle. I'm so glad that in 2012 we have iPhones and yelp apps. My buddy and I were in Manhattan beach, and just figured we'd go to some stupid restaurant on Manhattan Beach Blvd, but the prices were more indicative of the gaudy decor, rather than the quality of the food. Being conscious minded consumers, we promptly said "fuck that" and walked out to find something more befitting of our meager funds. Punched up the old yelp app, and low and behold there was a good old fashioned dive bar around the corner that serves burgers too. Yeah, it's a dive bar so don't expect uppity decor or tables and chairs that are unnecessarily high so that you can look down upon others. But they have fairly priced drinks and food, and the burgers are big and made to order. Plus it's cool that the place has been there since the early 1900's... Although I'm sure in another 5 years or so they'll decide to tear it down to make way for the 15th Starbucks in a 1 mile radius... Stupid corporate America!! read more

This is the go to dive in Manhattan Beach. Got here around ten pm on Saturday night and the place was absolutely packed. The bartenders and doorman were very courteous. This place used to be nice and mellow and it is during the week. On the weekend nights...not so much. But no biggie. It's still a good place to hang with your friends and just kick it! It's unpretentious and like the Mermaid in Hermosa...keeps it real in Manhattan! :) FOOD: I haven't eaten a ton here but they have a GREAT deal on Dodger Dogs during the day! I think they're only $1.50 and it's great to pop in (or get one from the window off the sidewalk) and get whatever you want on it...cheese, relish, onions... Cheese is an extra add-on, but hell, I doubt you can even get a Dodger Dog at Dodger Stadium for a $1.50?!! (Oh and this is ONLY during the day...they stop serving food at a certain point...not sure what time.) DRINKS: The bartenders are great and if you get a martini, you get the drink in the martini with a little side car with the leftovers from the mixing. The burgers here are delicious, simple and legit. More importantly though, I love the staff. Not fake friendly and if you're not a total ass they are willing to chat it up with you. My buddy, attempting to make small talk with the very attractive female bartender, asked her if the other older bartender was her dad and if it was a family business. The wait can be long, but that's where the cheap beer and strong drinks come in handy. Never had the burger, but they are huge and I believe they are 2 for 1 burgers on Wed. The place can get really crowded, and can have a line to get in on holidays and summer weekends, especially if there it is an event-driven weekend.
