I tried their momo or dumplings. It was like your traditional Chinese dumplings, but the fillings had more of an Indian flavor. Nepal uses a lot of spices similar to India. I loved the flavors. It was so different, yet familiar to me. Their Veggie Dal Bhat is your basic vegetarian platter with Dal (lentil soup), potatoes, chickpeas, and other veggie goodness. They all had great flavor from the many spices they used. They also have a bunch of fried noodle dishes, so I tried one. It came with chili sauce, that reminded me of sambal oelek. The noodle were cooked well, and I liked the flavor. The staff was friendly and helpful. I liked the food. It's a great place to check out if you're near the Ostbahnhof (munich east station) and want to take a break from all the heavy, Bavarian foods.

The menu is small but there is no way you could easily get tired of it. We had the hummus falafel platter as a shared starter on both our visits. The fresh sprouts on top give it that amazing crunchy and fibrous texture. You have to try it. My only wish is for it to come with more than the two pieces of bread. For mains, I tried the watermelon steak, and wow, I had had nothing like it before. It was thick, juicy, and red! The accompanying sauces and spices were amazing. Why do people even eat real animals anymore?! The drink selection is sparse, but I enjoyed the hot ginger drink. They do have nice wines and beers. Water seems to be a paid option. He desserts are the signature menu item. I was told that the cheesecake is made fresh every day, although the flavors are kept a surprise. One time I had something with peanut butter and the other time a more plain one. Try to get a table outside. It really captures the essence of dining in one of Munich's youngest areas. A small tip: this is not just a cafe or a restaurant, this is a community of raw food fans and of nice people that build up their connections and support each other, meet each other very often and organize diverse events or seminars around the Cafe, just ask about their community as well when you will enjoy your time in the Cafe! I was lucky to meet the inspiring founders of Cafe Gratitude in August at a raw food workshop and from what I know, they planned to come back soon, it's a workshop worth attending for all those interested in joining the Cafe Gratitude community. Back in August, Cafe Gratitude Munich was just in plan, now it's a very nice reality and it's one of the places where I could stay all day long, it's part of my favourite cosy homey places in Munich.
